  1. Approx. 215k miles... When I spoke to the guy, I told him some people have had their head gaskets blow, no matter how they installed them. I said maybe his reason is why it occured? I really dunno how this whole theory chalks up though. Maybe the same principle of doing a fluid flush on a dying tranny? I will be cleaning each hole that I can. I'm also going to use a wooden skewer if possible to measure the depth and then use it to mark the stud so I can get an idea if its bottomed out or not.
  2. Okay, got off the phone with ARP. Interesting set of information I must say.. Kind of clears things up but also muddies up some other things.
  3. Recent politics near me and also in a city I used to call home are gaining some attention! In recent, Wa state has approved a bill called, "i594". http://wagunresponsibility.org/about-594/ http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2025232637_gunrallyxml.html This has certainly heated some things up over here near me. This protest turned out good and no one was arrested or hurt. Just recently, I now became aware of a sticky situation occurring in Spokane. http://www.prisonplanet.com/spokane-police-department-faces-protest-over-sheriff-deputys-shocking-comments.html http://www.prisonplanet.com/police-armored-military-vehicles-needed-for-constitutionalists-with-firearms.html There is more video coverage on PP, infowars youtube channel about the situation in Spokane and the recent events. I'm concerned at how this is going to turn out.. Another associated video is covered of a black hawk chopper circling Spokane. Being that I used to live in Spokane, the recent presence of these choppers has been alarming as I never really seen them as a kid. When I worked in Spokane on a construction job, I would frequently witness choppers of all sorts of makeup circle over the city and do what I would judge as maneuvers. Whether they were an offensive or defensive, I do not know. But wondered why they were doing something like this in the middle of a populated area! Now, we do have Fairchild air force base here that utilizes tankers. Although, I have worked on the base many times and witness more than just tankers flying. I have seen multiple choppers and jets doing flight paths, etc. This is something I have accepted to be the norm for the base as this is what I know of to just be usual training. The startling fact is, recently, in Oct. My mother discussed with me how there was a joint exercise being conducted. Where it was I don't know. I would assume somewhere near the base. Although, this has been unlike any other event, as if it was just a typical exercise, there would be no reason to let the public know! I also have been told there is a tank training range near the Spokane river, west of Spokane. As a kid fishing the river, I could never figure out what was making such loud noises. Well, must have been the tanks. I say all this because sometimes I can discern certain events as what was typical and not unusual for this area. Although, with all that was going on as a kid, never was I woken up by noises that these things made. When my mother alerted me to this exercise that took place in Oct. she was affected by this for a week in the early mornings from the noises this made! She is in the middle of the city! The base is outside of the city and miles from the metro area. I have no idea where this occured. The recent events alarm me as I feel like I have a versed understanding of what is being conducted. I really feel like things are being written on the wall, you just have to look up to see it. Tomorrow, there will be a protest at the Spokane Valley police dept. over the presence of an MRAP in the Sheriff's hands. This protest will involve people who will be armed! My hope is that this will be a peaceful event and that no one will be hurt in this protest. I'm very concerned at what may transpire. I know that the local police in the Spokane area tend to be over-zealous in how they treat a situation. I certainly hope that the local LEO will be briefed in how to respond to this event and act accordingly according to the constitution! Keep your eyes peeled on this one folks! I don't recall a protesting event that has occured such as this one in relation to the MRAP's! My opinion on this matter: - Sheriff, Ozzie, at the time, dept.'s nationwide were making a stance, for or against the people in relation to whether they would stand with any federal officer when conducting unconstitutional gun grabs, stood with the people. He made a public announcement stating that he would protect the people and stand on their side if it were to come to pass. Spokane police dept.'s recently appointed police chief, Mike Straub, which I will also add he is a Californian transplant, stated he stood with the feds and would not hesitate to disarm the public. In this instance, there was at present a large polarization. Most sheriff's stood with the people, and most police stood with the feds. Does the sheriff have alterior motives with the acquisition of this MRAP? I do not know, but I certainly hope that the men under him really do stand with the people and do not cave to any pressure to do otherwise! Pray for these brave people to actively protest their local govt. about a concerning situation! I would have gone to this protest, but was not made aware of the timing until it was too late to make a presence. I will be down with family in the Spokane area for Christmas. If this situation escalates and I believe it needing my presence, I will be sure to inform you all about the situation as it unfolds!
  4. From what im gathering, the lack of need for the involved process of doing these extra things like hot re torquing, or setting of you will say, is supposedly due to the use of the proprietary lube.
  5. How often has this happened? The instructions provided tell me nothing about re torquing. All they say is to follow manufacturers torque specs and tighten them in 3 even sequences with the last sequence to 125 ft.lbs. So I assume what they are saying is to follow head stud torque sequence that dodge did for head install except the last torque sequence is what ARP recommends, to 125 ft. lbs.
  6. I admire your passivity of it, but I like to take more aggressive approach. You have to look at it this way: -As a customer you are essentially their BOSS. You are the one putting that money on their check. If you don't assert yourself as such, of course your going to walked on. Tell the kid to get the off the phone and get to WORK! I'm not afraid to hand someones *** over on a platter to their manager. I have done it before and when the manager comes around I'm getting the *** kissing service I deserved in the first place. I have had a manager escort me through a store as I took my sweet time to find what I needed because it was past closing and then received a discount on top of that. Sometimes you have to grab them by the balls and show them whats up! This reminds of a time when I first bought my 5ther. I had to have it taken back to their shop to get a hydraulic jack replaced as it was leaking before I took possession of it. The shop was 45 min away from where I lived. Well, I was at work and ensured that the wife make it clear what keys the delivery guy needed for the shop to do their work on it. I get a call about a couple hours later from the service manager and she tells me they cannot get into the trailer. OH, really?! I asked her why and she says she needs our keys as we locked the second lock and their master wont work on it. I told her that I had my wife check with the driver to make sure what keys they wanted. She wanted me to drive out to their shop and drop the keys off. I say hey, okay, but because there was a failure of communication on your part, your going to reimburse me for driving out there. She protested it but I reminded her it was not my fault. I did my due diligence! She agreed to credit me $50 towards anything in their store. Fine, I shall see you after work. She was not present when I arrived, but told another associate of the situation. So I asked this guy for help in finding the adapters I needed to reduce the connection down to use an extension cord to power the trailer when I do not have a 50 amp hookup. He said the plug for going to 50 amp to 30 can differentiate between trailers. So I told him mine is in the shop and went to look for me. I once again explained in detail which one mine was. He double-checked said he was 100% confident that the plug was the proper one. So the service manager returns and she checks me out. It was slightly over and she was okay with it. So, I wait the next day, the trailer is delivered back to the house as I did not have my hitch in yet. I get off work and go straight out to the trailer to hook the plug in. WRONG ONE! So, I grumble from this guys lack of grey matter. Me and the wife take another drive out to the shop and asked for the service manager, they said they would let her know. She was not present but would return soon. I wait about 45 min. and she finally returns. I'm waiting by the bathrooms and she comes walking by. She takes a double on me and wonders why I was back. I told her that the plug I had got on the credit was the wrong one. There was only one other style for the 50 amp adapter. So she grabs the guy that helped me and they discuss it. She grabs the other plug and rings it up to exchange it. The guy retorts back that the plug is much more expensive than the one he picked out for me. I told her that I made sure that the day before I would leave with the right plug. Heres the kicker, the guy snaps back and promptly told her that I was lying and that I never told him about my trailer or something to that affect. Now, typically I would come uncorked on the guy for calling me a liar, but the service manager ignored him and followed through. The plug was $120 for mine, and the one he sold me was like $30! Whew, I bet that came out of his check! I'm sure when I walked out that door, his rear was tore to shreds... I guess the moral of the story is, "the squeaky wheel gets the grease!"
  7. I think AH has them?
  8. ...wow, look at this, haha. More than one way to skin a cat, again.
  9. Alright, so there have been a few things in my life that have redirected my outlook on personal health, hygiene, etc. With younger generations focusing more and more on well-being and with increase in awareness of whats in our food and maybe even obamacare, people are focusing on their health more. Now, such a thing does not mean that it affects me and what I do at my day job more, but it makes my future potentially brighter. Like I say, I can't help but brag. Why, you may ask? Well, it turns out, there is a local company that I never knew existed until I saw them hiring when I was looking for work. I knew it had something to do with manufacturing, and it was something I felt I would be qualified to do. Out of desperation, with the last unemployment check cashed, I had to make sure I could obtain this job! Been to plenty of other interviews, no luck. Even was hired on for a week at one job to see if I would work out. That was a complicated situation. But glad I did not get that job looking back on it... So this company I work for now, is involved in the nutraceutical business. I work in production producing some of the goods the company sells. Nutraceuticals is like the opposite of pharmaceutical. Everything we make is made with all natural ingredients that never require a prescription except in special circumstances. They have mainly been in the business of naturopathic/homeopathic. Things are changing within the company and the projected growth into certain other areas makes the business look much more promising and the future ever brighter! I could try and go on and explain the history of the company and how its conducted itself in the past 30 years as a business, but it would be a long winded thread. Needless to say, within the company they include every employee in their training programs. They are a very adamant company of making sure that who works for them is and stays the cream of the crop of workers. Without a good base of employees, the company won't make it! With the way my life has been going, I suppose one could call this wisdom, I find myself seeing things differently and of much more importance. The revelations I experience through life and the awareness I gain from things, truly shows how wretched this world can be. I have been with the company for almost a year now, and by the grace of God, my wife even works there, too. She actually broke out of her shell, stepped out of her comfort zone and reached for something she though she never could do. She became a lead. Its a step below supervisory position and one step higher than me! Wow! Way to go, wifey! Now, bragging about my wife is not the point of this thread. The point is that the company that I never knew about that has been around longer than me, is doing something so great in this world, I cannot help but share it! Many say, work a job you like. Its important to be happy with what you do! I could not agree more. Now, initially, it was just like any other job. It was something that I could hope to collect a check from to just make sure I could keep something over my head and put something in the belly! It has not been without its challenges, and no job is perfect. But really, I can safely say, this job, so far, has been the best I have ever had! Really! I'm actually happy to go to work for this company. I take pride in my work because the company takes pride in itself. The direction the company is going make me feel very special to work for them. Not only are my wages good enough to make a comfortable living, I also receive benefits that exceed my expectations. But what has begun to really help me set this company apart from all the other jobs I worked at, or products that I have had is the type of training I received today. I was made aware of what they do and what their competitors do. Something that has inspired me so much to the point that I cannot help but share this with all of you. I'm not at liberty to discuss this sort of thing as I want to make sure that I'm not violating and rules, but will share a link to their website and you can read up on it yourself. I must say though, if you are an individual that takes your health seriously, and want to gain a deeper understanding what it is exactly what your consuming, you need to read this! Since I have learned about GMO foods, it has got the train rolling. Since this revelation, I now pay attention ALOT more about what I put in my body. It has opened my eyes to a whole new world about things and exposures. I know this all may sound vague, but I'm doing it so there is no possibility of me disclosing something I should not be. So please, if you are taking supplements or anything health related, take some time and read up on this and what is being said about whats being produced in this world! https://thorne.com/purity-and-quality IF the day ever comes that I stop working for them, I will continue to try and take ONLY their products, given what I know about them and how we manufacture our goods! I really do give this place a HUGE ! If anyone has questions about their products, and even interested in purchasing some, PM me and I can get you in a good direction. No, I'm not a sales rep!
  10. Good healthy competition and them being brought to attention of it works well. When someone realizes they could lose their job to the loss of business, most of the time they 180 on you. We had an autozone recently put in and the local o'reilly's got quiet... Attitude adjustment is in order!
  11. Got my studs in the mail today! Popped it open to look it over... I have a couple questions. Instructions say to chase the threads. Where can I get a chaser? Auto parts store? Do any of our studs protrude into the water jackets? Should I use Loctite? The studs are hand tightened, then the "Nuts" are torqued? Says to incrementally torque in three steps and make a final torque to 125 ft. lbs. What do I make the first 2 rounds for in torque? Also included is an illustration showing that I have to machine the rocker cover at stud 24, is this necessary? Anything else I need to know about installing these? (D'oh! Just realized I said AEP not ARP...)
  12. Cedars are a big market up here. There's a few mills around us that do nothing but cedar.
  13. The tree looks to be a western red. They are usually pretty straight grained and easy to split. Good aromatics too. One of the easy ways to get it started is to make a few plunge cuts with the saw to allow the wedges a bite. You can usually control the way it splits that way. Just stay away from the crotches. ...your going to learn a new way to sweat, too, making these.
  14. Yep... Depending on length of rail, i would recommend up to 3 flat wedges. Don't use the "grenades".
  15. W&F listed the big 3... My conflict is that none of these have AWD. If you don't need to factor in snow weather, its easy. But I face the challenge of finding a diesel AWD that is not too new or spendy. Subaru has a diesel but its too new for me and therefore too expensive. I don't like all them danged bells and whistles!
  16. Man, that sure would be nice to mill into some lumber!
  17. ...O_O I'm liking my job! Can't always say that about most. Time is my enemy. I must be patient a little longer. One day I will have my ultimate job. Bees! I will, seriously! Will do! Just gotta stick out the rain a little longer. I hope it will get below 30 so things can freeze again, or get warmer to dry out... Well, it would not surprise me any if I will have to go through it all here soon anyways. Everything looks to be OEM. Not bad for over 200k miles?
  18. Regardless, next time you consider a liner project, refer to: http://www.alsliner.com/ 'nuff said...
  19. Uhhh, wait a second did i miss something here? What happened?
  20. I probably will never consider them again. In fact, I have been thinking about calling them out on it. I get so paranoid about auto shops. I had a little mazda truck I was using for DD'ing a long time ago and had some stuff I needed fixed. I was out of town on a job so a co-worker helped me get it to the shop to be fixed while I was at work. Got my truck back, realized a full, un-opened can of carb cleaner was missing. Ever since then, I get worked up about whether or not I need to take everything out of the truck for fear of one of them getting sticky fingers... BTW, I did not realize I must portray myself as one that is loaded with enough money to make a road trip just to get some front end work done! Or are you just a little excited about the thought and could use some of my company? Isn't this the same method as trying to check the wheel bearings? Looks like I have some fun to look forward to in the snow! Yay! ...so are you telling me I could do my own alignments at home? How does one adjust the toe? I did replace the power steering fluid no more than 2 years ago. Did brake fluid last year. In the 4 years I have owned this truck, I've only put 20k miles on it.... I've heard about doing this too.. Guess its time to try it again. ...that is if they were even telling me the truth! The caliper slide bolts had plenty of grease on them when I bought the calipers. But, because they did not do a tire rotation, I will be getting my chance to take a look at everything! yay! I tell ya, if there is one thing I could have, it would be a well-lit shop, heated, concrete floor and a 2-post lift!
  21. So, I took the truck to a shop this morning with the intention of achieving the usual alignment interval... I get a call about a 1/2 hour or so before work, that they were unable to perform an alignment on my truck. What? Bullhonky! So I had him gather info. on what was going on. 1. RH outer tie rod completely shot. 2. Steering stabilizer done for 3. Steering gearbox sloppy I also asked them to rotate my tires and they said it was done.... Huh, well, little did they realize, my front wheels are discolored from the brake dust. When I got there, they were still in front! grr... They also told me my front outer brake pads were almost worn down to nothing?! I told them I just replaced the pads/calipers less than a year ago! I'm not quite sure what to think as I feel like in order to tell what the pad life on the brakes are, they need to remove the wheels. Which they did not do as since they did not rotate the tires. It just raises my suspicions! I did not realize the steering was that out of whack? I kind of figured the steering was just fine? Maybe I'm just used to how it steers... I need a couple pointers and diagnosing these parts to see if they are really out of spec and they are not just pulling my chain. I already have a hard enough time trusting auto repair shops. They are my necessary evil for alignments, new tires, etc.... So, if indeed these parts need replaced, I might as well get it all done in one fell swoop if not too spendy. What brands should I go with, and if I need a gearbox, which one. If there are alternatives or something to use to upgrade instead and whether or not there will be interferences with other parts. Like I know the steering brace is not compatible with some gearboxes, etc. Basically, what do I need to do to the steering components to make this go away and stay away! I'm looking at doing bilsteins for shocks so I will probably get a dampener from bilstein as well... It was something that was not on my to do list, nor what I wanted to do to the truck. I just ordered head studs to try and take advantage of the deal on it. The wifes not too thrilled about all of this, lol...
  22. Did a little more looking around and found thorough bred diesel has them for cheaper may take that route...
  23. You know, I wonder if this is a transmission issue. Do you go through all the gears getting up to speed? Kind of seems like you have allot of slippage occurring. Do you have a trans temp gauge?
  24. So, I'm not near enough crazy to go out and subject myself to any sort of danger or torture for the next best thing on the day called black Friday. But, I may occasionally take advantage of few things when this time comes around to save an extra dollar when I have the intent on eventually buying something. This time, I have plans on buying head studs for the truck. Been on the to buy list for a little bit now. Since DAP offered them on their black Friday deals I figured I would do them now and save a few dollars instead of waiting when I really needed them. Trouble is, I tried to apply the coupon code and it said it was not valid! So I cannot apply the deal to my purchase. Therefore, I have no incentive to buy them, now. DAP is closed, so by the time I can get a hold of them, the deal ends... Maybe someone can pull a few strings for me and get them to honor it after the fact? I have a couple other things was considering on buying at the same time, too... I really like DAP and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that its probably just a technical glitch in the system. Then again, it had a star that said restrictions apply. I wonder if the heads studs I need are even apart of the black Friday deal? I know someone that's buddies with Jacob is on here!
  25. No ultrasonic. Just scaler/planer tool. Man, I'm kind of shocked you have not just decided to go a different route with your teeth! I googled the whole situation and briefly read up on it. From what I gather, its about accusations of adulterated oils on both sides... I'm going to try some blends from both companies as a place in town has young living and my mother does doterra. I don't care about the company per se, as I'm more concerned about quality, price and effectiveness. She does not have a gluten intolerance, if thats what your trying to say?
