I have an 03 dually with the 5.9 Cummins and 6 spd manual. There is some blowby, not bad but enough to notice it when the truck is idling and you look under the front. I found some seals and an open ended ring in the dash pocket when I bought he truck, I wonder if the turbocharger seals were changed and not put back right, and if that is causing my blowby. (See the bottom cause in the chart) Anybody have any thoughts on this ?

I am looking to locate where the fuse or relay is on my 2007 5.9 3500 Ram. I have searched hi and low to no avail so hope someone can give me some good direction. This truck has the TIPM module and there is no indication on the cover of a fuse for the fuel or lift pump. My dealer is a bit shakey but indicates the fuel pump which is located in the tank is controlled in the solid state circuitry of the TIPM so there is no assessable fuse or relay. If true and if I want to disable the fuel pump for a test I would have to find the connector somewhere back by the fuel tank and disconnect. Is this the situation or is there another more accurate procedure?

Well, it appears I have a new issue with my truck. Under acceleration I get a fairly thick cloud of black smoke along with sluggish acceleration. The harder I mash the pedal the worse it gets. It rarely ever smoked before unless I turned the Minimaxx up and romped on it. Even then it wasn't near as bad as it is now. Some background:I've just moved from Alaska to Utah. I drove roughly 3500 miles with a gross weight of 22,000 pounds. Minimaxx was set on the Tow setting (+60hp). At the beginning of the trip the temps at 65mph on relatively flat ground were as follows:Ambient 60*Coolant 195-200Tranny 170-180Egt 900-1000When I got to Washington state the temps were sitting atA…

Will add pics to steps shortly. This covers the 47 and 48 RE transmissions but there is evidence that it is used on other years / types of Chrysler products. Procedure should be similar for the other automatics used in the 2500 3500 line of trucks. OK, changed out the Neutral Safety Switch, AKA transmission range sensor last night. Easy job, but messy as all get out. You'll need a drain pan, 1/4 drive ratchet, 6" extension ( 4" would probably work ), small TORX bits ( forgot to check the size ), 1qt or more of ATF+4 ( depending on how fast you are ). Wouldn't be a bad idea to do this in conjunction with a fluid and filter change of the transmission. …

I took some pics as I did mine last week, and thought I'd try making a write up on it. Basic tools etc. you'll need are , approx. 8qts. of ATF+4/filter,Governor press. solenoid and transducer,1/4' drive torque wrench, 1/4" & 3/8" socket sets, basic metric wrench set, a pick or small screwdriver, a drill with a 1/2" bit for the drain plug kit, big catch pan:thumbup2:, and a paint pen or sharpie, plus whatever I forgot:ashamed: 1) Drop pan to drain the fluid, the easiest way is to go around and loosen them all just a turn, then work from one side loosen the bolts in steps. The idea is to get the pan to drop on only one side to minimize spilling and dump the f…

Heard the tick, tick backing out of the garage this AM. Went to work, and got home 30 minutes ago. Just got done checking the axle u-joints, and I've got a dry cap on the drivers side!! I just greased the front end less than 4000 miles ago, and the axle u-joints looked good. I got grease to ooze out all the caps back then.Anyhow, if I'm gonna have the front end apart again, I'm going with a free-spin kit to save on doing axle u-joints every 50-60,000 miles. Just wondering what the resident experts here thought was the best/most economical kit to go with. There's DynaTrac, SpynTech, and I think one or two others.Must be all the trailer maneuvering I do at the barns I w…

Hello, I'll try to keep this short and to the point. I own a 04 Ram 2500, SBQC, 5.9L 24v, 4x4 Automatic with 250k+mi. on it , Sunday morning I went on a drive and noticed that the transmission was not shifting into over drive, all the other gears seem to work fine though. I checked the fluid level and it was at proper level it also looked clean as well. I had a friend hook up a scanner to it and check for any silent DTC's and got nothing. He then checked APPS readings because I changed it 2 weeks ago and he advised that I calibrated the new APPS within the required tolerances so it was not that. We then took the truck for a drive while he read the scanner and he said that…

Died while driving. Cranks, No start, No communication with any scanner. (tried 3 ) No gauges, No tach, No low beams as of a couple weeks ago.. Checked for power at PCM, - Pcm had 12 volts at the Two main PCM feed circuits. We unplugged the fan clutch, disconnected the batteries, touched + & - together for ten minutes with the key on. Reconnected – no changes. Checked every single fuse. Added engine grounds, cleaned all positive terminals. REMOVED, disassembled entire TIPM. Cleaned all TIPM contacts internally. TIPM had no visible corrosion, No visible cracked solders, no visible cracked pathways. had a lot of dust, some oxidation on the main pow…

What are we likely to see/feel/experience?? Both long term...........slow death. And short term..........catastrophic failure. As of today, MightyWhitey has 205,612 miles...........and running great and getting get mileage. Other than the sensor issue in Feb., all is well. Reading over the years; and much more recently, it seems OEM CR injectors last anywhere from 40,000-400,000 miles. Not a real consensus for sure. Other than the obvious of making oil, white smoke and hard starts........................What are most "likely signs" of eminent CR injector failure, if any?? Noisier, RP variations from normal, poor mileage, etc. And what's the deal with us…

For anyone interested, I've got the 04.5 listed in my signature. I've been running 2 stroke oil in her now for almost 1.5 years and 30,000+ miles. No problems at all. No gummed up injectors, no carboned up injectors, no frozen fuel in cold weather and none of the other crazy fears thrown out there about using this stuff in your fuel. What I have seen is a smoother idle and high speed operation. I've also seen about a .5-1 mpg increase in fuel mileage since I starting using the 2 stroke. I've always had a smooth and quiet 3rd generation truck also!! But the oil makes it even more quiet!!! I just got back from a week long hunting trip to North Dakota. We obviousl…

Starting to have a dead pedal symptom. When I shift, sometimes the pedal goes dead, no engine response for a second or 2, then it comes back to life. Initially it started as a hiccup. Would just be noticeable between shifts. No codes, new symptom is first start today was rough, low idle, ran ~5 seconds then died. Started back up with no issues, minus the hiccup/dead pedal issues. Around a year ago had the FCA go out. Replaced it ran fine. This winter I have had to plug the block heater in since the batteries are going out. Or else they almost don't have enough juice to start the truck after cycling the grid heater. Yea I have one bad grid heater solenoid so only…

I've got a 2005 Dodge Ram 3500. There is no error codes presently and rail pressure is a max of roughly 5,000 psi and at idle its start to surge dropping as low as 1,900 PSI on the rail. I know this is not enough rail pressure at all for normal operation. I've changed the FCA without any change in pressure or operation. Where to go next?

So I was looking at the smarty tuner site, thinking about a tuner, and trying to figure out which would be best for me and my truck. I like the price of the JR. better than the S06 and I'm wondering if I really need the bigger tuner. I got this truck to pull my TT and some day I might go up to a 5er. I will tow my Harley and maybe a boat. So that's the extent of the weight. It's also my daily driver. Not planning on using the truck for any commercial purpose. I won't be building a race truck and I don't want the truck belching smoke. I have a Flowmaster muffler and an airraid intake tube.If I have to change injectors I will probably go with the Smarty 50 hp injectors( whi…

Hello all. Been lurking for a while, first post! This truck is still new to me, trying to figure out what’s normal and what’s not. 2006 G56 4wd 3.73 DRW 163k I have a little over 3000 miles on a long block with a Hamilton 178/208 with reman injectors I sourced from my local Bosch facility. While I’d prefer a Smarty Jr, truck came with a Juice with Attitude so I have been running that. All else is stock. My normal trip and main use for this truck is hauling my 8.5x20 standard height bumper pull enclosed with my Jeep inside from CT to PA via interstates 84 and 81. Trailer is roughly 8500lb loaded up, so I am guessing…
