Used is not always junk, it has been 4 years now. I buy a lot of used parts, don't you?

Not Salvaged no. Too risky.

I live way out in the middle of nowhere. Give you an idea it's 125 miles to a WalMart for me. 35 miles to just a NAPA parts store. Post Office is 20 miles. Then getting to a Bank can be 125 mile trip too. Everything I do is about 100-mile drive.

So when I research rebuilder like Module Master with a five-year warranty for a mere $130 dollars you'd be foolish to buy a salvage one. When I was at that point the closest ABS module was in Colorado and was priced at $500 and unknown if it would work. No returns on electronic devices on salvage. So would you buy a salvage $500 ABS computer or get you rebuilt with a 5-year warranty for $130??? I think its a no brainer.

PS: I almost forgot... There is a CCD Network difference over the years. So you have to have the right year module to work correctly.

Basically Mopar1973Man went on vacation one day and before they went back home he said, ''lets live here''. :thumb1:. Before he tried that in Yosemite Valley but got kicked out.

I didn't pay $500 for a used ABS Module, nor do I have to explain my foolish behavior about my used junk parts.....

Naw that's what I was quoted for the used one I could find. That why I researched rebuilding. Out here Dodge Cummins truck are sold before they even hit the dirt of a salvage yard. Very difficult to get salvage anything Cummins. Dodge gasser are not better but still tough. I seen a great bench seat 2nd Gen. Shocked at the 450 price and it was sold. Dang...

Shoot... I've been looking for doors for the 01 since the cancer is getting bad at the bottom of the doors. I haven't been able to find 98-01 Ram 1500 in the salvage yard with good straight doors or really anything I would consider usable. I have only seen a handful of 98-02 gasser Ram 2500's & 3500's but never a Cummins. This has been my experience with dozens of salvage yards from Wyoming through Colorado and New Mexico. Still haven't found a set of usable doors yet but I'll keep searching and hopefully find a Ram that didn't hit everything that was ever around it.

Sometimes I wish I had a Powerjoke or a Duratrash because I've found tons of those in the salvage yards and then I remember Cummins aren't throw away engines.

ABS computer issues most likely? CCD network delivers the speed signal directly to the cluster. PCM is not the handler for speed signal.

@Mopar1973Man this is actually incorrect the PCM is sending the speed signal on CCD bus and it gets it from Pin 12 on ABS connector.

Dodge 1999  RAM Cummins 5.9L NV4500 5spd.
ABS sensor signal from the rear differential  @ 6 Mph.
(YELLOW) pin1+ and pin8- @ abs connector.
Out to PCM (BLUE) pin 12 @ abs connector.

You have to keep in mind that Mike lives on the Dark Side of the Moon. And a lot of his advice comes from where he leaves and what he does with his truck ( which in a nutshell it's all great advice). Most of us that leave in cities or nearby and have a lot more availability of random junk, have more options. And what works for someone doesn't always apply to someone else. Like I got a used ECM from a guy that was parting out a truck, for $400 and while in his shop, I seen pcm, abs module with abs unit all still attached, he just cut brake lines off, and just random stuff laying around. I gave him 500 and took it all, wish I would of taking more but didn't want all that junk in my garage, and slim chances of me using it all. But basically I got abs module for free. So yeah it just depends on situation I guess.

This is slightly off topic but goes with how we use our trucks, to each their own.

I live in Quad Cities Now by Mississippi, and I swear 80% of drivers here are retarded, hardly anyone uses signal lights, people cut you off randomly, if you got a 6-speed like me sometimes people even hunk to get me out of the way because I'm just too slow for them and I'm already abusing my truck just to get going. Everyone in such a hurry to get to McDonald's or whatever they're going to, just so they can get there and then go sit and do nothing and stare at their phone like zombies. It's funny sitting at stop lights especially when I drive my car so I can hear what's going on around me, most of cars (new, very few older ones)shut off at stop lights, and when it turns green it's all you hear is vehicles starting back up and the race is on to the next stop light, it's rather sad really. They all got a new vehicle, fancy clothing etc, but no respect for one another, almost ready to kill each other with their eyes lol. I guess where I'm going with this is for me leaving in city driving truck around, I'll never see that kind of mileage out of my parts like @Mopar1973Man will, even if I completely copied his set up. Or if I tried, I'd be labeled a retard for not driving like all the retards here. You just can't win in this new mind set people have. :ahhh:

I hope it's not like this everywhere, in fact I know it's not, smaller city's usually have nicer people, it's the bigger ones that suck, everyone is too important for everyone else. Of course there are good people here too, just the number is getting smaller. Sorry for my ramble, I haven't finished my coffee yet.

Thats exactly what I see happening up around my way too DieselFuture. People rather kill you than let you in. Weird too when you call a business and the mellenial type person anwsering the phone acts like it's too hard to speak properly or even lift a finger on the computer board to help you. Things is getting weird, I've started building a new home and you would not believe peoples BS to try making more than going rates. The BS I'm getting is like they'd rather rake you over than provide a decent service. When they find out I know my stuff (years in the building Biz) they say I don't have time and take off. Even the neighbors across the street tried stopping me by getting a county inspector out there. They were standing out there hoping I'd start screaming yelling or at least start some kind of drama. They don't know how much I know about the county and was able to keep going by, in a sense, correcting this young driveway inspector. Being that I'm a nice guy helps tremendously. Being polite, honorable and a country boy is better than money grubbing selfish greed attitude.

Yeap, wife wanted to finish basement and I don't have time, so she had random people show up for estimate. I ended up being home for most of them and when they see my construction tools around the corner after they feed me some Bs, they give me this surprised look like oh shi. now he knows we were bullsh.ting him. One of them on the way out said well you know it's getting thought out there to find good quality and if I'm higher in a bid then someone else, let me know maybe we can work something out.

Yeah they were all in high 30,40, and even low 50k range for about 20-25k basement that in material may be 8-10k with everything included. But they know that most don't know and do what they do best.

It's like a disease, everyone trying to screw the other guy and hence the outcome.

So far I spent about 700 and framing is almost done, along with few other things. And it's straight too, so hanging rock should be a breeze. Now just need to fit the tub in before I frame it all in.

There's nothing like a nice job without all the loose ends hanging everything up. I've seen jobs when they call for a finish carpenter, they heard I was good, so I get there and there is framing lumber they overestimated laying everywhere. Literally hardly any room to spread out. Mind you, It is sheetrocked and painted so they wanted me to start that day. Then notice other contractors there tripping over each other like the work is going a million miles an hour. Hey.... but, that's what they are proud of, the speed at which its coming together. I said that I was not interested and got in my old Cummins that afforded daily therapy every time I got in and took off. :thumb1:
