Miss at all RPMs
I vouch for loosening the lines and compression test. Takes alot of guess work out. After that, I'd almost wonder if your cam has a problem with one of the lobes.

Happy Birthday Michael
...one wonders, does mom do this to "rub it in your face"? Or is this the unsuspecting, "Give me a kiss before you go to school, in front of your friends"? At any rate, happy b-day, Mike. Just remember, 44 is just a number, stay young at heart!

How to buy land?
I want to live on it. Get partially pastured, mostly timbered with year round creek. I've been seeing some ads for such places locally for good price. Then again living off the land is my investment.

Cameras... What are you using?
Here is my camera, and phone. Takes good pictures! I'm not a photo guy, yet, and if my phone can't produce the images I want for my bee stuff, then maybe I will spend the money on a dedicated camera. But its just too easy having a camera on the phone.

LED Headlight
I'm going to eventually convert to all LED lighting. Put some in the engine bay like Wareagle did and get some in the front for fog lights and some in the rear for backup. IF someone buys the ones that 98wl posted up, provide feedback!

How to buy land?
Alright, they say the best teacher is experience. Well, I certainly don't want this one to be my teacher in this case! I'd much rather receive advice instead! Life is doing better, things are looking brighter in my world. Work seems to have a great future and so does me and the wife's employment there. Yes, believe it or not we both work at the same place and have the same shift. But different departments. Its a very nice way to make our income. The company seems to appreciate the fact of having family work together as we are not the only ones like this that work there. Alright, so with that being said, I have a few more considerations to take into account, but I still need to get the path laid working towards my goal of getting possession of some land. Obviously, I do not have such liquidity to just buy land outright. I will need a loan from some sort of institution. My question is what is the best way of obtaining one? I have searched a little and find that there may be a few options to my approach: 1. A construction loan 2. Home mortgage loan 3. Open line of credit List others if there is anything else... First, I do not really have a large sum of cash to put down for a down payment. I understand most of the time they look for 20% down, IIRC. One institution I went to for pre-approval said they wanted 50k down before they would consider a construction loan! I'm really trying to figure out how I can obtain land, naked with no buildings and build on it myself in my time. This of course could probably only mean that I would only get a loan for the amount of the land and build with my own money in time. Asking for more to build would probably be denied as the loan would exceed the value? I was approved for a USDA loan to the tune of 210k with an absurd monthly payment. I'm obviously not going to apply for one with that amount unless I became landlord. The only way this approach would be achievable would be to have a large shop with the house. I was told I would not even need a down payment and it would be financed for 100% of the loan. Although, I'm a bit leery about USDA loans... This approach would be the quickest and easiest, but I would not get what I envisioned for. But then again, who is to say I could not build plus, instead? The line of credit thing, I know a guy who did it through his business and built a shop. It was for business purposes, and I would do it the same way. Long term goal is to do beekeeping for a living. I would need a building of some sort for the operation... Of course, I do not want to commit fraud in any way... So, who knows real estate, or has gone through the process enough to give me proper advice for a good approach?

Lift pump suggestions
I personally think, just out of experience with the AD, that a mechanical lift pump like the BOSS or ASSASSIN, is the way to go for lift pumps. Always was turned on to the idea of increasing pressure as RPM does! AirDog's warranty on theirs is lifetime... Personally, if you have not installed the unit already, I would send it back and get a mechanical lift pump. I will always point people in that direction instead of an electrically driven. ...and yes, I'm an owner of an AD lift pump. My first pump laster 6-9 months. The inner seal wore out, diesel got into the motor area and burned it up. AD sent me out a new motor, no questions asked. I was down for a week or so waiting on the pump, though. Since the replacement motor, I've been running fine for 1 1/2 years now. But who knows how long this one will last. If it goes, it will be a hard decision to see whether I just replace it for a mechanical or not...

Not an everday question
Well fellas, I have made my decision. I had to tell them I had to turn it down. I did quit a bit of research on the subject and found that I would have to go with a rotary convertor. I talked to the manufacturer today and he worked the motor out to be approx. 1.75hp motor. So I would have needed about a 3hp or more converter. What got me the most is he told me that there are some parts that are not made for the unit anymore. So, I'm not going to send myself up the creek without any paddles... It was a good run, big learning curve. But I'm glad I did my research, as usual. Thanks for the input on this, guys'. One day when I get that shop, I'm gonna probably get a residential washer by speedqueen, atleast.

Not an everday question
- Not an everday question
Alright, so ever since I volunteered at my local FD, I always have wanted the type of washing machine they had there. As years go on, I finally 'am presented with such an opportunity! My work has switched from doing in-house laundry to contractor. They no longer have a use for the washer and dryer. The two are being sold as a pair for $500! They are both speedqueen brands. The dryer is a large unit. One like you would see at the local laundromat. The washing machine is called an extractor and its a front loader. I mainly want the washer, but given the offer for both, I will be purchasing both. I never thought I could get so giddy about a washer and dryer! The dryer is 110v and uses natural gas. I'm not sure, but if anyone knows, what would be involved in converting it to use propane? The washer; the washer is a different story... Its 220v 3 phase. I felt like a well inflated balloon losing all its air quickly... I got to talking to the maintenance guys on my shift and what I could gather was that ultimately I cant use the machine in residential wiring unless I could find a way to use a convertor to get the single phase into 3. Ultimately, my questions really boil down to: 1. Converting the dryer to propane 2. Making the washer work on residential. I'm a total newb with electrical and it has always been a weak point. Has anyone dealt with either and what could you guys recommend? I also have the model no. to the washer and 'am having trouble getting any literature on it. Just doing a quick search on google, I'm finding that a converter box can go as cheap as 327. To me, even if I had to spend a few hundred to retrofit these to work, its worth it! These units go for thousands a piece! I could do a single load of laundry in both and be good for the week! LOL!- Pressure washers
Can you take a picture of this "box elder bug"? I literally feel plagued by a certain bug around here and we call them a box elder bug. I dunno though as I don't they are a box elder though.- Need advice!
I've been in the same boat before. My work was literally a block away as the crow flew, but I had to drive a couple miles just to get there. The truck still sounded cold when I got into the parking lot, but where was no way I was going to walk that distance in the winter. When it only took less than 10 minutes to drive in the winter, it would have taken 30 minutes or more to walk. Personally, I did not do anything different. Back then, I did not have the fast idle mod from Ed Grafton. All I really did was drive it a little more by making a circuit around town before going home to get it warm and keep the batteries charged. You may want to consider going to the sever service interval regimen if you use your truck like you speak of. Now, I would adhere to that schedule as I know a little more and have the money as well. It will definitely become spendier to drive like this, but it will still be cheaper than paying on a new to you car. I would also recommend a winter front, and consider Ed Grafton's fast idle mod. Before taking off to work or from work, use the 3cyl idle feature and your exhaust brake, if you have one, and let it warm up for atleast a good 5 minutes. I have a Scangauge, so I can see when my coolant peaks out from the feature. Be aware, all of these precautionary steps you take to keep the truck in the healthiest condition for the situation, your mileage is going to tank. So, if your anything like me, you will do a cost comparison and really figure out what works in the long run...- Mouse in the trailer
They will chew through wood! They are stubborn persistent little buggers... Best thing to do is put some traps down against the perimeters of the walls and catch it. Clean their mess up and keep the trailer away from mouse prone areas. Spray around the trailer if you have to or keep some traps outside too. How come I tell you this? ...because I have a mouse problem in the barn and shed! Glue traps are your friend! Consider a "barn cat" if you have not already.- Gauge Time ISSPro EV2's
If you recall,i still have my dipricol pyro. I can't seem to figure out if it was faulty or just my human error. If i can manage to dig it up I'll ship it out to you, if you wanna give it a shot.- 1989 7.3L glow plug issue
http://www.phillipsandtemro.com/heating_technology/air_intake_heaters.asp ;)- Where is the line between too small and too big?
...well, since were all whipping it out and seeing whose is bigger... I'm averaging about 10MPG pulling it. I have oversized tires, and a cracked exhaust manifold. So the mileage would probably do better if I were to remedy these. I also tried to pull it at 55mph any chance I got as it is better MPG wise and stability wise. I'm an SRW so I can't take as much weight as a DRW. Nonetheless, the pin weight can be heavy as its a toyhauler. If you were to plot trailer size, weight, aerodynamic profile, you would not see a straight line, but a progressively steeper curve. You have to use your judgement on what will dictate your line that you cross. You could get a really small trailer but be really heavy. You cross the line as the weight over does it and the size is no longer helping. You go with a big trailer but it is lighter. You hinder yourself now, because you are like a kite in the wind, even though its light. This is for example, as we know the bigger something is going to get, trailer wise, expect it to be heavier. But I was equating this to say, a small bumper pull trailer but your pulling a 10k lb tractor. Its small, the profile is small, but the weight is not proportional to the size, so to speak. Its a juggle... You have to factor in the variables like previously mentioned above and figure out what its worth to you and where to set your line. Fuel mileage is not going to be the only single determining factor.- Truck crane?
It depends on where I get my tank filled. Not only that, but I have other uses too. I don't have much use if any for a cherry picker at the moment. On a side note,I think I may have found the crane I'm willing to compromise for. It has a much lower weight capacity rating, but I'm thinking that if I do some extra work to it I could increase that capacity. At the very least it will handle a 100lb propane bottle. What do you guys think? http://m.ebay.com/itm/321470926062 I was thinking about adding more beef to the joint areas. Then, if needed use a trailer tongue Jack instead of the one they have. One way or another I think it should be doable. The weather is changing quick, and I can't sit on my hands long enough to fab one up in time. Better to just add to one instead I suppose.- Truck crane?
No one around here uses a scale. Its done by activating the OPD on filling and/or the amount pumped until the overflow is squirting liquid. I do have more uses for a crane in mind than just the propane bottles. Like I said, it has to have a multi-faceted use. I think I may have something worthwhile in store. I do have all the necessary things to be able to fab something up, except the raw materials. PM'ed you This is exactly the reason why I won't mount it into the bed. I do not feel like also making more work for myself to make one work. I'm thinking about a small winch, like an ATV winch for lifting. I've been researching on some other crane alternatives and they almost fit the bill. But they did not have a means to raise or lower the load except by a more primitive means. Which is okay, but not for the things I have in mind. I know, I'm picky... This is what I thought I was going to get, until I looked at all the features it did not have: http://www.maxworks.us/product/html/?129.html I've got an idea with something along the lines like this, but with better features. I got to get cracking on it soon, as I need to make it possible so I can use the bottles for winter.- It All Depends On How You Look At It
...IMO, not as tangible as a physical good that has immediate value. Understandably, gold can fit in a pocket whereas food, etc. cannot. But on the other hand, gold won't offer much if your starving, at that moment. That's why I think its more important to stock up on goods before the funny money has no value.- 1 HP log splitter
First impressions, I was thinking, okay, 1hp, big woop! Then I click it and then I realize, 1 HORSE power. That guy was using his dipstick!- I think I'll keep using my ramps to load the skidsteer!
