I dont know what the dealer charges for everything but im sure its high. I would just pic whatever you want and use it, all the top 15w40 oils are good but remember factory fill for cummins is valvoline premium blue. I have been using it and baldwin bt7349 oil filter for a while and dont plan on switching anytime soon. I do suggest you get a baldwin pf7977 fuel filter because they filter to 5 microns instead of the 7 all the other filters go down to and cummins recomends 3 microns.

Transmission (Manual) is the only one I suggest the Mopar fluid for. The rest is common every day fluids. Engine oil 15w-40 (pick a brand)Power Steering fluid (not ATF)Transfer Case is ATF+4 but ATF+3 will work also.Axles 80w-90 GL-5 Gear lube is fine.Coolant (pick a brand all are good)Brake fluid (Any DOT-3)

I dont know about 2nd gens but my power steering fluid is ATF and not actual power steering fluid.

I run Amsoil in every location on my truck except brake fluid and coolant.

Ditto for me........except for engine oil....................I use Valvoline Premium Blue now............mainly because I got a great deal on it a year ago and bought a case!! Otherwise it'd still be WallyWorld SuperTech!!!:thumb1:

The third gens not going to like the Castrol engine oil for the diesel. Castrol to my knowledge don't make a full synthetic oil for the rearend. My '06 Cummins and the wifes '84 MB 300SD didn't appreciate the Castrol Diesel oil. I bought it on sale. Wally Worlds Supertech 15w-40 is a better oil according to the test on Turbo Diesel Registry. Castrol placed at the very bottom. Supertech was # 2 or 3 on the list With Valvoline Premium blue taking 1st spot.

Who doesn't make a full synthetic 75w-90? The owners manual for my 05 states that synthetic 75w-90 is required.

So I guess Castrol gear lube is a no-go for 3rd gens.

Well I broke down an looked, they make a full syn after all. Finding it will be the trick, unless you buy direct from a wholesaler and they order it in. None of my retailers carry it, the wholesalers have to order by the case, and you take it by the case. http://www.castrol.com/castrol/sectiongenericarticle.do?categoryId=82915494&contentId=7036193
