Who all does transportation, here?
On my yearly NoDak hunting trip; both driving up and back, I saw lots of motorhomes being driven up to western NoDak where the oil is booming...........similar to the flow of motorhomes that got towed to the gulf after Katrina. They can't build homes fast enough out there. Don't know if you could get into something like that. Don't know how long it'll last either until they catch up with permanent housing. Don't know if you'd want to do for long if'n you have a wife and/or kids and/or pets.

Tire Update
Back when I had my '99, the OEM tires were Michelin LTX M&S. Got 125,000 miles out of those bad boys. My '04.5 came with Michelin LTX AS. Got 81,000 out of those, but they sucked in all conditions except dry pavement!!! I've heard great things about the Toyo M55's..............very, very pricey though.I stick with Cooper now. Good tires that are made in the USA.

Tire Update
I'm just opposite of you.............I've never, ever had good luck with Goodyears on a pickup truck rated for more than 150/1500/half-ton rated!!!!! Not arguing, just saying!!!! I've always run my tires "hard". On my '04.5, I try to keep 70psi in all 4 corners. Seems to work well, for me, with my on and off trailer towing. All that said, I've never had a set of tires that I've gotten less than 60,000miles off of!!!!! Could be the grandpa driving style I do!!!:smart:

Tire Update
OK guys; I put on just under 22,000 miles on my Cooper Discoverer AT3's since I got them. Almost at 1 year since purchase!!!:smart:These are some really fine tires y'all. No appreciable wear, and no drop in mileage in normal driving. Pretty good in mud and slimy conditions.............as we had to 4 wheel into a hunting spot in NoDak...............4+miles off road in misty/rainy/muddy weather. The AT3'S did well.......much better than my buds Goodyears.I'll surely recommend these bad boys if ever asked!!!! Only downside is that they don't make these in an LT255/80 17E!!!!

Wood Heat.....................Lovin' It!!!
Granted, my new stove hasn't been going 24/7; but it's almost Nov., and I haven't flipped the switch to turn on my furnace yet!!!!!!:thumbup2: As of now, I'm only running it on an "as needed" basis...........to keep the chill out of the house as well as the humidity.I tried taking some pix last night of my little Engander 13NC cruising at 650* stove-top with the "secondaries" going like the "northern lights"!!!!! Don't know how to set my camera for such stuff!!!!!:duh: The pix sucked.........even I couldn't figure them out.........and I wasn't gonna post some crap for y'all!!!!!Wish me luck..........I'll try again later tonite once the temps drop to get some "secondary flame" pix for y'all.

.....speaking of firewood... firechief wood furnace?
The stove I recently installed and have been using is made by Englander. They also go by the name of Timber Ridge and Summers Heat. They are sold at the big box home stores like Home Depot and Lowes. The model I have is the 13NC..............the big brother of this stove is the 30NC. Both stoves are no frills heaters, but built like tanks and very resonably priced. Below is a great site for wood stove, pellet stove, coal, gas stoves etc. Be forewarned though; the site is run by folks that lean way Left in their political views. They are very knowledgable about stoves though. http://www.hearth.com

Code Procedure
What I looking for is this.....................Pull up code A on truck...................go to code A in repair manual/whatever and they list, in order, what to check and to do to eliminate certain things and to isolate the true cause of the code.We all know that what the code says it is, doesn't mean that's the real cause of the code.

OEM Air Filter Box

Code Procedure
I know there are the 3rd gen diagnostic codes listed here. What I'm wondering is where do I find the "procedures" involved for delving into these. You know, like the stealership would do................they pull up a code, and look into their book/'puter for the "proper" way to fix it. First check ABCDEFGH then I etc. That's all.

OEM Air Filter Box
I re-installed mine today. The rubber on my "washable" AEM filter on my Fram Boost 2 intake system was cracking/dry-rotting pretty good. Didn't feel like spending the coin for a new filter, so I re-installed the OEM filter box and filter. The OEM filter only had just over 12k mile on it when I tore it out originally. You know guys.............I kinda like the quiet.............no turbo whistle I mean. I forgot what it was like!!! When I have time, I'll "swiss-cheese" the airbox................not that it needs it, the OEM system flows enough air for about 500hp!!!

First winter snow are you ready?
Where you at Rancherman??? I was in North Dakota last week, on my annual waterfowl hunting trip....................I forget which days it was, but we had 2 days of sustained 40-45mph winds with gusts up to 70mph. Believe it or not, twas good ducking in those conditions!!! I believe I'm ready for winter.............got the truck ready for the NoDak trip, so I hope I'm good to go!!! Changed oil, oil filters, greased front end and drive line, cleaned air filter, and put emergency stuff back into truck............you know, warm clothes, tools, etc.!! Got all my firewood cut, split, and stacked!!!

NV4500 Woes ? what is going on ?
Chatter isn't the right way to describe the sound ISX...............and I cannot think of a word that fits in this case. All I know is that the NV5600 in my '04.5 doesn't make that sound if I lug her down like my '99 did with the NV4500. That's all!!

NV4500 Woes ? what is going on ?
Why would you's guys base the "superiority" of a transmission based specifically on it's "re-buildability"???????:banghead: I for one, never hope to have to have a tranny rebuilt..............clutch excluded............under present economic circumstances.I don't know anything about rebuilding trannys; but IMHO, the NV5600 is a superior tranny for towing.........especially heavy. It's a more robust tranny, and it doesn't give you the chatter if you lug her down.........like the NV4500 does. Not that I lug my 5600 often!!!!!! And it doesn't lose rpm's between shifts as much and it has "shorter sideways" throws between gears.

mopar fluids
Ditto for me........except for engine oil....................I use Valvoline Premium Blue now............mainly because I got a great deal on it a year ago and bought a case!! Otherwise it'd still be WallyWorld SuperTech!!!
