Unidentified noise
Because, they say they are non serviceable. Therefore no one greases them, lol. I'll look into adding zerks, though, If they're good, lol.

Front drive shaft double cardan joint
...man, you always have bad news for me.

Front drive shaft double cardan joint
:l Stupid drive shaft... U joints shot, and the centering ball probably needs done too. Bought the ball kit at oh reallys yesterday. 50 smackers for a ball with needles in it. Wow... The boot on the joint looks toast too, so she do i get that from? Thinking i should return the ball kit and order online somewhere instead. A new drive shaft is 2x as much than replacing the parts myself. Thoughts?

I don't have 4 wheel abs anyways.. at least i don't think i do. My wheels lock up on me anyways, despite my abs light never coming on.

Fuel pressure problem, again
I don't have any inclines around me to utilize. I talked to Eric at Vulcan performance. He said my next step is to call air dog. I'm going to see what they have to say first then go from there. Also going to put a new water separator in.

Fuel pressure problem, again
Suction and return line in bucket... Truck would not start like normal. Still going to have to hunt down the problem.

I know the oem units are sealed, how are you greasing them?

I sure hope they aren't wheel bearings. I cannot afford 300 to replace those suckers!

Unidentified noise
If i go straight down the road, it doesn't make the noise. But If i were to brake, even going straight, it would do it. It'll have to be something to check this weekend... i pulled the front drive shaft last night only one joint looked okay. One of the needle caps was shattered. With everything needing my attention on this truck, a newer one is looking better and better...lol.

Fuel pressure problem, again
Got around to doing the bucket test last night. It passed the test. So now I'm trying to figure out where else it could be. Tried to talk to Eric but as soon as i came into the building at work i lost him. Going to try him again tomorrow. Anyone have ideas? Could it be the air water separator is plugged?

Unidentified noise
Ever since i hit the deer, the truck has been making a funny noise. Anytime i hit the brakes or turn the steering wheel, i get an oscillating chirp noise that follows vehicle speed. I can't feel it in the steering or braking but annoying. Could it be coincidence, and be front u joints or??? Ugh...

TIRES
How are those tires holding up? How do they do for you in the winter? Do you drove those in the summer too?
-
TIRES
This is the tire i was thinking of: https://www.treadwright.com/collections/filter/products/warden-w2816e?variant=5386824707 3300lb rating, more than axle rating on rear, but just not as much load as current tires. I'm not pulling 5th as much anymore, if i do it's empty anyways.
-
TIRES
While they offer great characteristics, how about load ratings. Are you hauling anything heavy with them?

TIRES
Those treadwrights are definitely attractive to me... Looking at the warden style...

TIRES
My tires need replaced before winter makes its head. What's the popular suggestion for tires these days? I'm half pave half off road. It snows a boat load in the winter. I'd like something with a high load rating, but also aggressive enough to keep my traction and give me longevity. While i realize I'm asking for the perfect tire, there has to be something close! I'm thinking about going with oem size tires also. But I've also wondered about different wheels and sizes. So what's everyone say...

Notes from the wilderness!!!
This is a long term solution I have planned for the future. You also want to go with the reinforced plastic instead. Many construction sites will use it to close out a hole so they can keep the heat in while building in the winter. Here's an example: https://goo.gl/images/k2xvr2 https://goo.gl/images/5hWwxh Many job sites will throw the stuff away after using it. Bricklayers are notorious for using it to close off their scaffolding as they lay brick and need to heat the area to allow the mortar to set.

...I never thought I would
I only plan on using the light off highway in the rural area. I can usually see a vehicle soon enough to turn it off before it becomes a problem. There's a couple people that do the same thing already, just haven't seen them in a while.

I know the bumper will be a false sense of security to a point. But it sure beats the oem bumper... I was concerned that hitting her head on would have been worse than a somewhat glancing blow. She slid just as far as I did down the road. There is a nice skid mark from my tire on the road now and passing it up last night from work was quite impressive to see how long it was. No wonder I have a flat spot on my tire now. When I locked up I thought she got wedged in my tire area, she may very have though as I had hair on the tire even. I'm not concerned much about the bumper and people working on it. The only cussing about it will be me, so I know I'll get one that will still allow me to do what I need to do. This is what I plan on getting installed on the truck for lighting:

...I never thought I would
I think the fawn was developed enough to make it. The does are dropping fawns right now. Matter of fact, Tuesday, on the way to work a doe crossed the road and traffic was still stopped. Out comes the little one and you could tell it was it's first time crossing. Tip toeing across. Very cute to watch. On the way home, once I turn off the highway, it's all risky. Deer everywhere always. This one got me by surprise. I do worry some about getting them through the windshield, but what can you do... The plan consists of a new bumper and a 55 inch curved led light on top of the cab to see further out when in the rural area.

...I never thought I would
Heading home from work tonight, got real close to home and doing speed limit at 45. Crested a hill and deer on side of road. It looked to turn around and go back. I speed up instead of braking and it decided to run out in front instead! Nailed a doe in the rearward area. Hit her with drivers side bumper area. Took out valence, black trim on bumper and marker light. Driver side tire locked up and I skid to a stop. Put a flat spot on tire too. Ugh... Got out to assess the damage. Deer, dead. But she's PREGNANT. baby kicking in the womb. Wife freaking out. So I do the unthinkable. Drug the deer to the shoulder, cut her open and pulled the fawn out. Umbilical cord was severed and was not in the placenta. Did CPR for probably 30 min. Working on getting fluid out of the lungs by sticking fingers in mouth and hanging by the hinds. Compressions were difficult. I really thought I felt a heart beat at some points. Did breathes and got fluid out of lungs but still no response. I wore myself out on that poor little thing and dunno if I could have done any better or more. Really sucks to have not been able to get it resuscitated. I keep wondering to myself if it would of even had a chance in the first place. If the cord was severed and not even in the placenta, it seems like the truck did a fatal hit to the fawn. Needless to say, I never thought I was actually ever going to give a deer or fawn for that matter cpr. Not to mention the first time I've ever had to put any of my training into action would be a deer! What a screwed night... guess this reinforces the need for a better bumper now.
