  1. Let me know what you find out.
  2. I'm sure you could by a new valve from dodge(most likly a dealer item) but i think there would be an O-ring that you could probly match up and replace.Never been in mine but can't be complicated.
  3. Not even close to being the same animal as the 5600
  4. I have followed your trials with your engine. The only thing that got me on this was the "bored" part,Call Frieghtliner w/your Engine# and see what a reman costs. that would come w/a cummins warranty. Cummins Part # for my engine is 3403133RX $4200
  5. I've been through 3 of these tranny's, first thing to look at is the shift tower to make sure the plastic bushing is'nt worn out. http://www.allstategear.com/Shifter.htm Refer to the one for NV5600.This is the first to check before you pull the whole trans If thats good it's probly the big bearing in the rear of the main case, the only thing in the clutch/flywheel assy would be the pilot shaft bushing.
  6. You looking for a short block or just a block?
  7. Look at the shift tower to make sure the plastic bushing on the trans side is not worn or missing. This happened on mine kept it from fully engaging into gear.Or the rear bearing in the main and/or rear case is bad.
  8. If you know your heater core is leaking, that would be the first to replace. And if it was fogging your windshield it is. --- Update to the previous post... Look at pics on Tappet cover unveiled Thread,Thats oil/coolant mix.
  9. Access to freeze plugs/Replacing cam without pulling pan
  10. Like Wild & Free stated the oil cap/oil should would have a milky look to it if you were leaking coolant into the oil. I had a real slow leak of coolant that i could'nt find for awhile,it ended up being the water pump had a very light leak that even though i kept looking everytime i had to add coolant and did'nt notice.I would wipe the area under the water pump dry and check after driving. Might have missed in the thread, but how much coolant are you losing? Also call your local Frieghtliner Dealer with your Engine # for the head gasket,if you end up needing one.
  11. Just hoping that fresh paint is Cummins ISX Red and not Chevrolet Orange!
  12. Never did say whether fuel was gelled or not.
  13. Well if it was me, and i had good fuel pressure at the filter,i'd start cracking fuel lines to get it primed and running.
  14. Was fuel GELLED? You still can't get it started? Do you have fuel pressure at the filter? Are you sure you have fuel(guage could be bad)? And no running 911 through to degell the fuel in an emergency did'nt fry your VP44
  15. If your fuel is gelled get some Power Service 911 (RED Bottle) Pour some into filter canister, the rest in tank.
  16. I thought that after an amount of time if the ecm does'nt detect the same problem the codes were erased, might be wrong through.
  17. You know back when gas engines had carburators, the fast idle was set by a electric solonoid that would hold the throttle on a high idle until water temp (i think) was at a certain temp then release back to normal idle speed.I thought about mounting one on the gear(throttle) lever and activated with the flip of a toggle switch and set the idle about 1100 rpm, once warm flip the toggle and back to normal idle.
