  1. Hopefully it shows all is well when I test!
  2. Well, I was able to swing the money for an alternator. I had O'reilly's bench test it for me and every test said it passed. But the guy that tested it said it sounded like the bearings were on its way out and something about how it makes a noise initially when it first takes on a load. So who knows, maybe I just did a preventative maintenance thing... I did notice the charging rate is much quicker now, though. The truck shifts fine and don't notice a difference in driving. Heres to hoping that I don't get a hunt! :pray:I'm going to check for AC voltage leak before I go much further as well just to make sure its not "DOA."
  3. ...because its the dealership. I was fortunate enough to go to a diesel products place and they had a smarty sitting on the guys desk. Told him about it and he done it just to prove to himself that it was possible! Just find a place or person with a smarty... even if you paid them $10 to do it, you are still miles ahead of the stealership! BTW, mine is an AUTO! Mike has a manual and his is on as well. It does not matter what tranny it is.
  4. You guys should have the revised design, right? My '99 requires the studs to be pounded out to separate it from the rotor! So, if you need a new stud for any reason in the process... :banghead:
  5. Alright, so 'am I right to assume the field wire you speak of is the wire on the back of the alternator with the stud? I unplugged that one and the other one as well. I took the 140 amp fuse out from the main fuse box on the driver side as well. I did notice a slight difference in shifting. But it did not hunt between 3rd and 4th.Hooked it back up to head back home and had no hunting. It did shift a little differently than when it was not hooked up, though. Thing is, it only happens occasionally. Its not a constant thing. So I'm wondering if it is the alternator or something else?I do not even have enough money at the moment to spend buying a new alt. so I'm gonna have to go on it until then even if it is the culprit. I'm just curious as to what damage it could cause if left alone?
  6. Measuring AC voltage at the alternator. Getting approx. .01 to .02 volts. Sometimes it will spike up to .05 volts AC. Is the alternator diode going out? I'm occasionally getting the hunt at 45-50mph. When the grids cycle, the AC volts are in a pretty good swing, too. But obviously they are not cycling at that speed anyways. Just wondering what your guys' thoughts were to it, as I sure hope its not the TC!
  7. No, no. Not the bleeding screw. The bolt that attaches the brake line to the caliper...
  8. Okay, I tried that.. what about the method of spinning the wheel and feeling for any vibrations in the coil spring?
  9. Alright, I'd like to just confirm with you fella's about what constitutes a bad hub bearing assembly? I would dread have one of them being bad. As I do not like this whole lug stud thing. This design is not conducive for replacement/repairs...
  10. Compare the two wires and see if the gauge size is different. What about fuse size? Same amperage? You would know pretty quick cause it would blow a fuse and/or the wiring would get hot.
  11. My first Airdog blew on me in 9 months. Seals for the pump went out. They replaced it no questions asked. Have the new one in now for over 1 1/2 years now, no problem. I think I've got their revised design.
  12. Hey guys, can't find the torque spec, it should have one right? The bolt for the brake line to the caliper. The one with the two copper washers. I snugged it tight, but just wanna know if there is a torque for it as I do not want to take the chance of it leaking or introducing air...
  13. Did you tell fish and game you were going to claim it from roadkill? We have that RIGHT now in the state of Idaho to claim the meat for ourselves!
  14. You think thats bad? My mother in laws car had a water pump going out. You could hear that thing a block away! One day, she pulls into the driveway and at that moment, the pump finally gave out and she lost the pulley and belt!Took the pump off and that impeller was something else! Had all sorts of gouging and everything.
  15. Sweet! Now, how much do you wanna sell it for?
  16. I'm going to get this caliper switched out first, then see. If I still have a pull, I'm going to see if it is a brake hose. Its only pulling when brake is applied. Drives straight if you are on top of the crown of the road. I'm sure my track bar does need to be redone, but this is not the cause from that. I did get a clunk noise the first time I experienced this pull, so I dunno what that was from...
  17. Hey! I think I'm gonna have to pull my trailer down there and stay with you a while! Got a long rifle? Your gonna wanna put some ammo down quick... Yep, its just gonna be business as usual with them... Same evil machine, different face.
  18. I've got 75hp injectors and an Edge comp. I run it on 5x5 all the time. I turn it off when pulling my 5th wheel. I've got a somewhat built tranny, nothing billet. Holds fine and does not slip. Keep an eye on temps.I do not necessarily drive it like I stole it either, but sometimes I give her a rip and she handles it.If you go any higher with your mods than this, your gonna wanna upgrade to diff. turbo and probably start looking at doing head studs, etc.
  19. Got the new studs PRESSED in! Guy told me it was more challenging than he thought to try and beat it in. So I'm not crazy for trying to pound them in!Got the caliper on and brakes bled. The truck still pulls to the right. :banghead: Broke down and bought the driver side caliper...Hopefully I won't have the same ordeal on the left as I did for the right!
  20. I think the problem is, is all of the corruption that has gone along with it. You have Al Gore for instance, that is more set on making money from you over it than really caring about the problem. You have e-mails from scientists that admit to their data being flawed. Its hard to take the subject matter seriously, because of the ones' who present it.Although, I can agree to being a good steward to the earth. I do not personally believe in "global warming, or climate change". But, I do believe in being cleaner with emissions for the short term. I believe the earth has safeguards for such a thing, but the immediate effect of taking on a lung full of pollutant is a different story.
  21. Boy, do I always feel like a bearer of bad news! I do not wish to keep drilling this into peoples' heads, but for the love of others, I do it! I do have a very sobering thing to bring up. Consider where you are presently, take a deep breath and consider the consequences! Now, I'm still a young buck, I try to think when it does not hurt and sometimes I'm even able to say something half-wise! Consider my next few appeals to you of the mopar forum community! RIGHT NOW, this could end up being nothing and something else that has put us on the seat of our pants. But, truly, only the LORD knows. But, only if we pray earnestly, will we be given the grace needed to know what actions to make next. I definitely feel, right now, "WE THE PEOPLE" have been taken hostage, but recently that grip around our necks have tightened even more. If we do not take the proper precautions here immediately, we may be caught with out pants down, so to speak. We currently have the 2 party joke playing charades in front of us and the act this time is, "Chicken." This resolve has hit me like a TON of bricks! :banghead: I will on my part be doing what I can to prepare. What we have going on currently in our nation is very dangerous. It could spell to be nothing, if something gets passed and agreed upon. It the debt limit is not increased, it could be volatile! I personally may get a whippin' for my next statement. I IMHO do feel that this spending bill should NOT be passed. Yes, it could be VERY painful! But it is a necessary thing IMO. As we have not resolved a single thing yet and we still continue to accumulate debt. We need to get this trainwreck in order! But things ALWAYS get worse BEFORE it gets BETTER. In the meantime, I feel as though, I once again have the urge to share my thoughts with everyone who will read; You need to make sure there are short-term preparations! If this spending bill does not go through and we do indeed default, there WILL be panic! DO NOT get yourself caught in this! Prepare NOW before it happens! What 'am I talking about? 1. WATER Are your local municipalities going to be operating their water treatment plant if this goes into default? Do not even THINK about going to a store! 2. Electricity What about electrical companies? Will the power still be on? If not, do you have a generator? You are not gonna be able to run a well-pump if you do not have juice! 3. Food Panic sets in and store shelves are empty! 4. Fuel You gotta run the necessary equipment and/or vehicle for transportation, is your tank full right now? 5. Security Panic sets in, rational people start acting irrational. Are you prepared to defend the things you own from others? Get what you CAN for a short-term run, as something is better than NOTHING! This is definitely going to warrant a, "shelter-in-place" scenario. IF this turns out to be more charades from the bozo's, then there would be no harm from doing this! What would if be for you to have a little extra of the necessary items? Make sure to have the necessary funds to pay bills obviously, because it won't be the end of the world... I must also remind you, that if this DOES go through, you WILL not get your MONEY from the bank! ATM's will be EMPTY and the banks will be CLOSED! Your money at this moment in time will be NOTHING! Get the money out NOW! Use it for the physical needs to weather it out. Keep the extra aside to pay bills. I will be preparing for the short-term and taking precautionary measures to be able to shelter in place and bugging in. If you are not prepared for a long term collapse, its too late to try, even if you have thousands. Keep your ammo dry and your NECKS above water!
  22. All good points that I would have brought up. Last night, before I noticed my hub/rotor being loose because of the studs, I torqued to 150, then took my breaker bar with a cheater and tightened it up more to get the hole to line up. By doing this though, I noticed it did seem a little more difficult than before to spin the rotor. So I thought there was more to it than met the eye.
