  1. I have to be able to have a justification for the budget committee... If I total the truck, it's a deductible. If I buy a bumper, it starts at 1000. But I really like my truck... I think im getting warmer! http://cppdiesel.com/cpp-you-build-it-bumper-new-design-94-02-dodge-ram/?gclid=CKqa49i3-MgCFYZefgod910JwQ
  2. Need a good cheaper bumper. It's only a matter of Time before I hit a deer on my New commute route. Any recommendations?
  3. My wife receives this treatment for her condition. Please look into it for yours. This link says it could treat MS. http://www.actionsportsmedicine.com/Prolotherapy.php
  4. So for quite sometime now, been driving like a hyper miler. Or atleast, I thought. Try to drive within the power band, coast to lights, use brakes as little as possible. So I got the idea, let's see how I do driving like a normal person. So instead of driving in2nd gear, to keep the rpms up, I drive normally letting the transmission determine the gear. I went from an approximate 400 miles per tank to an approximate 600 per tank. I gained another 200 miles by just keeping the gear selector in drive!!! Now I'm going to try and see what else I can squeeze from this puppy!
  5. Here is my wood pile. 10 to 12 cord from a log truck. Mostly paper birch with some fir and larch. Obviously needs to be css'ed still, but the worst part of getting the wood is done.
  6. noodling time!
  7. Volkswagen TDI.... 45+ mpg
  8. The trucks been doing pretty good. Although it has not Sat more than a day at a time, so it's hard to tell at the moment if I'm still having the problem. I have noticed that my fuel pressure has evened out. I replaced the lift pump back in winter and the pressures sucked. Worse than before replacing. I would see a 6psi or more fluctuation. After bleeding the injectors, pressure has not had as much a swing. I dunno what odds going on... When I get the chance the truck will be put down and I'm going to tear into it and get things fixed, etc. Maybe I will find out then...
  9. When I bump the starter initially, iirc, the pressure comes up immediately. It must be on the suction side of things. I have never seen this truck make a single wet spot of anything amazingly. Stock return lines, yes. Except for the AD return line on the AD filter block.. I know this is on the pressure side, but the fuel supply line to the vp44, right before it goes to the vp44, I have cracking in the line. It's not wet that I can tell, but I thought maybe it could be the culprit. I was meaning to try and tale it with some electrical tape to see...
  10. Okay, so i spent about an hour or more tonight after work to get the truck running. I tried cranking and no go. Bump started a few times no go. Battery was almost dead so I hooked a charger up. Then I cracked the injector lines. Cranked more until I got fuel. Tightened up the lines. Cranked, still no go. Then I cracked them again. Got fuel, at number 1. Tightened it up, then cranked again. Finally fired over. Ran rough until I tightened the other two, obviously. So everything must be in working order, except the leak that's causing me to lose prime? Checked the over flow valve and it was functioning. With such a drastic loss in prime, could there be any tell tale secrets?
  11. Lift pump pressure is 20 according to gauge. The wts light stays on for the period that the grid cycles. After, it does not illuminate.
  12. I'll have to try some things when I get home. I was reading that there is a check valve on the injection pump that could get stuck? I had a wait to start light, could it be an ecm issue at all?
  13. Okay, so I have been having trouble with the truck recently. If I let it sit longer than a day, I have to cycle the lift pump to prime to get the truck to fire. Takes a couple tries before it will fire too. If I drive it daily, no problem. I've posted recently about this sort of problem. Today, I primed by cycling the lift pump doing a bump start. Cranked and tried to pop off once. Every time after, no go. So I primed 3 times no go. Then I cracked the injector lines and primed multiple times, no go. I've done everything I think of to try to get it to fire. I have fuel supply to the injection pump, but anything after the pump, dry. Scan gauge show no codes. Is my injection pump giving up the ghost?

..but then the question begs to be asked, why is diesel cheaper then gas now? I heard the corn ethanol subsidy ended?
  15. I know I'm not a common rail owner, but I do know one thing. If I were to ever own one, the first thing that would get replaced would be the injectors. Specifically with smarty bbi injectors! Look them up, they are an investment.
  16. I never have heard anything good about taking a vehicle to Wal-Mart. Not saying that there hasn't been any positives, but I've never heard them. So it put me on edge when I saw the sticker. There is no way to prove if Wal-Mart did anything. For all I know they could have done a point inspection like lube centers do when they do an oil change and topped it off with green coolant. I tried to do a compression test but like I said my tester hose wouldn't fit into the port. The exhaust manifold blocked me. If something bent, I put money on push rods. I'll check them.. I spent 6 hours on it last night tearing into it, I have the right head off and then called it quits for the night. It's absurd how much needs to be removed to get to the engine. I need to know what I can use to clean everything. I've got a pressure washer, purple power degreaser, dawn dish soap, hot boiling water... How can I get the cylinders cleaned out and any internal areas? There is sludge buildup and to me I would like to see a rebuild since it could get hot tanked then... The current coolant flushing cleaners suck now adays...
  17. With as many people in the area as I live who also cut firewood and as limited access, I'll be going the log truck route. It's bad enough to go scrounging for it, then it's all still gotta be css'ed. Log truck delivered to my driveway in 10-12 cord increments. Will be burning at a rate of 4 a year. 2 1/2 years worth of wood for heat!
  18. How's the progress coming? You should already be keeping them in regular hive equipment by now.
  19. So the mother in law has an 1998 Oldsmobile delta 88. It was given to her by her parents when they were living with them and couldn't drive anymore as they were getting too old to drive. When I met my wife 6 years ago the car had sat on the driveway for some time until it aroused my curiosity as to why it wouldn't run. Then I started digging. Finally got it running after paying someone to fix an electrical issue. I did not do any maintenance to it, but suggested things. Whenever there was a repair to be made I tried to do it unless I was not equipped. Fast forward till now. The car was being used as a commuter car and pooling since we live 45 min from work and highway miles. Before this, it may have seen 15 min drives in town miles. I noticed the windshield had a sticker saying it was due for an oil change. So I reminded the mil to get it done. Instead of taking it to her regular Castrol lube center, she took it to.... Wal-Mart!
  20. Anyone have an all data account? Trying to do a head gasket repair on a 1998 Oldsmobile 88. Don't have any info or specs on the repair...
  21. Couldn't wait for rock auto. Went to Napa and got theirs. Problem fixed!
  22. Well, I figured out it isn't my batteries. It's fuel related. Checked the main culprit, the t at the back and it's bone dry. I noticed dry cracking at the fuel line to the injection pump. Wondering if air is getting into the lines. Took 3 cranks today before it fired. Truck sat for 3 days.
  23. Updates, fire has grown to 2k acres overnight and destroyed 6 homes. The seat of the fire occured on the shoreline, ago they think it was from an idiot with a camp fire. The mountain is extremely steep and accelerated quickly. We had strong winds yesterday which didn't help. Passing through town, had a dozen or so vehicles from different agencies and districts going to the fire. I'm shocked they haven't gotten any smoke jumpers inn the fire. This area of land burning is a logistical nightmare. One road in and out and the cliffs have been giving of rock slides because of the heat from the fire. Half the mountain it's burned up now and they are evacuating the whole town of bay view. Pray for some rain without lightning!
