  1. Talk to Forrest Gore about that Rogan.........aka Mr. Global Warming!!!
  2. That is correct!!!
  3. With a modified CP3, 8psi is probably too little lift pump pressure......especially with a heavy foot. If you're looking to replace the AD, I'd have to say to get the Raptor system. High quality, built in pressure regulator (no return fuel line) and easy install. IIRC, if you're still running the factory fuel filter housing with the plastic cap, you can run up to about 60psi before the plastic cap cracks. Most guys run from 18-40psi. Some of them have LP systems that increase LP psi as the engine rpms increase. Mine usually is about 25-27psi depending on fuel temperature.
  4. I ran a "capped" rail for about 50,000 miles. Not one problem. I'm not running anywhere near max RP though. If you're running near max RP, with a capped rail; the possibility exists of blowing out injectors. Especially in and then out of the throttle where there is microseconds of RP that is off the scale and very damaging.
  5. This^^^^^^ That means you'll have to use the "even" numbered Catcher programs on the Smarty.
  6. I'll take the snow over the windy, rainy, damp crap we have now. It's almost the same out now as when I started this thread.......just a few degrees warmer. They're calling for severe storms here tonight...........heavy rain, lightning and hail possible.
  7. Sounds like this one's gonna be a challenge!!!!:2cents:IMHO, we still need more info!!!
  8. I'm not a 100% believer in the backside of the RPRV test..........because of backfeed thru the system. Unless someone can prove to me otherwise, I don't think breaking the banjo on the topside of the RPRV is a "true" test of it. However, I believe it's TS Diesel that makes an aftermarket RPRV that'll be made to your specifications and will undergo multiple "blow offs". Since this is a rebuild, check the injector return lines.......they could be bleeding off fuel..... This is fairly common on rebuilds and injector installs. That, along with what I said above..........some other members here should be chipping in here shortly and may provide more insight for you!! Welcome to the site!!!!:thumb1:
  9. Today around here is a perfect example of why I hate March/early Spring around here...............It's 36* outside and raining hard with a 15mph wind from the East off of Lake Michigan. It's effing bone chilling cold outside now. I'll take the -20* and wind as long as all the water is frozen solid. At least it's dry!!!! It's so blasted damp and wet out, that you can't get/feel warm!!!!! I'm not a puss either!!! My Grandpa used to say that damp wind had razor blades in it!!!!! He was right!!!!!

Would the 04.5 & 05's be that much different??? I know there were some minor changes to the programming, but isn't all the hardware the essentially the same??!! That is unless I missed that EFILive is available for the 04.5 and 05's!!!
  11. Fill out your signature so we know what you have on your truck..........mods, miles etc. How was the truck running under these conditions though???? Normal or no power???? Normally you're not gonna pop the RPRV unless you are over about 26,000psi of RP. Before you check into the RPRV, check your fuel filter/filters. If they check out, then check your lift pump. If that checks out, then do a check on the FCA (Fuel Control Actuator) on the back of the CP3. If the truck was running fine otherwise, is could be the RP sensor. I would look into those things before digging into the RPRV. That's a start.......please provide info on your truck in your signature though..........we can help you better.
  12. Safe travels Mike!!!:thumb1:
  13. Was it Mike that said after 999,999 that the truck doesn't go back to 0.......it stays at 999,999????
  14. Wow!!!!! A 2002!!!!!! She ain't even broke in yet!!! Wanna sell her??? I'll offer a fair price !! Is this your "Sunday, go to meeting" truck??!!!

There you go........thinking again!!!!!! You do know that fuel delivery varies according to many variables.......right????? You've got a 1st gen so everything is mechanical..........you may be able to do it. I don't have the foggiest how you would even begin on a 2nd or 3rd gen truck!!!!:stuned:I would think the guys that write the software for programmers could figure this stuff out rather easily. Marco, the Smarty guy, is a miracle worker. I'm sure he know a lot more than he programs into the Smarty stuff. Mike, am I wrong here???? You're the 'puter guy............what does it take to cipher all the algorhythms in a fueling program on our trucks???
  16. I drive around all the time on SW5 on the Smarty Revo program. IIRC, it's the 130hp tune. And, yes, on SW5, i've never seen over 1100*..........even towing!!!!!!! This is the same setting that got me 23.3mpg and 734 miles on one tank of fuel, (non-towing) this past summer. Now, when I work, I drive around with a 3500lb trailer in tow. Not the mega weight many are towing, but I tow all the time. So I think what I say would be good advice to others on this forum. On edit here........I've tried SW7......the 170hp program on the Smarty Revo. To me, the SW5 setting was faster and cooler on my truck. SW7 was about the same power(SOP) but really smokey!!!!!! Not arguing just saying. All my mods are in my signature..
  17. It's been reported the Sarah Palin has been offered $4 million dollars to pose for Playboy magazines June issue!!!! On that same note, National Geographic has offered Michelle Obama $50 dollars to appear in their magazine. On the lighter side of the news today......... Remember when KFC had the "Hillary Meal"........2 small breasts and 2 fat thighs?????? Well; they,KFC, has announced the new "Obama Cabinet Bucket"............all left wings and a__holes!!!!!!
  18. I was talking with Dad today. He expressed interest selling his motorhome. It's a '86 Southwind and I think it's 26' in length. Has the GM 454 gasser engine. Everything works in it.......heater, water pump, frig, lights. Mom and Dad want to unload it because they're 70+ now........and Dad isn't mechanically inclined for repairs and such. AKA..............it's nickel and diming them more than they're getting out of it. Takers.....anyone????? Actually, I'm posting this just to get an idea what it's worth. Probably needs some front end work done.........65,000 miles on her.........but still drives real good.
  19. Mike, when I bought my '99, LT245/75 16E was the stock size. I don't know if they change rims between my old truck and yours, but when I put 265's on my '99 stock rims, they never quite sat or drove right. Truck always felt "loosey goosey"!!! AH64ID, I really wish Cooper made the Discoverer ATR's in LT255/80 17E..........I think the dually crowd would beat a path to their doors!!!!! For me, I'll never buy Goodyear tires or BFG tires. I've had to many issues with them and too many folks I know that tow have had issues with them. Let me back up here..........not all BFG tires............just the AllTerrain TA KO's.....................death wobble starter kit IMHO!!!!!! Don't know what it is about these tires, but if you read enough stories about DW, the BFG AllTerain TA KO's are involved in probably 75%+ of the cases!!!! I'm gonna e-mail Cooper and ask if they've got any interest in the LT255/80 17E. I'll let y'all know if I get a response.
  20. That's why most everyone loves the Smarty!!!!! More power and cooler temps than the J w/A. I also get better all around and highway cruising mileage with the Smarty vs. the Juice. Not arguing, just saying!!! This is "on edit" here.........I forgot to say above, that I've only seen 1100* on the EGT gauge less that 5 times since running the Smarty. All were due to me in part by lugging the engine while towing going up an incline in too high a gear. I can say with confidence the the Edge warning sirens would've been going off and the the EGT's would've been 1500+. JMHO.
  21. Almost 2 weeks is way out of line IMHO.............Has he done "any" work on it at all????? If not, go there, ask for your parts, your keys and then leave. Take it somewheres else.
  22. What I have now. Smarty Revo.........EGT, boost, LP and RP. --- Update to the previous post... I liked the Edge J w/A. I ran it for almost 4 years. It makes good power.......but does so by running hot. EGT would go 1300*+ and still be climbing. Be careful with it.
  23. Now....Valvoline Premium Blue 15W40Prior.....WallyWorld SuperTech 15W40
  24. Believe me, I run a lot of my yearly mileage on gravel roads. Some around here, and most in North Dakota and in Missouri. Tire life is not a problem for me, but I do drive like a senior citizen!!!! I saw a post over on the TDR about the M55's possibly being made in more 17" sizes. That'd be great, because everyone that I've known that's run the Toyo OC AT's hates them............but the few that've run the Toyo M-55's love them.
