  1. I absolutely agree with you. Yeah a quality built ALL American car will cost more in the long run, but thats a price I am willing to pay if I know it put food on another American's table or a roof over another American's head. We should be ashamed of buying Chinese products anyway with the way they treat their workers. I hear cases of Silicosis are all too common in China where the government doesn't regulate factories to prevent it. If you don't know what that is, its basically a type of black lung disease that is caused by sand blasting. In America this has happened but know that we know about it we prevent it by regulating companies to provide the proper respiratory equipment. I can only imagine the other things that slip through the cracks in that country. They probably expose their workers to tons of hazards everyday with no second thoughts as long as the production costs are kept low. If you use America to find the American dream, then return the favor to the country that made it possible. Keep the business here, keep the jobs here, and keep the money here.
  2. Running the engine hard down the highway and getting the EGT's up this will help clear out any soot build up. If it ever comes to a point where contaminated fuel has been used I would suggest getting them professionally cleaned on a test bench.
  3. Well unfortunately there isn't much left that truly is American. Pull apart a Ford for instance, "Hecho en Mexico" is stamped on a lot of engine parts. The electronics are typically made in Asian countries. I mean whats really American anymore? It really burns me how everything, even customer service is out sourced. Buy a brand new computer and call the customer service line and you will most likely get someone in the middle east that can barely understand you, and can't resolve your problem. I want to buy an American car that is made in America, not assembled in America. There are enough families here with mouths to feed, let them make the parts. Let them assemble them, and let them buy them. That way the money stays in this country and helps our economy, not China's. :mad
  4. Could it possibly be something to do with the heat/defrost door actuator, section 24-26 (shows as page 2755 on my computer) of the FSM? Just a passing thought as it was a quick glance I made.
  5. Believe it or not another interesting day! I can't believe there is so much activity in Colorado. Normally there isn't. I grew up in Iowa and lived in Kansas for a short time where I saw plenty, but never when I could film/photograph them. I was driving north bound on the highway when I saw this funnel and my wife had her camera (she wants to be a photographer) so she shot a vid. Pretty crazy to see this up by the mountains.
  6. My day started off pretty normal, looked like it was going to storm out but nothing was happening. I got in my truck and was driving down the road with the windows down and I couldn't help but think its was getting cold out quick. I pulled up to a traffic light where the car next to me caught my eye, it was a guy opening his door and starring off at the sky. He turned to me and said "Oh my god, do you see that!". Sure enough I looked up and saw a fairly pronounced funnel in contact with the ground. I decided to drive up a little farther to and get some pictures with my cell phone. Interesting to say the least, I haven't heard of anyone being hurt by this one so far. The last picture I took from a different spot and it was as the tornado was dissipating, but its also the clearest.
  7. I usually don't pay attention, but tonight I was downloading an ISO image from mirrors.giganet.com and the down speed was 1.4Mbps for about a minute then tapered off too about 850kbps.
  8. I have actually thought about starting my own business, just had no idea where to start. Seems like a lot of work when it comes to licenses and taxes. I think i'm going to look into this a little harder though. Thanks for the advice and kind words!
  9. Needless to say I had a very very bad day at work the other day. I had inspectors there, and due to circumstances and it just not being my day things feel apart. Amazingly through all the stress I kept cool about it and just finished my work and went home despite the fact I got a horrible survey. So even though my superiors told me that it was not my fault it was due to the circumstances I have a feeling the higher ups aren't going to see it that way and I may be in the job market come Thursday. The really sad part is I feel liberated by the idea of being fired. I have always hated the job. Anybody have any entry level job ideas that don't require college, or require very minimal (i.e. no more than 6 months) that would pay somewhat decent?I took welding classes, computer science classes, and even wrenched at a small shop when I was a teenager but that has been quite a while. I am also pretty proficient with locks and have thought about becoming a locksmith. I am pretty much open to anything that is entry level.Problem is this is Denver so there are less chances for apprentices, as there are colleges around every corner. Any ideas would be great!
  10. I was actually surprised with my Comcast tonight when I ran that test. I could have swore that ours was suppose to be 10Mbps max? Used to be if I ran a speed test I only hit 6Mbps. Hey Mopar1973Man any connections on HP Pavilion DV9005US Notebook Motherboards? Cheapest I have found is a refurbished one for $149.99. I have two of these burnt up right now, they won't even POST.
  11. I wonder why this is that the SO pump is compatible with the HO stuff, but the HO isn't compatible with the SO?
  12. I think Mopar1973Man hit the nail on the head. It certainly sounds like the wastegate is stuck open, or opening prematurely. I would take it off and test it. http://dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/troubleshooting/wastegate.htm
  13. Wow thats a pretty smoking processor there. I have always been a fan of AMD, and thier new Phenom 2's are looking quite nice. I like my Phenom 9950 BE but it leaves much to be desired in terms of over clocking and the 4 cores don't help much for a lot of games. Windows 7 beta is already getting good speed reports compared to Vista already. :thumbsup I agree here. These operating systems weren't that great compared to the Microsoft NT operating systems either. Windows NT4, 2000, XP, and Vista are all NT Kernel based operating systems so will be Windows 7. Also Windows 9x variants where not true multi-user operating systems which left them open to some major security flaws. The NT kernel is the future, and hopefully Microsoft can fix the flaws in Vista with the release of 7.
  14. I have heard mixed results about the AGR stuff. There was a kit at one point in time for retro-fitting a 3rd gen box into a 2nd gen truck which from my understanding was fairly simple and only required a few changes for the spine differences. They say the 3rd gen box is much tighter and more responsive than the 2nd gen gear.Mopar1973Man is right about the sector adjustment. I am sure a lot of steering boxes get replaced due to wear causing slop when a sector adjustment would tighten it back up. Just don't tighten it too much.
  15. This is typically due to a bad transfer (lift) pump. It is highly suggested that you monitor fuel pressure constantly from the cab using a fuel pressure gauge which can be purchased at most auto part stores. Also I would suggest doing a volume test to see how much volume the lift pump is putting out I think you would be surprised to find out how weak the system may be. Running the truck in this shape can cause damage to the much more expensive injection pump (VP44) so I would suggest testing the transfer system promptly. If you find the system not to be holding more than 10psi under all conditions or the volume test is failed then you should consider an after market system. A Raptor or FASS replacement lift pump will last much longer and cost only about $50-$100 more.
  16. If the lift pump is functioning fine you would have no problem at all. However I would seriously get a fuel pressure gauge on the inlet to the VP44 and monitor to make sure the system can sustain over 10psi during WOT runs (I highly doubt it will.) Under 10psi and the injection pump will not receive enough lubrication and fuel cooling to prevent wear eventually leading to a P0216 code. Its my understanding that a good aftermarket system capable of maintaining between 15-18psi under all conditions will keep the VP44 happy for sometime.
  17. Not bad looking. I have never owned a Honda but I had a buddy that owned a Honda 300ex that was a lot of fun. I have owned several Yamaha's with good luck though. A Moto-4 250 (thats an oldie), a Banshee, and I had a Blaster for a short time. Since those are all long gone now I have seriously been considering purchasing another.
  18. I didn't get it myself but it may have been there when I purchased it. As far as timing knock that has never been an issue. The dealership said it was pre-ignition/timing knock causing the problems but I have since found out the rattling noise has been the timing chain. Turns out Dodge released a revised timing chain for the 3.9l that utilizes a tensioner to correct the timing chain noise problems.
  19. ISX while 64-bit operating systems hold the advantage of being able to access the system hardware faster and support more system memory most programs are not optimized for it. I personally think that while the day for the 64-bit operating system is certainly coming up fairly quickly, for most tasks including game play the 32-bit version of Windows is sufficient. Most people out there will not notice any major difference between the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the operating system in terms of speed. Often times 32-bit operating systems win the speed race simply because software and drivers have been optimized for the 32-bit environments.I really haven't had a problem with running Windows programs on Linux. I customed tuned my WINE ("Wine is not an emulator") to execute most Windows programs natively in Linux. The ones that won't I can either restart and boot into Windows XP or just run Windows under emulation from the Linux desktop allowing me to run the program inside a virtual machine.Computer specs are: AMD Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition overclocked @ 3.0ghz on all cores 4GB of PC2-8500 BioStar T-Force TA790GX-128M Motherboard 640GB Western Digital Sata, 250GB Western Digital PATA NVidia PCI-E 8800GTS Overclocked Windows XP Professional AVG Virus and Internet Security Ubuntu 9.04 IPtables for firewall Avast! Anti-virus This system runs a little on the warm side, but not so much that it causes stability issues. I am contemplating water cooling it next.
  20. I found this site, but I have never used them before. http://www.autocomputerexchange.com/Browse/used/Dodge/CUMMINS%20DIESEL/2001/1
  21. I am currently running Ubuntu 9.04 on my system along side Windows XP (i own Vista but absolutely hated it). I have to say Ubuntu 9.04 really impressed me, it was easier to setup than Windows XP and imported all my documents, music, and videos without a hitch not to mention the fact it was free. However I have always been a huge supporter of open source software and don't mind working past a few bugs. So whats everyone else running?
  22. Certainly looks creative, but not so sure about the styling ;)
  23. I totally agree here. The axe was of little consequence the man was already disabled, but his actions while under the influence will affect the child for the rest of his life. This poor kid will never be able to see again.
  24. Haha this is funny because my wife actually works for one of Disk Network's call centers and she constantly tells me about the customer complaints about their channel line up. Its not looking good for them right now as they are losing a lot of customers because they didn't want to pay the price increase to keep some channels.
  25. http://www.ktvu.com/news/19501875/detail.html This guy was high on illicit Phencyclidine which is commonly known as PCP (angel dust). In his drug induced delirium he bit out one of his 4 year olds eyes and ate it. He also permanently damaged the child's other eye leaving him blind. The neighbors later found that he had chained himself up, was naked, and in the process of chopping into his own ankle with an axe. Mind you not, all this aggression was caused by a man that needed a wheelchair high on PCP.
