My NV4500 trans temps
Nothing wrong with 6 speeds! I actually miss my old ones, I prefer towing with them but this 5 speed is what was in the "right" truck so I'll run it. Still way better than the slushbox. Actually just driving empty its definitely nice and cheaper to repair so just make the best of it.

My NV4500 trans temps
Would be nicer if it was up a little higher. I would be curious what the temp difference is.

My NV4500 trans temps
Have you changed that filter out yet? I have seen them before, looks like a good idea. Obviously not going to remove foreign material like a pressurized system but anything taken out of the oil is better than nothing imo. @Mopar1973Man I am running stock 235's. We definitely don't have the hills you do here in Michigan.

My NV4500 trans temps
Well I thought I'd share my findings on trans temps delivering hay lately. Been hauling the same size load on same road, made four trips over the last month or so for this example. Most of my other deliveries are closer to home and trans never gets warmed all the way up. Trailer is weighing in roughly at 15,000 and making a 70 mile each way trip at 55-60 mph. Takes a little over half way through the trip to reach its towing temp of about 190°. Running empty I usually see 150-160°. Temp probe is in drivers side pto cover, I installed it when I changed trans fluid to amsoil in the spring. I did however take the expressway home today because I was running short on time and had to get to work and was surprised to actually see temps around 200-210° with just empty trailer running 70mph. Just sharing some of my experiences and wondering what some others might be seeing. I would like to try a fast cooler in the future and see if there's any temp drop but for this summer probably will stay stock. Sorry the pic isn't the best but you get the idea.

Best year of the 12 valve?
Everyone thinks they are more reliable!

Best year of the 12 valve?
Yup the 98 12V quad cab with the 5spd is supposed to be the unicorn truck. Didn't the 97 and 98 have something different done with the injection pumps compared to 94-96? Seems like I remember reading that somewhere.

Everyone post a picture of your truck!
Do you have injectors too?

I would have to agree. Nice little tuner and seem to be able to find them used.

Nice! Stihl makes a good saw. Grew up with huskys myself. I have a 268 and a 372xp. I enjoy cutting firewood for some reason.

I had a 99 foreman just like that for years except is was a standard shift. Couldn't kill it. Looks like someone took great care of that one! Nice score. Are those stihl's I see in the back of your truck?

Terminology question
Another reason to keep running old rigs. Heck my 02 has hand crank windows and manual locks.

Algae in Fuel
I have had algae in a couple of tractors on the farm, used bio kleen or whatever power service calls theirs. When I had it in the tractors it looked like black snot in the fuel filters, I got a bunch of it out of the Case that had a sediment bulb before the fuel filters and it was literally black slime that came out. Had to treat the diesel per instructions on bottle, fill tank as full as I could I let it sit for a weekend. Had to stock up on more filters, took a couple of weeks to get all the junk out after the fact.

3rd or 4th Gen upgraded steering linkage? SAFETY RECALL (page two))
Are the 4th Gen guys plagued with the front end issues our trucks are? Engineering changes to these trucks are usually done for a reason, like why they went to adjustable track bars and steering components beefed up. Our OEM parts aren't that bad but I do believe there is always room for improvement.

That's awesome! Definitely looks more robust than the original equipment. When mine get bad I will definitely be looking into this setup. How do you like that adjustable track bar?

Mobil 50 SAE Transmission Fluid used in NV4500
Not a bad price. Always good to know there are different alternatives.

Mobil 50 SAE Transmission Fluid used in NV4500
What does the cost per quart come out too? I realize your buying guide by the 5 gallon pail. I was told by my local dealer that they discontinued the Castrol Syntorq. This definitely gives people more options. I just changed mine this spring, truck had 104k on it. Pretty sure it was original fluid, pretty dark when I drained it. I prefer and used Amsoil myself, it's stocked locally and was $14 a qt. Shifted 100% better afterward too. Glad to hear that mobile 50 is working for you.

Why did they only last 500k?
