3rd Generation Dodge

This is a discussion forum of the 2003 to 2009 3rd Generation Dodge Ram Trucks with 5.9L and 6.7L Common Rail Cummins Turbo Diesel power train and drive line system.

  1. I figured I would post this for future reference since there is some doubt on this seal. If you ever have the rear output seal (rear driveshaft) go bad, the skf23000 works perfect. Napa is suppose to be able to have it but my local napa was worthless. I ended up buying one off amazon with overnight shipping for $20. Compared to the 50-60 mopar seal. You will need a 3-1/2" or 4" piece of pipe to install it. But it goes right in.

Just wondering if the Ultra Gauge can be used for a Boost and EGT gauge?

  3. Started by Killer223,

So i get fuel at SamsClub. They have the highest turn over of tanks in town. They get 4 trucks a day. I asked the driver about when they will switch to the winter blend of fuel. He told me they do not have one. That they don't add anything. I can't seem to find this info on the other fuel stations her in town. Maverick, or Conoco are the only other places i'd fill up as they have a kinda high turn over of tanks. I could drive 12 miles out of town to a Pilot truck stop, but still I cant seem to find info on when/if they switch over to a winter blend. does anyone know of a database of stations that sell Bio. any information anyone can provide would be great. …

I have noticed recently a strange sound, or sensation while my truck is idleing. The best way I can describe it is it feels like a random intermitten stumble.. Like an AC clutch engaging against head pressure. I have not had a chance to investigate with the hood up yet to see if it is in fact something belt driven or not. I read another post where a member had experienced what he called an intermitten studder while idleing, and it was his FCA..?

I'm new to owning a cummins I purchased a 2003 5.9 quad cab, and it has a quadzilla max milage and a pv1 monitor on it. The guy told me I could download a xzt tune for it, but I can't find it anywhere. If anyone knows anymore or has the files please email them to me or inform me on what I need to know. Thanks! While driving home from my farm this evening, I had to accelerate going over an overpass when my truck suddenly stalled. I put it in neutral while coasting down the other side, and cranked it several times before it finally restarted. I babied it on home (about 5 miles) and it seemed to have no further issues. My question is this symtoms of a lift pump going out? or do they normally fail completely all at once? This is my 03 CR with the original pump mounted to the filter canister, and there was no CEL. Anybody experience this before?

Any guys over here running smarty UDC tuning that you have programmed yourself? I've downloaded the software, and am looking into helping my brother write programs for his 05. The software seems simple and straight forward. He is just looking to decrease low end smoke and increase fuel mileage. After hours of searching the forums this looks like the way to go!

Well, heres an update on my injector issue. One of the good things about buying a truck that someone you know was the last owner is that when you text them about your problem they call you and say, " you know, the truck did something weird one time and you might want to check.............." So what I was told to check was the fuel pressure sensor connection. Unplug it and plug it back in. I also blew in it for good measure. And wouldn't you know it, the truck has been starting good the last 6 days. Knock on wood, but it looks like it wasn't injectors after all.

So give me your thoughts. I called Snarty and asked about the BBis and if they had cured the injector failure problems. They wouldn't commit to a yes saying there hadn't been enough used to tell. Said 2 micron filter was the answer. So I took that as a no. So tell me what you think woul be best and why.

I’d like to through this out for general thoughts. I just bought the wife a new pickup and they made such a big deal out of nitrogen in the tires instead of air. I have heard they have been doing this for a while and it’s supposed to benefit the vehicle owner. Now from what I’ve read, it keeps the tires cooler and helps lengthens the life of the tire since there is no moisture in the pressured vessel as with filling atmospheric air as over the many decades. Also helps prevent rust or corrosion on the inner wheel material not covered by the tire. Formula One drivers really benefit from this during a race. And the places where they fill or cap your tires off charge betwe…

This weak the truck started starting hard when it is cold. Truck sits for 12 hrs between driving. It will stumble at about 500rpm for a couple revolutions then build up to normal idle rpm and runs fine. If I shut it off and restart it starts fine. Ambient temps at startup have been between 69 to into the 80s. Any ideas?
