6.7 water pump in 2nd gen 5.9

The increase in flow on the 6.7 pump is because of the cooled EGR. The 6.7 pump runs too much pressure on deleted trucks and it's not uncommon to see deleted 6.7's running 5.9 pumps, especially if they like higher rpms. 

 

Long story short.... keep the 5.9 pump.

For the most part we don’t have cooling issues with 5.9’s. 

Thanks.  I was thinking more coolant flow the better.  My thinking was incorrect.  Thanks for straightening me out.

I have 280k on my 02 it's running factory water pump. Truck runs at 190 in summer even with the clutch fan never kicking on.

 

I'll put a 5.9 impellerd pump on if it ever needs replaced

 

Coolant flowing faster can actually lead to running hotter due to having less time to dissipate heat out of the radiator
