  1. Rockauto has throwout bearings made by SKF. That is what I used. I don't know if they are any better than others, but, as for price, they should be.
  2. I put 17" factory wheels on my 2002. Your lug nuts will work. I can't remember exactly what year they changed them, but, the newer lug nuts won't work on the older trucks as the newer ones are metric threads. I also tried my original center caps on the new wheels, and they did not fit flush against the wheel. The old center caps have a metal attachment and the new have a plastic attachment. The new have to be smacked on pretty hard so a lip in the plastic pop over the bulge in the lug nut. I didn't try to smack the old style on that hard, for fear of breaking the expensive bugger, so I don't know if it could be forced to work.
  3. I mounted a piece of 2" aluminum angle over the two back studs. Then I zip tied a piece of heater hose to the aluminum angle. The BHAF shows no wear. Also clears the AC line. I then either use Ag-Loc, or a nylon strap to hold the filter down so it is not bouncing around.
  4. I don't know if this will work on a 3rd gen, but on my 2002, the passenger side window stuck in the down position. I was getting power to the motor. I smacked the motor area with a rubber mallet and it started working.
  5. I made a bit of a mistake. I found the thread on TDR. The price of the made up Daniel Stern harness is $165.11.
  6. Someone on one of the other forums just ordered made up harnesses from Daniel Stern for a 2nd Gen. I believe they were around $265.00. Seems Daniel Stern is not very quick on answering requests.
  7. I tried balance beads inside the tires. I had 8 or 9 oz per tire IIRC. Never did take the shake out. When I talked to the manufacturer of the beads, I was told if you have different weights on the inside compared to the outside on your rims, they may not balance right. They also said, if the tire takes a lot of lead to balance (2oz IIRC), the beads would not work too well. I had the ceramic beads. Can't remember who made them, maybe Dyna Bead. Anyway I'm back to normal lead weights. Another expensive lesson.
  8. Gates has a heavy duty Fleetrunner belt that is supposedly a lot heavier duty. I haven't tried one on my 2002, but by the price difference on Rockauto, there must be some difference. I read on one of the Forums somewhere that they are a good belt.
  9. My 2002 would run rough and blow white smoke on a cold morning, less than 40 degrees. After it warmed up the smoke would quit and it would run fine. It threw a code for Cam Position Sensor. Later on it threw P016. Dealer replaced VP44. Still threw code on cold mornings. I replaced sensor. No more problems. Check for codes. In the shop manual there are specs for the sensors. Yours may have both a Cam Position Sensor and a Crankshaft Position Sensor. You may have to check them both, if you have both.
  10. Do an E-Bay search for Schraeder Valve. I don't remember the sellers name, but they were like $2.00 each plus very cheap shipping.
  11. The display in my 02 radio did the same thing. I put in an aftermarket radio. I recall researching a few places that repaired the display, and it cost more than a new radio.
  12. Check out www.apartsdepot.com. If I remember correctly they had good prices.
