Fuel line
Since the weather has been warming back up, I have forgotten that I still have a problem with the truck cranking because of air in the fuel system. I think I'm convinced that the fuel lines supplied to me from AD are now dry cracking and allowing air into the system. I recently discovered fuel leaking from the top of the tank. Something I think is attributed to cracked fuel lines under pressure... It does not leave puddles, but it does drip occasionally. Any thoughts? I'm thinking I might want to redo the line with something else, but dunno what. I also have the JIC(IIRC) fittings, which would need to go or I have to retrofit everything... This makes me sad...

Camper vs trailer
Alright, so going to camping world yesterday showed that I could get myself into hotter water. No dealer Will take my trailer except consignment. No surprise there. Then we looked at doing a trade in. We found a travel trailer at 23 feet long for 24k. Monthly payment would have been about 300 month worst case scenario. But they would only give me 46k for my trailer. 10k less than I owe. Not gonna happen. I won't pay too just get into another loan. So it's time to try doing private party sale. Wish me luck! I can ask for nada value much easier and give the buyer an incentive to buy at my owing price. Everyone should come out on top!

Camper vs trailer
HA! I got the trailer emptied out last night. I'm going to camping world today to see what they're willing to do. I'll have to clean the trailer this weekend coming up and then fight with blue dog for warranty work. I'm ticked off about keystones trailer quality. Don't ever buy a keystone rv trailer! Lol, that being said, my co-workers husband is looking at possibly buying the trailer from me as well. It sure would be nice. Im going to try and work this from the most ideal situation to the least ideal. Blue dog doesn't even want it until maybe the fall and then they might do it as a consignment. Thanks for the support, jerks!

A little future project
So in the beekeepers world we have a few tricks up our sleeve to preserve our wooden equipment. In my area, we use pine. I paint my boxes. By maybe another two I could consider: 1. Copper napthenate. How to apply it to a log though? 2. Hot wax dipping. Cut wax with rosin and cook the equipment at high heat in the mix. Wonder if I could use something like turpentine with wax.

A little future project
During Nov. we had a heck of a wind storm come through that took out a lot of trees. One night, taking trash out, in the dead of silence, I hear a crashing sound. Fast forward and I found out what it was. A large ponderosa pine with an approx DBH of atleast 32 in! There is also another one that fell next to it. Looks like it y'ed off into two crowns and snapped at the y. I still have an aprrox. 20 or more feet of that still standing. The previous owners also felled two large ponderosa's in the front. One was bucked up and I used for firewood, while the other still lays in whole length. Now, what I was thinking was utilizing these trees for some sort of domestic purpose. Rather than bucking them up and burning for heat, I would like to see these large logs used for something with more purpose. If the mill I was supposed to get would have gone through, I would be making lumber! But I guess my offer was less than their pride... So, I had a thought. I want to build a front and back deck! Why not use them as building materials for the deck! Yea! Log verticals and maybe some support pieces, etc. Then it dawned on me. Once I cut them and peel them, then what? I need to preserve them somehow! I know there are those out there on this forum who have had to go down this road before. What to do? I've been told by some before to use thompsons water seal mixed with diesel. Not sure how well that would work. I just need something that is lower maintenance and does the job. I started thinking about whether or not to sink them into the ground or if I should pour footings and mount them on that say 1 to 2 feet above grade? Maybe do some stone veneer, etc. Anyways, the point of this thread is what preservative could I use?

Camper vs trailer
At the time, like usual, it was what I felt out of necessity. When I was doing construction, I was trying to satisfy the best of both worlds. Wife did not want me to travel and her be stuck somewhere. I didnt have a place to call home anyways and figured I might as well have one on wheels. We were living in my parents basement for about a year and I was wearing out my welcome. So we pulled the trigger on a trailer. We really believed we were going to live in it for a very long time. I was going to keep pursuing my job and keep going. But after traveling for a little bit, my employer pretty much lost interest in me and I was without work. We worked are rears off for 3 months with the promise of having at least 6 months worth of work for the first phase of the job. He had 3 jobs in the area that was supposed to last 2 1/2 years. I saw the writing on the wall. My time was short. Once the snow started flying after coming back to Sandpoint I told them dont bother asking me to go anywhere as I was not going to pull it in the snow. My time with that company ended and then I got the job I have now. MUCH happier with it and have obviously enough money to pay the bills and some. But before we bought the house, we knew getting rid of the 5th wheel was needed. I dunno if I'm upside down on it. I really hope I can just walk away from it without paying or getting into another loan. Its hard to say. The dealer told me they thought the only reason I got the thing in the first place was because of the monster package it came with. It was supposed to be a ton of extras that was "free" from the manufacturer to up the value without requiring a higher MSRP. It was like buying a house for less than it was worth and having equity in my favor. I would have bought a small travel trailer from the get go, but me and the wife and two dogs. I think she would have gone crazy living that small! Where can I go to find out the value of it? I'm having a hard time finding something like a kelley blue book for RV's.

Camper vs trailer
Ideally, I could just get rid of the trailer and not have anything. But being that I still owe on it, I'm betting they would not take it unless I agreed to get into something else of lesser. It'll really boil down to the numbers and what they are willing to do. I'd like to get rid of it and get the payments out of my life. And agreed, I can use that to help pay down principal on the house. All I can do is hope for the best plan for the worst! I was concerned about hauling weight. Although, I'm not sure it would be something like what the pin weight was for my toyhauler. Which I estimated was almost 4k pounds. I think my wife really needs to step inside a camper to get an idea of what she would be facing. I like the appeal of the small footprint of a camper and the ability to tow behind me if need be. It'd be convenient as well as I would not need to worry about a trailer if I wanted to go somewhere limited, like you said. When you stay in your camper is it just you and your wife? I understand space is limited, but how inconvenient is it? I have seen some campers with slide outs as well, but not too hot on the idea of a potential leak area. It sure did help to add to space though!

Camper vs trailer
With our new home in our budget now, the need for such a large trailer like our toyhauler is just not necessary for us now. Especially the hefty monthly payment for it. We are looking to downsize to something smaller and affordable. I would like to better utilize the money for other things that can get me ahead instead of paying on an RV that I might use once or twice a year, but paying for it all year long. I'm at a bit of a crossroad with what I want. I would like to get something small if I had to choose a travel trailer. But the idea of a camper is also very appealing as well. We may do some occasional traveling in long distance. We also may go camping once or twice a year in the forest. We do plan on a family some day, but we already live in the woods. I would still want to take them camping when they're older, but that doesnt mean they have to be in a trailer. Tents work just fine too! Maybe eventually have elk camp again someday. The other idea I had was with my future beekeeping ventures or another thought of versatility is to secure the camper to a gooseneck and have it transport that way. I may eventually go into the migratory thing. Do you still have to tab a camper like a trailer every year? I know I could have to step up my plate endorsement if hauling it since I will be heavier than 8800 lbs for the roads. ID taxes you if you drive heavy. I cant remember if this applied to recreationalists or not. Also, I'm concerned about a camper and how it affects the drive-ability of the truck vs a trailer. Anyways, I'll be working on clearing and cleaning out the toyhauler soon and taking her back down to a dealer for a down trade soon. I just need some other input on the matter to help me make a decision!

Notes from the wilderness!!!
Ugh.. this reminds of a time we butchered 120 meat chickens a few years ago. I think it was 6 of us 10-12 hours straight that day. All I did mostly was cut throats. Filled a 5 gallon bucket halfway with coag. blood. I was so disgusted with everything afterwards I did not eat the chicken for quite a while. But I once again have plans to do it again, just not at that scale, once we get things going more as we settle in, with our house.

Get Out Of That Truck & HELP!!!!!!
I can only wonder what prompted the start of this thread? I've always been that type of person to offer a helping hand. And sometimes afterwards, I think to myself how it was probably worse to do something than not. Most times its okay. Amazingly, I have not experienced many traumatic things that put me in much danger. A persons first reaction is going to be shock from the event. Then they will blindly approach something to gawk at it. A person ought to think twice about whats really unfolding in front of them before making some determination on what to do. Call 911 first. Afterwards, legal obligation goes out the window. But moral, ethical sets in. Do you really know what your doing? Are you going to help or hinder progress? You could cause yourself to be another victim. If you don't know how to properly assess the dangers, stay away from it. Alot of people are not properly equipped to face the dangers or hazards that could face them. Thats why we have first responders. They got all toys and gadgets to handle things, rightly. My point being, if you witness something that is not an immediate danger to life or health, don't intervene directly. Stop before the accident or area and be the one to alert others. Call 911 if necessary. If you happen to come upon or see something unfold, such as a car fire, an accident of sorts, or maybe a vehicle go into a body of water, it just may be that time to take action on your behalf. It really boils down to how much of your life or safety do you want to risk for someone elses sake. I'm not going to stop you, and I may even join you. But try to remember, stay calm, don't get tunnel vision and do a 360 of the area before you do something that may kill you. One incident you may recall from my posts is my MIL. She was coming home from work one night and hit a patch of road that caused her to lose control. She ended up going into a creek near the house. Thankfully it turned out to be for the better. But if I was a passerby that night and saw her stuck in the truck, I would have go in to save her from the water. I always have a 1st aid kit, various tools that can accomplish certain things, a chainsaw, emergency blankets, a firearm, and water. If you really feel your lacking in the ability to do certain humane things, take a local 1st aid, cpr class and/or CERT class. This will atleast somewhat empower you with more knowledge on how to deal with something so 1st responders can transition into the scene.

Where do the beams go? The shop is 60x40 with the trusses clear spanning about 40 feet. Do I have to build a load bearing wall in the middle of the shop? I'll use 2x10 or 2x12 for joists. The posts look to be 12 feet apart, maybe 10. 5 trusses in total. Eventually I would like pour the foundation, might get someone instead just depends on money. Know a few people who do it for a living. I own a manufactured home so I technically can't attach anything to it legally. I have to build the decks just a smidge from the house and have it be it's own load bearing setup.- Shed some light for me
Alright, I have lots of plans ahead of me with this new place of mine. Hopefully I will make some good headway this year on things without going broke! Part of this is to do some framing work. Whether that be the front and back decks I'd like to put to a couple extra bedrooms to adding a loft, partition wall and storage space to the shop to the ADU I would like to build. As you can tell there is alot of work in store for me just in framing work. The ADU and shop are pole building style and I need some advice on it. I do plan on buying a couple books on framing to help me along the way and also watch all the youtube videos I can. Around my neck of the woods, I can do just about anything I want without restrictions to codes and permits. Does anyone here have experience in framing and/or pole building? I sure would like to pick your brain on alot of things. This spring, as long as I can find out about my septic portion, I would like to start breaking ground on the ADU. I would like to get the vertical posts set and a pad poured out for it too. I plan on making it into a 2bd/1.5ba 2 story with 1 car garage. Good little layout for the MIL to live in...- Having Line X Applied to Hood
You should recall the suggestion I have made about AL's Liner: You can use the OEM paint code to pigment the liner and you can make it as smooth or rough as you want it. You could literally make your hood look darn near like it never has the liner on it in the first place. - Rand Paul Bows out of the race
