Radiator leak
Well it took a while to decide, brought on by the leak getting much worse. Ordered and paid for a Mishimoto off of ebay.com, several hours later full refund and a message saying company does not ship to the UK at the present due to Covid and shipping delays, not sure what the covid situation is in the USA but here we're pretty much back to normal. So sent a message to 2 other ebay companies that have a ebay UK listing for a Mishimoto radiator.... same message back, can't be me as I've got 100% good FB I'd already tried DAP BTW but they had no stock and no idea when they would have stock. Tried Jegs... no stock Tried everywhere else a search threw up.... no shipping to the UK..... GGRRR it's 2021 FFS One more place to try Summit..... turns out not in stock but orderable for dispatch early December.... good enough for me and $70 cheaper on the total even the ebay ones, rad was the same price as everywhere else but the shipping was noticeably cheaper. MOT inspection has run out so got to look the truck over for that.... I know I some work to do on it so early December is ok for the rad..... we'll see if this gets refunded

Radiator leak
Thing is I'd be at £400 for a parts house plastic tank radiator to my door with all the shipping duty and vat, more than likely MIC, £700 plus for the Mishi MIUSA and by design and the materials it's made of and how it's made will not leak Although I've just spotted this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234260153582 which to say i'm liking it is an understatement (shame it's French) so my truck just might get a tub of rad seal for the time being On the rad I just cannot make my mind up

Lost Brakes and Power Steering on First Cold Morning 01 Ram 2500 Auto
I have large tyres and wasn't impressed with power steering effort at all, pump started to leak so took it off and stripped it, It was done, seal paths grooved, drive tang really worn, I'd already ordered a replacement being in the Uk..... no parts stores here, A few months after I did a serious U turn with my truck and trailer on a small road and the relief stuck open, THAT was one drive home, no steering or brakes. I pulled the relief out and polished it, this bearing in mind was a replacement pump from RA, while it was out I found a website that listed some mods to the pump relief valve, I can't remember if was here or where it was, I have had no bother with it since and steering is light enough without being scary, there was a noticeable difference once drilled

Well it finally happened! QUADZILLLLLA
Or just do what I did....... find a tune on here that kinda fits, mine was easy...... bone stock AFAIK runs great, I just don't have the time to mess with my quad, pay someone else a few $$ and download one When I retire I might find the time then again I probably won't

Radiator leak
Still not made the decision erring towards the Mishi as I hate doing things twice but looking at a Mishi and injectors as my MPG is garbage and at £1.50 a litre $500 for injectors is nothing. To be fair I do have a towing tune set on LVL 9 all the time but I do notice idle load is low and I do get some smoke, If I go 7/10's on injectors then the quad won't be on 9 Truck has 170k on it and injectors are stock
-
WHIRRRR?
My truck as far as I know is on stock injectors and turbo and injectors are well ready to be replaced, my warm load is around 4 to 6 on the quad and jumping around quite a bit. I do have a mechanical lift pump and a BHAF ( and for the record you need to bin the K&N) Anyway to the point, I fitted a quad maybe a year or so ago. I tow minimum 7000lbs most always and regular higher my EGT's are never above 1100f and mostly around 900F on good grades, flat motorway i'm 500 to 800, I do run larger than stock tyres though. Before the quad I would have sold it and gone back to using my 3500 Gas 5.9 as it was better, more refined and towed better and was faster, after the quad whole different ball game, I haven't messed with building tunes as I do not have time I just bought 2 off of here one DD and one towing, the towing tune is the one I use always whether towing or not, I do not need or want any more power I'm not sure what the HP is but my truck just gets up and goes and the more load is on it the more it wants to go all with low EGT Get a quad first and then if it's not enough after finding a good tune then go for it

Radiator leak
Well seeing as no one has commented on a Mishimoto I'm assuming no one has fitted one so I'm going to figure out how to use the Northern radiator, might even try the twin electric fans and ally shroud that is with the rad

Radiator leak
Started my truck on site the other day to come home and within a minute there's a puddle of coolant on the floor, rad leaking on the drivers side crimped edge, luckily it stops as it gets warm so still able to use the truck, I've been looking for a radiator and ouch ! Several options Rock is $422 to my door for a standard rad with crimped tanks, guess it's chinese this is for a purchase price of just over $100 Mishimoto on ebag $1151 to my door, no crimped tanks and MIUSA, purchase price is $750 Other option is I do have a new old stock Northern Radiator ally rad with the inlet/outlet on the correct sides but no trans cooler, would need to make mounts and weld them to the rad to use this, it is IIRC 19 or 22 x31, 3 core, I do have a large seperate trans cooler with electric fans that would work. I'm leaning towards the Mishimoto as I don't trust chinese stuff and don't really have time to mess around figuring out the Northern No option of buying here, Mishimoto have a UK outlet but don't stock and will not stock the 1298 rad Is the Mishi worth the $$

Grid heater comes on when turning on lights.
There's 2 grounds below the drivers side battery, I had a corroded wire right in the middle of one of those grounds and every time I indicated left the wipers would come on I removed the battery to get a better look at both of them and missed it the first time as it was right in the middle of the crimped bunch with just one strand of wire still connected and that was green and festered. After checking everything I removed the battery again and dug into both and found it, soldered a new terminal on both of them, cleaned the body and job done Not saying those are your problem just pointing out that what looks good sometimes isn't

Cutting Out Under Hard Acceleration/Above 68 MPH+ 2500 4x4 47re
I know you said previously that there is no codes when it's running rough but would you by any chance be able to beg/ borrow a newer Snap On Modis or similar then read all the live data when driving, more than likely need assistance to drive and read but that should show something if it's electrical. You can set several (4 at a time IIRC) inputs to display a graph and change the timescales to in effect zoom in, also able to record for analysis later, just do the lot but 4 at a time and look for blips The left turn is quite odd, as been said before wiring shorting etc. One other thing is the tank pickup clean and nothing in the tank, I have seen rag put into fuel tanks just for badness, how easy would it be to run it out of a drum in the bed to test, maybe run the pipe from the drum directly to the Fass and remove all the truck lines etc from the test

How long do you think the used truck market for good 24 v 5.9 Cummins 2 nd gens will hold out ?
New cars are in short supply here due to a chip shortage brought about by covid, around a 6 months waiting list when we were looking a few weeks ago, new XC40 Volvo was delivery in Feb. On another note we leased a 9 month old Volvo XC40 hybrid for 4 years which does around 28miles on a charge on just battery, perfect for my wife who never does more than 15 miles a day. MPG is up to 115 and climbing everyday, I put it on charge every night so it's ready for the next day, I'm curious to see if the MPG just keeps climbing if it's just used on electric I leased it as I just wouldn't want to own a modern car..... way to much to go wrong

New petrol and diesel car sales banned in the uk from 2025 , easier distance wise here as battery range is more or less good enough for most journeys, problem here is going to be infastructure, our grid is ok now but not good enough to charge millions of electric cars. We have bigger problems right now as our wholesale gas (not gasoline) prices have trebled this year, 2 American fertilizer plants here have been shut down as the cost of gas is too high, C02 is a bye product of these plants so there is a shortage of food grade C02 so there is a lot of things dependant on C02, you couldn't write it, the planet is warming due to this gas and the good old UK has ran out ........ genius

The emissions systems on everything does not work and is actually unfit for purpose, yes it will remove emissions until it regens then where does all that end up... out the tailpipe, stand close to one that is regening man they stink far worse than a 2nd gen. Also the tech is unreliable.... Caterpillar DPF's are a good case, engine ecu states it needs replacing every 5000hrs usually for no reason but the ecu will not let the engine run until it is replaced or the ecu is told it's been replaced... as far as I know Cat ET is the only software that can do this rip off caterpillar... I lease a new car for my wife because I won't own one, if and when it breaks it's a phone call " fix this" warrantied the whole time I lease it

Bit of a conumdrum really as it's rising Co2 that is changing the weather that is causing more forest fires Spain and Turkey have really burnt this big time And for the record I'm not a extintion rebellion idiot I just think the internal combustion engine will be no more within my lifetime but maybe not in my driving lifetime

My guess is when the environmentalists get fossil fuels banned or Governments tax fossil fuel out of use then all internal combustion engines will be paperweights but until then everything that hasn't got any of this regen/DPF/ Adblue rubbish fitted will be high prices here in the UK this week there has been several protests by different groups with one bunch of fools sitting in the middle of the M25 and stopping all traffic for 4 hours or so

E10 fuel here in the Uk and a new Volvo XC40 hybrid for wife
Here we keep building houses and concreting over the ground so when it does rain there is nothing or nowhere natural to store the water so the rivers overflow and flood. For the record my friend cities are no better here, quite funny really.... getting a car that can drive into cities here for free but neither my wife or myself would ever want to, not safe and full to the brim of idiot people anyway. Our news on one particular channel at night starts with a satellite view of the UK at night it's only shown for a very brief second or two, I'm trying to figure out the least populated areas where it would be nice and peaceful to live, narrowed it down to Cumbria (north west) right on the scottish border, the very North East past Newcastle or North Wales these are the few places with next to no light at night

E10 fuel here in the Uk and a new Volvo XC40 hybrid for wife
Not really a subject deviation We've had 1 short spell of very hot weather, maybe 2 weeks the rest of the summer has been low pressure system after low pressure system blowing in from the Atlantic which is quite unusual for here in the summer, we've had much more rain than usual in fact the south has seen some major flooding, we ourselves have had may be 8 or 10 flood alerts this summer but nothing for us in the Midlands has amounted to flooding. We do get big swings in weather though, due to being surrounded by sea and right in the path of the jet stream, usually if it dips south of us we are cold and wet as it pulls in air from much further north, if north of us it usually dry and hot as it pulls in air from the south which is Spain/Africa. Parts of Europe has had it very hot this summer, Turkey was/is on fire, some silly temperatures with records broken in several EU countries WOW I didn't realise it was that bad, I've been to the USA a few times and have noticed the power supply tends to vary for want of a better word, lights flickering or just going out etc. Would this be due to 110v and most cabling is above ground ???. Most of our cabling is underground Here we have one company that is responsible for the entire network "National Grid" they maintain the lines and the higher voltage stuff, then we have regional companies that look after the more local lower voltage stuff, the regions are quite big and I'd guess England has only 4 or 5 regional power companies, we are in Western Power's area We very rarely get the power cut, once this year it was off for a few hours due to a 11kva underground cable replacement right at the end of our drive, only cut us off as all it fed was us. This country has invested heavily in wind turbines and solar and we can get government grants to fit turbines/solar/biomass/heatpumps etc to our homes We are still being told our electical infastructure won't cope with everyone charging electric cars.... but there is talk of using peoples electric cars as network storage batteries, not sure how this would work but my guess is your car is plugged in and charging and in times of high demand your car adds some back into the grid. We very rarely use coal now to generated electricity, there is a coal power station maybe 10 miles away from us and thats never running, our record for coaless days is somewhere between 100 to 200 days IIRC We didn't go the whole way and buy fully electric... not ready for that yet plus they are still way to expensive nearly £700 per month for a Volvo XV 40 electric AND you cannot buy it you lease, only option leased from Volvo At least with the one we went for it will do what my wife needs per day totally on battery, then plugged in at night for the small amount of miles she does the next day. Also with it being a hybrid it can do into cities without paying the pollution charge, London is £12 per day and the zone has just been increased to cover a larger area, this is coming to all cities here, diesels and older petrol cars/trucks/HGVs pay it, won't be long before diesels are banned from built up areas

E10 fuel here in the Uk and a new Volvo XC40 hybrid for wife
In september E10 is replacing normal E5 petrol/gas here in the UK, E10 is 10% bio, I've read that my 3500 V8 will be ok on E10 as you guys have been using that for a while hope thats right. I spotted a 6x6 REO truck on ebay the other week that was true multi fuel diesel/petrol/cooking oil/parrafin, not sure how something runs on diesel and petrol but was rather took by it As I have a 3500 v8 that does sub 20mpg when it's on the road and a 24v thats just classed as a dirty diesel here and deserves to be squashed I decided to get a hybrid for my wife (she can drive the rubbish I thought) her Nissan quasquai lease is done in October so test drove a Volvo XC40 proDesign recharge, 3 cylinder turbo petrol 1500cc at 180hp with a 80hp electric motor, this thing is rather quick 0 to 60 in 7.1secs which for my better half is formula 1 territory, electric range is only 28 miles but thats about 2 days usual driving for her so shouldn't cost anything in actual petrol Pick it up next friday, she's happy so more to spend on my rams

Lil' Red - 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 - SOLD!
wife keeps on at me to sell my 3500.... err no thank you, just bought lower door patch panels for it, had it since 2004 only parked it when I bought the 24v, the 3500 is my backup as I'm sure diesels here will be priced off of the road and while it's been parked I've used it for parts testing, the CTM, seat belt system and window motor system was all tested using parts off of my 3500 with the original parts getting put back onto the 3500 and the 24v getting the replacements. Got a bathroom to do for the wife then it's going undercover so I can do the doors just had it far too long to sell it

exhaust brake
I have a switch to hold LU in taken from your very article, I find for normal driving I don't use it much at all as I find my truck is locked in 3rd at our 30mph limit and will stay locked down to 25 to 28 ish and in 4th it is locked at our 50mph limit or I should say once locked it stays locked to a little below 50mph which is perfect for the roads and limits here, I honestly couldn't have got a better combination of ratios if I'd have tried. There is not that many steep downhill roads I use normally, there are 2 that come to mind but 2nd locked would be the gear which I can't do at the moment as they are both short and steep. A exhaust brake would be good for when I get back to using my 5th after this covid, won't bother this year so got some time to play around which is good as I'm fitting a second bathroom ATM and collect a new Volvo XC40 hybrid car next week

exhaust brake
That's what I figured on the flanges, cut the downpipe and weld them in, I think I'll put it on a switch or cable with a good strong return to open spring, it will be a long term project as I haven't got a 2nd gear lockup VB and due to core charges I doubt I'll ever get one , I paid £150 for 2 so cheap enough to play with methinks Like I said though if they are smaller than my DP then I'll resell
