Truck started stuttering again
I managed to jumper terminal 30 to 87 tonight, set code P1285 injection pump control always on same flat line on the Modis truck started and stopped as normal, no spikes replaced relay, and cleared code, started truck and spiking but quite wide apart and not uniform removed relay, truck no start as expected BUT same flat line as jumpered above no spikes, forgot to write the code down but it was no comms between ecm and inj pump as you would expect Replaced relay and cleared the code, started the truck and flat line with spikes spaced quite a way apart and what appears to be random

Truck started stuttering again
I had no time yesterday to test as it rained again all day I checked with the modis again tonight and the spikes are still there but a lot less, I swapped the ASR and the inj pump relay with others but still the same Page 8I -3 of my 2001 manual refers to the asr but it doesn't specifically mention diesel, hopefully I'll finish work at a better time tomorrow to be able to test

Looking For a Good Vendor
Yes you could but it's not needed. On here there are 2 camps, electric and mechanical, both work. I'm mechanical and I love it ...... rpm increases psi increases, electric goes the other way

Looking For a Good Vendor
I get number 1 On number 2 I wouldn't have a clue as to whether 100gph electric pump would support what you want to achieve, I do know my mechanical one would, I have 2 micron Caterpillar diesel filters and I used the higher geared pulleys that came in the FP kit as up to around 1100rpm on the lower gearing FP was around 9 to 10 psi rising quickly to around 20psi IIRC, this is down to the 2 micron filters, with the higher gearing I have 12 at idle and well before 1000rpm I have over 15, I had to modify the relief spring as FP would have blown the front off of my 30psi FP gauge. And by going mechanical I removed an electrical item from the mickey mouse Dodge electrical system I also fitted it to try and keep the vp cool as in the UK I don't want anything breaking, I'm not on the HP ride just reliability, try thinking of the most unusual quirky UK car.... say a Reliant plastic pig and running it in the USA.... thats the availability of parts here absolute zero, I probably sell more parts for Rams on ebay than any business in the UK Just watch the FP gauge and upgrade if it looks to be going low

Looking For a Good Vendor
I'm in the UK and getting parts from the USA is sometimes difficult, vendors just don't want to ship here, don't know why, it's the UK FFS not Russia, Afganistan etc takes 3 days or thereabouts to get here and it's easy, I ship ebay sales to the USA all the time it aint rocket science... @dieselautopower is one Vendor that does ship to the UK, last order I placed was a Quad and a DTT crank driven FP kit, great price, great service and 3 days here

Truck started stuttering again
This is what was confusing me as I turned key off/on quickly so as not to stop the Modis but nothing changed on fuel shut off signal I was watching, Is this a collision fuel off ? In the body module that controls the locking seatbelts in my truck there is a collision switch which is a ball in a track IIRC when I took it to bits to try and fix it

Truck started stuttering again
It took me 2 reads to get that... you say maybe we are seeing a command on top of a command thats already happened ? What does this relay actually do..... bear with me here cos I haven't had the chance to take a look at manuals and wiring diagrams (work hours) I'm asking because on the fastest key off/on I can manage nothing on the scope changes, is it engine key off or collision off, I checked key off/on as my ign switch isn't the best ?

Truck started stuttering again
I'll check it at the relay but it won't be tonight as it is raining heavily here for the 2nd whole day and truck is outside

Cam position sensor
ACS is the one to send it to, they can test and fix As a thought though it might be worth checking continuity/ resistance on all sensor supply wiring yourself as it could be bad connection/corrosion or another bad sensor on the 5v, thats if you've not done so already. Another thought is Snap On do a sensor tester that can supply any voltage from 0 to 8v, if you know anyone with one you could remove your 5v sensor supply pin from the ecm plug and feed that circuit 5v. This would probably throw a code because the pin is removed but if it is the ecm your present code should be erazeable This tester is not a huge amount of $ Mine was £90 from SO

Intermittent Charge and Shifting Problems P0320, P1682 and now P1899
As above, do the diagnostics for the P1899 code, where did you get the pcm from ? ACS hopefully. Have you done the WT mod ?... sticky at the top of this section, have you checked AC voltage as per WT article ?

Apps replacement on a 98.5 24V
Can your scan tool read live data ? If so whats your throttle percentage/reading when it goes to wot. For what it's worth my truck had a new cheap chinese apps fitted when I got it. One reason PO sold it to me as it just didn't work so PO thought it was something else and not the ''new'' apps. I got a not so cheap apps from rockauto, this worked as it should, then joined this forum THEN learnt from the guys here that a Timbo apps is the only one to fit... Waiting for the not so cheeapo to go dead pedal and i'll be fitting a timbo

Truck started stuttering again
I checked it again tonight and it is different from yesterday Truck had not been run since last night when I checked the first time, on startup there were random spikes that got less and less the longer the truck ran, also seemed to be able to set a spike with a stab of the throttle especially early on while still cold, it is quite warm and humid here today, Fuel temp was 27 deg C. As the truck ran it did go mostly flat line but still did have the odd random spike, blew my theory out of the water.... I'm going to check it again tomorrow also. I doubt a multimeter would see it backprobing the correct wire as it is so quick but the scope will on the modis or similar

Truck started stuttering again
When I checked mine last night the spikes were uniform as can be seen in the 2nd picture it was like that from cold start and did not change, I looked away for second to turn the interior light off to stop the glare on the screen for a second better picture, looked back and flat line no spikes and at no point did it spike again. This is why I felt it was a ecm test to check engine stop. Will look close tonight if this storm stops
-
Truck started stuttering again
In my 2nd picture I have the wrong one highlighted on the Modis screen. The correct one is the 2nd line down with the 2 distinct spikes I'm going to check again tonight and watch what happens very closely
-
Truck started stuttering again
I hooked up my Modis to my truck, there was at first start when cold a spike every say 75 % across the screen, after a short time just flat line no spikes, got the pics the wrong way round, 1st one is running a minute or 2, 2nd is straight after start up, sorry for the rubbish pictures I just couldn't stop the glare from the sun, I did do a record and if you want it I can get it off the modis and post it but the first picture should confirm it should be flat line with no spikes, my second picture has me thinking I have a problem as I cannot see why it should spike without it is a ecm test on first startup to check it is working, ECM could see a rpm drop to coincide with the solenoid cycling and if it does the test is stopped, if you look at the frequency on mine 2nd pic, it is quite far apart and it was uniform, yours is quite random ish

Truck started stuttering again
I can't see why a FP shutoff would fluctuate like that

Truck started stuttering again
Yes i'll have a look when I get home

which tuner/programer??
I fitted a quad about 4 months ago, I just found a tow tune on here and thats all i've done as I just have no time to spare at the moment building a tune ( 70 to 80 hrs a week at work) I run it on lvl 2 towing and lvl 3 just the truck as the 47re is stock and I drive like your granny anyway, it has made a huge difference, I did a lockup switch and now the truck is really good in 3lu or 4lu, no smoking tyres but I don't want that. Quad set up easy even with a UK samsung tablet. It shows load also, I'm around 7 I think, same figure as Snap On Modis...

2001 ecu
Also read on Blue Chip Diesel diagnotics pages that the rotor can sieze in the housing which snaps the drive shaft within the pump which is another cause of a dead stop, caused by sharp edges which dig into housing. This would be rectified after failure maybe as it was a Bosch problem from new oem

2001 ecu
Was there any previous warning before it died ? I wouldn't like to guess how long for me to get a vp, 2 or 3 weeks i'd say
-
2001 ecu
I've already done both mods, acs says if the part numbers for mine and replacement match then it will be fine to flash to my truck. If I can get a ecu and pcm all either have to do is run the truck to get me home. I'm trying to figure out what would stop the truck dead, ecu, pcm,vp, trans alternator and starter because there is no option for next day parts or recovery here certainly when towing the 5th wheel
-
2001 ecu
Just had a really good email from ACS regarding testing and reflashing a ecu. They don't ship international but i'm working on that
-
2001 ecu
I've been reading all the ecu/pcm/vp/sensor/alternator failures over the last few months on here and getting more and more paranoid by the day as over here in the uk no recovery is available for my 5th wheel and I doubt any recovery/breakdown co would touch the truck either. So my question is would a 01 ecm work with a flash on my 98.5 ? I have sent acs a message on this also. Also going to try and locate a spare pcm and maybe a new alternator and whatever else I can think of I've done the WT mod. And also Mikes alt protection
