best towing turbo for 100 ddp injectors

YA HX35 is a pretty sweet turbo, I started to To go with HX35 but even the reman turbo shop wanted a heavy core charge cause i wasn't exchanging like for like,,,cause i had HY35.,,i would have been out more money than what i was for new

Annescott. If you have a quazilla, it wouldn't hurt to try it on a low setting to try to get some timing. I thought there were some tunes around somewhere for it. I thought somebody on here was collecting them.

I run the ZXT + with an updated 2010 tune with RV 275's and a HX35/40 hybrid on my gen 2 truck and I don't make any smoke on hi or low tune.  My turbo housing is the stock drop in unit so a pacbrake could be installed without any system modification.  The turbo housing is the 14cm2 instead of the 12cm2 HX35 original.

 

No spool lag with this setup at all.  I have a posi rear end and can spin the rear wheels on pavement from a dead stop and non-boosted launch.

  so your saying that you can mount a exhaust brake to your HX 40 14" Housing???

just looked to up,,its a Larger Compressor wheel with the stock compressor housing machined to accommodate the bigger wheel, SAME STOCk HX35 exhaust housing and turbine wheel

There is a 14cm2 housing that has the stock outside dimensions of the HX35 12 cm2 exhaust housing.  Complete direct bolt up. No exhaust mods.

 

I chose this  housing to reduce back pressure.  The turbo change was the first thing I did after putting the ZXT+ on and there was some lag off the line compared to the stock 12cm2 housing but passing and top end was a good improvement over the stock HX35.

 

When I then installed the RV275's the lag completely disappeared.  As I mentioned with the stock HX35 with posi rear end I could not spin the wheels on dry pavement from a non-boosted launch.

 

With this setup I can leave a nice pair of black marks on dry pavement from a non-boosted launch.  Surprised me and I don't do it often but I was never able to do that before.

 

People who have borrowed this truck and driven it comment on it being a real jackrabbit starter.

$1000 dollars is a lot of cash to toss down a turbo that may break your tune. So very common for people to upgrade turbos and not have the right combo of fuel. Then turns the truck into a smokey bomb that is nearly impossible to drive the city. I'd love to upgrade again my limits are because of the exhaust brake mounts to the back of the turbo.

Larger shafts are used on this guys rebuilds, 360 thrust bearing, new wheels obviously. I haven't heard of anyone snapping the shaft, even on pulling trucks. They're a hot item in Ohio/Indiana. The only thing stock on these machined chargers are the housings. The snail isn't as big as a borg warner 62 so I would imagine flow isn't as good as a phatshaft . Same thing as the fleece holset cheetah, depending on the compressor wheels. I'm still going to get an s300g (57/65/12), but I don't have an exhaust brake. Those BW extended tip compressor wheels are far superior than any holset wheel.

Finally got to hook up my 20' gooseneck trailer last night. It was pouring rain and I had a 2&1/2 hour trip ahead of me so I ended up turning around and coming back home but this 62 shined. I don't know if it was the mid 70's degree and rain but this truck ran great! I am going to pick up another truck this weekend for its frame and 3.54 axles so I will see how it pulls with some weight behind it.
