  1. Additives were added before pumping fuel... I brought up the idea of wind chill because I do think it does affect temperatures. Same principle of a person's skin. Any heat at the surface of the skin is stripped away from the wind. I just replaced the fuel filter and was able to get 2 so I've got an extra. It worked! So well i even had to turn the regulator down! Looks like according to Mike i have another couple years before i replace the water separator. Thanks for the help fellas.
  2. The first pump died on me because of the oring seal. When that one died, the fuse just kept blowing and the pump would not prime nor run. Maybe it made this same noise before as well and i just didn't hear it. How do i check to see if the filters are plugged? If i really need to check the fuel Olli use my inspection camera.
  3. Alright, so not only do I have steering components to replace, now I may be facing a 2nd replacement of the AD pump! I went and got fuel the other day and dunno if that is the problem or not. We had a good cold snap come through before I filled up and put some diesel 911 in just in case it got colder than the formula for the fuel. They were telling us to expect -20 with wind chill at the time but the coldest we got with wind chill was -7 I think. It did not last long, but I did not want to risk getting stuck somewhere I shouldn't. The fuel was rated for -10. During this time, pressures were good. It was not until after I filled the tank and put more 911 in to treat the fuel that I started having problems. Now, when I first noticed the problem, pressures were at 12 psi and stayed close and never got below 10. After running a little it may have gotten up to 14psi. I waited a couple days and this evening, idling without grids on, I get about 15psi. So I got under the truck and I could hear a different distinct noise coming from the pump that does not sound normal. Almost like a whirring noise as if maybe I'm sucking air. I really don't know if it is sucking air, but I would imagine this could be a sound as if it were. I upped the pressure to get the proper pressures, but something strange happens as well. I will turn it up slowly and watch the gauge as I do. Once I turn it at certain point, like a 1/16th of a turn, the pressure suddenly spikes and maxes out the gauge. So I turn it back down slowly and the pressure falls off. Its like I no longer get that infinite adjustment and it just goes from one pressure reading to spiking. Could the pump be the culprit or is it the regulator? Could it be poor fuel quality or some gelled fuel getting freed up or stuck? I went to a fuel station that a local fuel company supplies and they provide all the diesel fuel in the area. They are called Coleman oil. ...so help me if this pump strands me again! This would be the second time I would have to replace the pump if its the problem!
  4. I can't remember, are'nt the hinges spot welded on? You might also want to check that when it got yanked the body did not get out whack too. That part could be the worst to fix. I've opened my door one time in a pretty strong wind storm and held on as hard as I could and it still got whipped open. It was not as severe, but with the amount of surface area the door makes as you open it, its like a friggin' wind sail! You could probably coast the truck down the road with both doors open!
  5. ...so did the guy replace the fuse with a larger one or another 40A fuse?
  6. ....hmmm, at the rate you fella's are going, you'd almost think we ought to come together collectively and do some R&D on it and get someone to start doing the maching work on it! I'm sure someone here has a CAD program for CNC, etc...

I know what you mean! I'm itching to see spring! As I speak, its around the freezing mark and we are getting dumped on with snow! Cumulatively, we probably have about 2'. Its still snowing hard. Within 30 minutes time of shoveling the walkway, I've already got probably 2 inches! Atleast it will help warm things back up a bit...

Wow, typically, winter by winter, we don't get lower than -10 as the most extreme. Even then, usually lasts only a few days at the most. The area has been very cold here recently like I said before. Air is very dry. Should start warming up back into the 20's here by tomorrow or so. Been fretting about my bees! Went out and could hear them buzzing to stay warm. Atleast I know they are alive! Lost some of the outer cluster, but still sounds like a little 2-stroke idling along!
  9. When I was cutting mid-summer, by the end of August, the wood would already be checked out and the meter would read 12%! Up here, it seems like the softwoods dry very quickly when it gets full sun exposure...
  10. Its kinda one of the curiosities I have. Ive got more than 200k miles on the truck and just now, the components need replaced... All of it is OEM stuff!
  11. ...but, you have yet to address the look good naked part. ..and, don't tell me!
  12. Did I mention to you guys, that I was 26?
  13. Does napa have good parts? If i were to go to a store like them around here, the boxes would say made in China!
  14. From what I've gathered be careful about springs too. If you do not know which ones they are the could be under rated for the truck.
  15. So, while i was down in Spokane,i Took the truck to a shop i could trust. They told me they could not do the alignment and that the front end is toasted. Someone have a list of parts that i would need for the front? Any upgrades available i would like too. I'm going to replace everything in one shot so i don't have to chase rabbits. I want to replace the gearbox too. Which gearbox do i want? Where can i get all the parts? Rock auto?
  16. How soon do you need it? I'm looking at upgrading my boots so i would have the oems as extra when done.
  17. IIRC, the plug should already be there.
  18. When i was doing firewood, i bought a moisture meter. Came in really handy
  19. I've seen what you mention about the anvil thing.. Although, not too long ago, people from other areas of the world have experienced weird noise phenomena too. No one has ever figured it out either. Here's to hoping it's nothing serious.

Well, last night was our trip home from family in Spokane. we had some pretty crazy wind on the drive but not like what it was when we got home! It was -2 when we got home and seemed like we were playing catch up with heating the trailer all night. Thankfully the temperatures have actually improved since and were sitting at the teens right now with another single digit to sub night. Supposed to improve a little by Thursday. Since I've taken up beekeeping, moving towards warmer year round weather has been on my mind too.

Farmers almanac said our area was supposed to be milder than normal this year. Well January being the coldest month of winter, starting off, this evening we are forecasted to experience an evening low of negative 20with 50mph wind gusts! Might need to pucker up for this one! If the bees live I'll be happy!
  22. So the assumption is that he didn't crack the door a little first before opening it? I can see how that would cause backdrafting... Wet wood would definitely compound the problem. But on the other hand that smoke needs to be very hot to flash like that. I wonder if there was enough proper drafting for the pipe and not causing a reverse air flow.
  23. The way i feel about things is we are consuming the fake stuff. Think about it. Real pure natural wholesome food would make your grocery bill quadruple. My grandparents could tell me what real was. Because of many factors, you only get the real, good stuff at premium. The same stuff that's near 5dollars a gallon to pump now was an everyday fuel back then. Ode to processed foods, and adulterated substitutes!
  24. 100% pure non-adulterated refined petroleum 1960's gasoline, lol!
  25. Man, I still think there is some good countryside where I'm at, but the idea of a little more solitude like you have Mike, would be nice! Just gotta figure out how I could make a living and still do it!
