ATV issue...
I'm not particularly familiar with ATV's or small motorsport crafts. Although, seems like the basics apply. Internal combustion engine, fuel injected, or carbed, etc. What I do not know, is the more special things related to them. So this is why I figured I should post something here as I know some of you guys are more seasoned at them.I've got a Yamaha Big bear and I think its a late 90's. Apparently had a tune up and the likes at a local dealer. My father in law begs to differ as he is having a hard time figuring out what he paid for.So I drove it a couple days ago to go looking for a deer I thought I may have killed. Took a road and got going fast. Thumb-throttle pegged all the way and in highest gear.Once it gets to speed, its like it will suddenly lose power for a moment and you can hear it. It feels like someone is hitting the brakes for a moment. It will go back and forth like this until I let off the throttle.I called the dealer and asked them, they think its the carb needing cleaned or rebuilt. I hope not as I need this for next week.I thought maybe it needs an inline fuel filter or something...Anyone have any thoughts on this?

The land of bounty!
Took an evening trip up into the forest, hoping to see an elk, bear or deer to poke or shoot. Alot of out of staters coming in the area.. :think:I want our grounds back!No sign of animal, elk were all shut up, did not wanna bugle. Ran into some other hunters, said there has been wolf in the area. :banghead:Yellow jackets have been a NIGHTMARE. Sounds like the forest is ALIIIIVE!So instead of going home empty handed, we looked for another form of food. Drove down a very frequented road only to find GOBS of it! Amazing how many people go up and down it and never even give it a thought!Shaggy meins! I filled a 5 gallon bucket with these! You gotta be quick though, as they will ink out on you in nothing flat. Managed to give some away and lost the majority of them. Had a great dinner with them this evening though. Steak, mushrooms, onion, potatos! :drool:As it would have it, little do many people know about another food. The elderberry! Right along alot of the forest roads, you will see them. We ended up picking 20 3/4lbs. of elderberry after de-stemming them! Were gonna take half of it and make wine, then the other half will be syrup, and jelly. As luck would have it, we also once again ran into another bountiful food! It was the last spot we hit that was just a jackpot for elderberries. Mixed in, wild rose bushes! It was starting to get dark on us, so we only got a limited amount. We could have easily filled a gallon jug of rose hips in short time! We're gonna take those and make teas, more than likely as its packed with vitamin C! If we get another chance, I might consider making a wine out them as well...I shoulda taken some pictures, but I was a little pre-occupied about processing all of it.We also ended up running over a snowshoe when we got back onto pavement... :duh:I guess its something.. I would have rather preferred a good grouse, but they were not on the roads...Rabbit was too small to eat and no good after hitting him with a 3/4 ton. Although, I did a pretty good job as I was able to preserve the hide so I can tan it here pretty soon. So, all in all a pretty good trip! Hopefully I can get something next week when I go camping and fill the FREEZAH!

Whats going on here?
Alright, so ran up into the forest yesterday for an evening trip. Out and about traversing the mountain roads, no problem. Got dark so headed down. Got to the highway and the truck did something funny..I got to about 45-50 and it sounded like it was making a quick and short rev. As if I was the one doing it with the pedal. I slowed down, turned the comp off, checked the trans. temp gauge. All was well. Sped back up, got to the speed again and did it again. This time I fueled it more and it went faster and shifted after that.Stopped by the sister in laws, which was about 10 min. away. Visited for about an hour or so and then headed home. Shifted fine and turned the comp back on. Still shifts fine. Fluke? Or 'am I going to be one of those lucky guys soon to have to replace my alt. or APPS?

Dummy ol' me. Thats right! Thats why it came with a draw straw mod for the fuel basket... Don't mind the dunce over here!- Salvaged Title Vehicles
Check these guys out: http://www.nwmsrocks.com/ ^They probably won't have a high performance truck that your looking for, but they will have the gem of a truck you would want. You will pay for it, though. But atleast if you get your hands on one, you can build it how you like it.- Truck is "dead in the water"! HELP!!
If you don't plan on doing big HP numbers a 150 can do just fine for you. I have not read everything on this thread but have kind of been looking at it here and there. IIRC, if its still offered and you do not have it, the 165 system like mine, came with the parts necessary to do the draw straw mod to the fuel basket. It was a really great way to go. I know too, that if for some crazy reason I need the flow it will be there too...- Help AmeriKa start WWIII!

Oh yea, almost forgot... This coal roll was brought to you in part by: 98whitelightnin! Without that comp, the coal would not have been able to roll! Thanks buddy! On a side note, I do feel like an 'arse if I happen to smoke someone out if they don't "deserve" it... There have been a few times now where I was saying, "I sure wish I was in front of them right now"! This just so happen to all, "Fall into place..."- HPCR Injectors Under the Scope
I'm a VP guy. But this is exciting for me to see these injectors come out for the CR trucks. It may some day actually help convince me to get one. Now that there is an injector out there that is worth while, I'm gonna bet the catastrophic engine damage from bad engines will be a thing of the past!- I was a little naughty...
I'm all for bike riding. But around here, they think they own the road! :banghead:I swear they are taking the town over with bicycle lanes more than allowing vehicular traffic. Stay outta Sandpoint! It brings me nothing but grief... Its better to live out of town instead...- I was a little naughty...
I just could not help myself... :spank:So I took the wife off to a local place for some ice cream. Needed to get outta the house and spend some time together. On the way there, crusin along down the road, a person on a bike decided that they were above the rules of the road and was going to dart across two lanes of traffic right in front of me. I was ready to slam on the brakes to prevent from hitting him, but at the last moment just hugged the sidewalk instead. I passed by and he darted over into my lane. I kept on going and he was RIGHT ON MY REAR. So... The got the best of me and I noticed I had the comp on 5x5. ROMP! LET 'ER RIP! :lmao:The personal satisfaction of seeing him choke out on my carbon footprint, was priceless! ...TAKE THAT! ..you liberal bunny-huggin' californian!...sorry, feel free to let the commence!I just felt the urge to make it my first time in justifying myself...- EGT gauge, again!
Looks like the only one I should be worried about is the fuel pressure. The others are "mechanical" for the most part.- Yet Another 20+ MPG Tank
