HELP With 1/2" fuel line barb fittings

Recommended Posts

I'm putting in an Airdog FRRP-100 and having a helluva time getting the 1/2 line to go onto the barb fittings.

I oiled them per the instructions with some fresh engine oil and can only get them on so far.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The brass fitting. That one is easy. Just put the fitting on a solid floor like concrete or wood floor. Using your body weight push straight down on the fitting till you get the hose on as far as needed. As for the 90* fitting and plastic fitting you have to do the boil water trick it will soften up the rubber hose and make the fitting easier to install.

We all know how good success feels even on the smallest thing. If it was not for these yay hoos here the last 150k on my truck might not have happened. Great place with great people with the very similar goals. We also enjoy sharing what got us to where we are so others can do the same.

We very much enjoy having fun while we do it.:thumbup2:

Great bunch of yay hoos!!!

I'm totally "stoked" (yes I was born in So Cal) I found ya'll.  I have a genetic mutation when it comes to cars and machines.  Most think me odd but when I find people with the same mutation I feel right at home.  You guys get it...

Seriously this group is making my new old truck exponentially more fun to work on and have.

Much appreciated.

That's what it's all about here. A great bunch of people helping each other keep these great beasts running.

Mission accomplished.  The Dragon roars again.   Thanks all for the help and the laughs.

Air Dog Raptor FRRP-100 in with fuel pressure @20PSI+/-

The old Carter was giving me between 12-4 PSI :-(

Hopefully the VP-44 doesn't Keel over soon, but if it does it won't be a big surprise at just under 100K miles.  And if it has to be replaced soon at least  the fuel pressure can sustain the life of a new one for awhile.

2 wins in one weekend. :thumbup2: I need a week end like this.

Actually 3 got the low fuel pressure indicator light in.

But these projects didn't start today only finished, well almost.

I need to replace the line between the filter and the VP44 so get t tee's in for my fuel pressure gauge and warning light.  I only have the guage connected at the moment, the light is ready to hook up but needs the T on the line for that. That run is a bit kludge right now just to get the fuel pressure tested and correted.

I'll get with Eric # Vulcan on Monday to get those bits and then I'll drive it a bit and see how things are working before the next fun project.

Last weekend was a valve adjustment.

One of the reasons why I like this site.  Posters post back  (more often) with results.  Easy to review what worked for what problem.

That light above gauge...low pressure?

Yes if the pressure drops below 5 PSI that light goes on.  Just in case I'm listening to some reggae music and spacing out not paying attention to the fuel pressure gauge as I should LOL.  It's the So Cal in me  :-)

@leety I've got to ask does that Raptor pump plug directly into the ECM or did it come with a power relay?

Plugs in directly to the ECM with the stock plug, easy peasy.  I'm thinking I'll eventually put a mechanical pump in, either running off the cam or the belt type pump that runs off the crank pulley.  If I do that I may just have this run off a toggle from inside for priming and as a back up in case the belt breaks.  This appears a solid solution with minimal intervention and cost for now.  Better than the Carter pump anyways.  1/2" lines come next.

Ask Eric for a relay power supplied lead. If the pump motor for some reason short out or get high load amperage it will wipe out the ECM. Highly suggest you change that over to protect your ECM from damage.
