5.9 trans problem
Yes, sir. When I bought my truck, I had worse problems than you. The TC would cause the truck to shudder occassionally and it would slip when locking/unlocking. Hence the shudder. The slight blipping in your RPM would tell me IMHO, that your TC is beginning to slip. If its stock and the truck is new to you or you've been running it hard racing it around its possible to have done some damage. It can't be OD, because OD does not kick in until after 55mph IIRC. It does not shift in and out at different speeds like you explain. Only the TC does that.Do you know when the last time your transmission was serviced? You may be able to improve the problem more and gain some more life out of the TC if you service it. I would start by doing a full fluid flush, filter and bands. If you can, get Amsoil for the trans fluid.

5.9 trans problem
Maybe its not slipping as bad yet, then. Reason why I say that is because I do not think its your OD. I think its your TC because you say it happens at 2 diff speed sets. Which is actually where the TC locks/unlocks between shifting gears.

Sounds like a slipping torque convertor. Does the truck have a shuddering type of feeling?

Hooked to a sled this morning
Ah! Cause I've seen a vid of a guy lose the sled before. Maybe its not a standardized thing... You guys are really tempting me to try this whole sled pull thing! I'd probably get into trouble, though!

Data phone?
Alright, so ever since these gadgets hit the market and have been causing a ruckus, I've always been against them. Especially since I have read articles on them about certain things that the cell phone carriers and companies can do with them without you ever knowing. I've been pretty anti-progressive with this technology. Seems as though people are becoming more and more dependant on technology. Its getting out of hand with how freaking attached people are becoming with their phones. I constantly see people and not just young people texting on their phones oblivious to the world around them. Then, you also have the obscene charges to operate them. Darn near $100 a month to use them! Thats ridiculous! As you can tell by now, the whole idea has been a huge turn-off to cross over to the dark side. I've always been for the most part a simpleton with this and have found that a feature phone is about all I need. Until now? Despite all the downfalls, I really 'am liking the idea of being able to look something up with it. Phone books have not been so commonplace now and most of the time I have to resort to using the net to look up a number or get directions, etc. But what if I'm not near the computer? Thats where I see a data phone coming into play. I could look up a number, location, etc. anywhere I have cell phone service. Not to mention, if I got stranded on the road, I could even possibly troubleshoot something as I could get on the web. But really, despite the pros and cons, is it really worth the extra needed to own/operate one? I continually ask myself everyday I come to such a crossroad and have a slight hint that I could be compromising my freedom for security: They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. -Benjamin Franklin I guess it all really boils down to how much of my privacy I'm knowingly exposing... So can anyone convince me they really are worth having?

EGT gauge, again!
Alright, so I'm at a loss here. Well, maybe not entirely. I have a theory! :smart:So, the other day I was coming home from work and noticed the EGT gauge was reading abnormally low. Like less than 200 while driving. I knew something was funky. But, I also shrugged it off after as I figured maybe it was from decelerating.Well, last night I was driving again and I could not get the temp to read higher than 250. WTF! :banghead:I replaced the thermocouple 2 summers ago! Even made a thread about it! Have not touched it since than and cannot even begin to think what could be doing it. The gauge, maybe? Then I tested my theory. I got on the freeway to go to my destination, goosed it! Did not have to go very far though... Got nothing! Hmm...Okay, so after, I head back home. Then it starts working fine again and reading what I would believe to be the right temps. :mad:What the heck? What gives? It worries me a little as I wonder if I'am even showing the right temps, now? My theory was that since I have been doing alot of short driving to and from work that it has a buildup of soot. So I thought that if I goosed it on the freeway, I could burn it off and the probe could read accurately again. This is assuming soot is a type of insulator?Other then that, I've got nothing. I have no idea why its doing what its doing. Is it time for a new gauge? Its a dipricol...

Reaching out
I'm hoping the heart doctor will say its something else other than his heart. Something like what you were saying Russ. That would probably be alot better than something with his heart. He has a doctor that he has been seeing ever since my wife was a little fart. Thats the doctor he saw a few days after this happened as the doc was on a vacation or something..That doctor has seen my FIL go through alot and knows practically everything that has happened to him. For him to be worried about him, says alot! He pretty much bases the rest of his patients off of him! Thanks for the kind words D4L! Us young bucks can definitely learn a thing or two from those older boys! I know one thing is for sure, my FIL has a pride issue. He has always been the man that had to be the one pull the weight. For him to have to admit that he needs help or can't do it, says alot. The doctors, years ago, gave him the option to snip his sciatic nerve to end the pain he was in from it. But he would be wheel chair bound for the rest of his life. He says heck no! He goes on grunting through life instead so he can still walk.I gotta tell ya, IMHO, when the Obamacare sets in and does its damage, were all gonna have to learn to be tough. Cause we aren't gonna get a doctor!Anyhoo, I'll give you guys an update whenever he gets his results from the heart doctor. SO maybe then you guys can all take your turn on me at the whipping post for crying wolf!

High mileage maintenance?
There is a difference between preventative maintenance and repairs. Some of these parts you list are on the repair side of the world. So far, most of which is on these trucks are the same on their maintenance scheduling and does not change through the life.A tps, vp44, injector, etc. are nothing that can really be "maintained". Injectors, maybe.. a periodic cleaning and testing, sure. But most of which are things that just have to be replaced when the time comes. As a service life is unpredictable given their are so many variables.

Reaching out
Well guys, I just felt the need to reach to y'all. I know some members are on here that are beyond my years and may even know a thing or two about this. Most importantly, maybe just read it and take it for whats its worth. My father in law, on Tuesday suffered what I classify as a heart attack. I was not there personally to see this. I did not even learn about until later that day after I got home from work. From what I understand that transpired, he and my mother in law and their son went out to the woods to go shooting. Getting the rifles set or made sure they were set for this years hunting season. They had finished their shooting and I guess out of no where he fell to the ground and blacked out. Once he recovered from it, he said he had no recollection of the event.Luckily, his most recent surgery involved his neck getting some pins put in. The doctor found out that the nitro he had was expired. So he got a new prescription for it. He took one nitro after this occured. He has suffered from a heart attack before and has one stint as well. This took place back in the early 2000's.Now, he is one stubborn man. His wife is too passive when it comes to his wishes. He REFUSED to go to the hospital! Trust me, I laid into him in a son in law type of way about not going to the doctor after this happened.I have not been able to see him since this happened, but I guess he has not been the same since then. He did go to the doctors the other day after a few of us scolded him for not doing so. His doctor told him that he was very worried about it and has got an appt. scheduld to see a heart doctor this Wednesday. He is only to do light things until then and cannot lift a SINGLE thing.I told him on the phone he needed to get an idea of what his vitals were like. That isntance and the docs, his vitals were fine. His cholesterol is even fine as well. The kicker to all this:He has an ear infection on his mastoid bone in his ear. It was scheduled to be done later this month. But because he had this, it has been cancelled until he gets this under control. Problem is, the docs are worried the infection could go to his brain and kill him!He is in a corner, IMO. NOT good. Dangit, he is suposed to live to see his grandkids! Its hard telling if this is finally gonna do him in or not. He has had a HARD life and it certainly would be a shame to see this chap go!I have a theory to this. Everything sure as heck may check out and show that it can certainly be confusing as to why he suffered from this event. But there is one thing that can be overlooked by most. Your heart is a muscle, it needs to be used and worked! He is disabled and has been since he was 28. Granted, it has only been sine I pretty much met my wife that it has gone downhill for him. The past couple years he has been very limited in his activities and has spent most of his time sitting in a chair. His gut will tell you the same, too.I also did a little reading on heart attacks, and what I can also make from it, if he has a serious infection from his ear, his white blood cell count should be up. If there is too much, it can cause a clump of them and caue a heart attack. Whatever the case may be, I need you guys to do some praying for me!If I can convince one of you guys on here that your life and health is important, it would make this time typing on here so very worth it! Take care of yourselves! Because your health matters to more than just you!Not too long after I joined this forum, his siser which is my wifes aunt, died from COPD. She got it from cigarettes. I watched her die among family, I do not want to tell you guys how I watched my father in law die from a heart attack or infection to the brain.

Pics of me towing things
The drive way is sloped a little bit. But yes, compared to the front it does squat. I'll get about 3" of change in the rear when I hitch up and less than 1/4" change in the front. I do have a slider for it. I use the Superglide 18k. Its not the industry standard one, but the older one they used to market as an 18k. Turns out they retested it and the 18k was reclassified as a 20k. So they used the industry standard version to fill the 18k hole.

2 of the 4 holes are for the long bolts that go through the starter to bolt it togther. The other 2 holes are for a phillipsscrew that hold the brush plate in place. So maybe this is what you are talking about?

The New World Trade Center
I looked at the pics again. I see what you mean now. I guess when I was looking at it I really only noticed the ironwork portion of it that anythnig else. Boyo' I must be blind! They are installing a unitized curtainwall. Stuff goes in so stupid quick! Thats also a high-rise! I have yet to do anything like that! Most of my work has never been more than 5 stories. I did at one time rip out old plexiglass handrailing for glass around the exterior of the building. That was 9 stories.. but then again, I was not hanging off the side of the building. Now, it may not be American made, but it is also an engineering feat! http://abduzeedo.com/burj-dubai-today-tallest-building-world Now thats alot of glass! AND TALL!
