I changed the oil in my 04.5.:stuned: Remember I had that gasket/seal replaced in April???? Well I did one more TP change after the work and sent in an oil sample to Blackstone. I told Blackstone of the work........front cover off, valve cover off, rockers and tappets pulled etc. The analysis wasn't bad, but they thought that with having the engine "apart" that I should change it. So I did. Almost 84,000 miles without a complete oil change!!!!I changed oil brands also. I found a super deal on Valvoline Premium Blue 15W40 dino. This is the oil Cummins puts in their engines from the factory. Paid $11.23/gal........so I bought all of them off the shelf!!!! 7 gallons in…

I have searched all over for days and cannot seem to find anything to help that applies to a 3rd gen. Issue: When I try to cold start (after truck sitting all night and it below 40 degrees out) the truck simply wont turnover unless I leave it plugged in all night. i'm talking NOT AT ALL. then I figured out that the WTS light is only staying on for a max of 3 seconds when cold so the grid heater isn't cycling long enough to warm up. it will stay on for the regular 10 seconds but only when the truck is at operating temp and shut it off and immediately turn it back on. Dropped on a set of brake calipers for a 3rd gen both fronts and rears to rebuild, they were is a sorry state but £10 for all 4 is ok. Pistons were well and truely seized, tried a few things to get them out, wouldn't budge using compressed air so settled on a 24mm metric coarse taper tap which taps into the piston end just nice, a 24mm nut screwed onto the tap before turning it into the piston gives a nice flat surface to lever against, this pulled all 8 out, if this would have failed I was going to machine a tube to sit over the piston and a big washer and use the nut and tap to pull the pistons out... didn't need to in the end I found it best to leave the stee…

trans has 210K on it. at the 150 mark it was clean as it is now. just the added steal pieces kinda worry me. still very clean though. drives shifts great. advise.

ok my neighbor at my appartment just bought a 06 2500 and all weekend it did great but thisevening he started having issues first he said that randomly at idle weather warm or cold his voltage will start dropping then he said his fain quit and that if you turn the truck off with head lights on then try to turn them off the parking lights will stay on any ideas as to what this could be caused from i feel bad for him sence he jus bought it friday and is already having probs

Can the EGT on the CR engines be "too low". I'm not talking idle EGT either. I'm talking highway cruising EGT. Both going to and coming home from my folks for Christmas, my trucks were running 500-525* over level ground at 65mph. 60 mile trip one way and all highway. The EGT's seemed to be normal while rowing thru the gears though, so the gauge wasn't stuck. Outside temps were 34*F going down and 23*F coming back today. Smarty was on SW3 default settings. Truck ran good, just curious here.:confused:

Hello, so I've just been going threw my truck. Had some personal issues come up, and haven't been dumping $ into it for like over a year. I am into my second week with my 05 with 38k miles and it seems it smokes a little heavy. When I get into it it smokes like my second gen with 50hp inj. and the Edge EZ hooked up. Are these trucks going to smoke like that? It only has 38k on the clock.

Well,, I have ran into a snag with my free spin hub, and ball joint replacement. After putting the pass side together I decided I was`nt satisfied with the "loose" press fit of the new Dynatrac ball joints. I called dynatrac and they were more than happy to send me a set of knurled joints and swap me strait out plus shipping. I`m going on two weeks with my truck on jack stands, and it looks like its going to be early next week at best before the new joints get here.. evidently they have had to machine a set out and assemble them before they could ship?? My front passenger side window no longer works. Nothing from both the passenger side switch or the drivers side master panel switch. That would lead me to believe it's the motor..........correct????? Or is this run thru the PCM also???I have no test equipment, so have do I check for where the problem is??? That window was always slower up and down than the others; even when new. In fact, on last years NoDak hunting trip, it was in and out...........sometimes it'd work, sometimes not.Thanks in advance!!

how low do you let the tread get before replacing tires? as much as i love the ride and traction of my BFG's they are already at 6 thousands. i have just under 20K on them, not sure they'll last the winter. i have a 3-4K mile road trip coming up here on the 20'th. up through Oregon and Idaho. so i'm sure it'll kill the remaining life on these, So what do ya'll think? AH64ID has the ST MAXX's in 255/80R17, i'm thinking about those, but how many miles might they last? I'm in need of a nationwide tire dealer for all the traveling we do. should i go with 18" rims? we don't tow much with this truck, not yet anyhow. it's mainly a road trip queen. …

I rotated my tires a while ago, just because I'd not done it in a while. Truck tracked straight and true, no problems. However; right after rotating, I had a pull to the right and the steering seems less responsive. Drove for about 3-4000 miles this way, and couldn't take it any longer. I did the normal rotation pattern I've always done...................rears straight forward to the front, and the fronts crossed to the rears. Anyhow, the truck is back to driving like it was prior to the previous rotation. The drivers side front, which is now on the passengers side rear, was wearing very strangely. Found a set of new reman 04.5-07 injectors on a local classified site and have never heard of this company. http://www.gbreman.com/catalog.aspx Just wondering if anyone has any experience or info on this company. I was driving down the hwy when my truck started running rough and smoking. Had to go about 20 miles to my destination. Found a broke push rod in #3 intake. Replaced the rod and checked the valves. Valves seem to be operating fine.Clearance is good. Truck runs good but when accelerating still have white smoke pretty bad. Truck is an 04 3/4 ton HO. Did have a broke exhaust spring in 2010. It was fixed by dealer. Need some help. Thanks

I checked the voltage in both of my batterys yesterday and they both were 11.84 volts. This is after sitting for 3 days. The truck starts good and charges in the 14 volt range or 13.9 as checked with a meter. After driving the batterys both read 12.5 volts. This morning back to 11.84 volts.I was always told a battery is in the dead range under 12 volts. Anyone got any hints?I did just recently have a jake brake installed in the truck and they put a lead to the battery + side for the power to it.
