More on turbo whistle
I hate to sound this way, but I think the titli should be shortened. Remove the "E" from more & the space between it & on... Ed

Injectors = Higher MPG?
If you read the book, either odd or even has or doesn't have timing added. I THINK you are safe with even numbers. CHECK FIRST !!! Ed

Cutting in a fuel filter
With the cheap metal inline filter, you will most likeiy have to purge air, but alot less & less spillage with the ball valves. Also, many spin on filters are rated to be on the vacuul side. Personally, if you are going to go through all of this, get a remote head & a spin on with a water drain. It'll last about 20,000-30,000 miles & filter more accurately. Ed

Injectors = Higher MPG?
DAP uses Bosch bodies, rebuilds them, does a bit of extrude honing (I THINK) & them flow matches them with high pressure fluid, rather than low pressure air. It's a fine process, as Jacob described all that goes into it. They also have "Aftermarket" injectors with no core charge, but I doubt they go through the same process. One thing to remember, with your HO pump, you will have a bit more timing advance, so use lower timing levels on the Smarty. 50-75 HP injectors seem just what you need. If you EVER plan on upgrading the turbo, just go for 75-100 HP now to save the future investment. Ed

Truck will not start.
Download the service manual. It has all harness connections & maybe will help you locate the issue. Ed

Head Gasket Replacement
Never heard of the Cascade trick. We used to do a lot of marine engines with dilute purple power. I just know it's corrosive to Aluminum. Ed

1/2 hour. It's soft metal. Ed

Head Gasket Replacement
When assembled, you will need to flush out all contaminants from the cooling system. Do the radiator now. For that, I would suggest numerous runs of Simple Green (Less corrosioin possibility than Purple Power on aluminum). Use it at a SLIGHTLY higher concentration than suggested, as it NEEDS the water to help the sufficant dilutte/break up the oil. As stated before, have the cooler checked. Good time to do side cover gasket & possibly change to 12 valve cover. Good time to gasket match the head on the exhaust side for small gains in flow & efficiency (Hotly debatable sometimes). You also will need to flush out the block of contaminants, as the oils will hinder heat transfer. For the block I would now suggest Purple Power at a slightly LOWER concentration, as it is pretty corrosive. Depending on condition, replace all coolant hoses. As for gasket, most suggest stock Cummins & shy from Cometic. (Again, sometimes, hotly debated) Ed

Injectors = Higher MPG?
I think I'd have to agree with the above statement. 75 HP should net you the better tradeoff between MPGs & HP with a stock system. Add a wiretap box & definitely get an EGT gauge (Well, it should come stock, anyways). Ed

More on turbo whistle
My exhaust is Super modded... I used a Sawzall to cut it off behind the resonator & added a turndown... When I do a new turbo, it will be 4" all the way (HX40 flange) & have a muffler. May be stacks & a flatbed... I personally think a free flow muffler will rob little power & quiet it down a touch. Of course, my hearing is not near as goos as when younger... Ed

More on turbo whistle
In all honesty, when I put on the BHAF, I loved the whistle, as it was new & sounded cool. Now, I kinda use the annoying whistle as an MPG control system. THe less whistle, the better the MPGs. Sorta crude, but works for me. Ed

THAT is what the "Custom mount" is all about. I'm glad you are happy with it. Ed

Weird Engine Grunt Maybe Timing?
I'm doing the HE351VE. DAP has most stuff you will need for a 351 conversion in stock. Just not listed as a kit. Ed

Snap the gas
I have heard tell of the Kommiefornia trucks having them. I personally think it was just the resonator. Ed

Fuel filtering
I worked on boats for quite some time. The install of a ball valve could mean lives. It's a simple precaution that could save issues on install. I am anal about things like that, due to being pulled out of the ocean by Coast Guard helicopters. Ed

Fuel filtering
NAPA stocks one for 80's RVs in 1/2". Also, when mounting ball valves, be sure to mount them so that the levers cannot vibrate down into the OFF position. Ed

About that high idle kit
Hmmmm..... Maybe we should work on that, Michael... Ed

High Idle Kit Is Here
Me & ME had beer last night.... Nice having NON utah beer. Don't bother with beer, have your friends buy switches, too.... That way, I can buy my own beer... LOL Thank you all for the kind words. I just feel that I should treat my customers like I want to be treated. Ed

High Idle Kit Is Here
If you did your first start on 3 Cyl, you MUST shut down the truck for 60 seconds or so to reset the RAM in the ECU. Then, try the 6 CYL mode. The initial reading is stored in the RAM, so if you start in 3 CYL, drive somewhere & put it in 6 CYL, it will still revert to 3 CYL. If it's another issue, please PM me with your phone number & I'll call you tonight. I have Canukdian calling on my phone. I have a long drive today & won't be able to check the forum till about 5=6PM MST. Than you, Ed

High Idle Kit Is Here
You got the cubby unit? It usually ends up 1/2" of 3/8 heavy wall tubing & 3 1" Lathe screws #8. PM me your address & I can send them if you like, or DAP will. Ed

Anybody Rebuild Their Own Engines?
Clean all of your intercooler piping & intercooler with Simple Green, as it will remove the oil & be lesss corrosive than purple power (Or equivelant) to the aluminum. Ed

PM sent to Chase. Snowshovler, are you in Canada? If so, Customs would be the reason for the 2 weeks. Otherwise, it should get anywhere in the US within 3-4 businiesss days. Ed
