  1. Mike, a "power outage" here usually lasts about 2-3 hours at most. The one last year due to the wind storm was what made me do this wiring project and the wood stove install. At my house last year, I didn't have power for 3.5 days..........and then after I got power, it'd be off for hours at a time whilst they got others in the neighborhood on line again. My Bud, just 1/4 mile away, was without power for almost 8 days from the same storm!!!

He's from the "Dos Equis" beer commercials. The ones that state............."I don't always drink beer; but when I do, it's Dos Equis." There've been numerous "spooks" on that commercial since. Just saying, not arguing of course!!

I thought y'all would like this one. What the heck???
  4. I hear you, but you may be surprised how "wet" standing dead trees can be. The stuff you pictured is probably fine though, because of the small diameter. Remember Mikes, posts about the standing dead trees that were burned??????? He said the wood was getting "punky".................that's from moisture in the dead tree "rotting" the wood. For best efficiency and minimal creosote buildup in your chimney, firewood "ideally" should be 18-20% moisture. If your wood sizzles when you put in on hot coals and it takes a while for your wood to catch fire or you see water bubbling out of your wood, it's probably too wet. Firewood should make a sound similar to two baseball bats being tapped together. If you get a dull thud rather than a baseball bat type sound.......your firewood is not ideal.
  5. You're self sufficiency is making all those poor, helpless, people from Katrina and Sandy look really bad Mike!!!!! Afterall; isn't the government supposed to take care of us!!!!:banghead::think:I like your set up!!!:thumb1:I just rigged up my house last year for generator power. Wired in the stuff to handle the 8000watt generator I bought. I try to keep at least 10 gallons of gasoline on hand for stuff now. That coupled with my wood stove install....................Not too much would change at my place either!!
  6. Welcome Diego!!!! You're English is better and more understandable than many American/Canadian members of this site!!!! You got the capitalization (save for Cummins), commas and periods perfect!!:thumbup2:Any questions you have about the Cummins, please ask them!!!
  7. Burning fresh cut wood is not very efficient or healthy for your chimney!!!!
  8. Where there's a will, there's a way!!!!

    How's this???
  10. I really don't think it'd be wise for me to learn to ride "dirt bikes" from you ISX!!!! You seem to crash a lot!!
  11. That picture reminds me of the time I heard the story of George Jones driving the riding lawn mower down the road to the local "watering hole" because Tammy Wynette (his wife at the time) took all the keys to their vehicles so that he couldn't go!!!!!!!!
  12. Is that "fresh cut", and in your house???? Hard to tell from the picture.
  13. He's said he was "showing" her, and when he left said not to touch/mess with the gun!!!! She deserved it; because he said that she makes fun of him for not listening to here!!! Payback is a female dog!!!! That is funny though!!!
  14. It's Russ four wheelin' in his scooter!!!!!
  15. Y'all have to listen to this!!!!!! If it weren't so sad, it'd be funny. How much you wanna bet she's an BHO voter??!!!! http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFCrJleggrI
  16. Mike, I cannot believe you make MoparMom work so hard!!! You should be thankful...........afterall, she birthed you, changed your diapers (still maybe??), wiped your nose and your butt......................and you make her work like that???!!!! Shame on you!!! You should provide her with enough firewood so all she has to do is cook your meals and wash your clothes and mow the lawn and clean the houses!!!!!!!
  17. I'd buy that bad boy and use it as a wood hauler!!!! It pulls a wheelie, so it'd be considered a "dump truck", right??? Just load her up, back up to where you want your wood dumped and "floor it"!!!!
  18. He'd better check his frame after that run!!!!!!
  19. Because the later you inject the fuel in the "powerstroke of compression" or "early exhaust stroke (CR)" the hotter your exhaust will be. In essence, the piston is pushing the flame into the exhaust manifold earlier. This reduces NOx emissions but reduces efficiency drastically!!!!! Something the EPA doesn't seem to gather................or care about.................because in our country that'd mean reduced tax revenue!!!!!!!!!! That's the rub...............we "can" get 25mpg out of our 8000lb. Cummins if the EPA would let us. But that'd reduce the amount of fuel tax that gets paid to the various forms of government!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS follow the money aspect of things when you cannot understand why things happen!!!!! I'll start another thread here shortly about that!!!!
  20. Knock on Wood, I've never had the idiot light come on!!!!! I change out my FF's yearly......or about every 20,000 miles. It's worked for me with 2 Dodge Cummins now!!!IMHO, if you run enough "fuel" through your truck, this shouldn't be a problem. The problem arises if you let your truck for long periods of time with large temperature swings!!! I use about a tank of fuel every 10 days on average..............not a concern for me unless I get a bad tank of fuel. But I drive my truck enough to know that!!!! I hope!!!
  21. Bump to the top, hoping for an update!!!
  22. I've got the SpynTec version of the "free spin" hub kits. Installed it in July, and have almost 9000 miles on her now. I've picked up around 1mpg easily. That said; in regard to the OP, my Bud with an '03 had his transfer case go away also. No particular reason, except he had about 250,000 miles on it at the time!!!!
  23. According to my Smarty Revo "destructions".......................SW5 is "Advanced" timing; but not "max" timing..................the "even" numbered Smarty settings are stock timing. On the the "REVO" tune I have, I run the "default" settings...................which is "mild" timing advancement. Sorry!!! I STAND CORRECTED!!! I'm a dope!!!
  24. All I can tell y'all is what I've done!!!! I "cannot" run my Smarty Revo with "advanced timing", because I get "timing rattle"!!!
  25. When I bought my new batteries, I got them from WallyWorld. For $75.00 each, and with the warranty good at all stores, and with WallyWorlds everywhere.........except by Michael.........it was a "no brainer" for me.There are only about 3-4 battery manufacturers around............and one of them makes the WallyWorld ones!!!
