I don't want to say the R word...

Rust! Yeah, this winter I've not been able to keep up on washing the truck as much as I wanted to. I knew I had a few paint chips in the tailgate from the old canopy. So I'm doing some fix-up work to keep the R word under control. Need to pick up a can of gloss black paint tomorrow when the hardware store is open. The black of the tailgate liner plastic will blend right in with the extended black paint line. You can see I had it paint once with flat black but that is porous.

I gave up on trying to stop the r, no matter how hard I tried it's eating inside out. So past few years I've been spraing a mist of motor oil in rockers, doors and any cavities under, even inside fenders. I use one of them air deals that you plug air hose to and it has a small vinyl tube where it sucks from.

Stuff they spray around here is brine, and all it is is a solution of water and heavy mix of salt. Some cities around here started to add beet juice so it sticks better to roads,  whatever works I guess.

I have one rust spot under my bed I need to take care off.  What really scares me though is what ever they put on the roads this winter is dripping off my truck and eating my driveway.  The top layer along both sides of where my truck sits is starting to flake off.  :ahhh:

The 'brine' that's sprayed on the roads here is 23% salt.  It dissolves the spray equipment and the spray truck's removable sub-frame.  Replaced every second year.  I wash the underside of my truck and Jeep 2-3 times per week.  Don't know if this makes any difference or not .... spray the 'wax' on the underside after the wash and rinse.  This is at a local car wash.  That 'brine' is bad stuff !
