Last summer I installed some 7x.009 (100hp) VCO injectors and have only put a couple thousand miles on them, slight upgrade from my previous 60hp VCOs. I have been getting a really loud pinging/panging when the the torque converter is locked and under load. Doesn't happen in 1st or 2nd gear and it clears up around 2000rpm when the turbo is really flowing. It's definitely coming from the motor. Anyone experience this? I was reading about pre detonation and it sounds like it. Only happens under good throttle and almost always up hill under load. Any thoughts?

Hi Everyone, I drove my truck today for the first time in a few weeks and it seems like my engine idle noise is louder then it should be (see attached video). I know the Nv4500 makes more noise then the auto does in all driving conditions however it seems louder then I recall. The manual swap has roughly 800 miles on it and the video is after driving for 35mins. Does it sound like maybe I need to adjust the valves? Whats your thoughts or post similar videos. 01 Ram Walk-Around @ Idle - 10.16.16.mp4

  3. Hi everyone im pretty new to the whole forum thing as you can tell. I have been having some issues with my truck recently and cant seem to figure it out so that is what led me here as i know mopar1973man is a very reputable person throughout the forum community. I have a 1999 2500 24 valve automatic with the dreaded VP44. The truck is stock other than a five inch straight pipe. When I purchased the truck the man told me that the IP had been replaced before an gave me that receipt which says it was done around 150,xxx. Earlier I went out and started my truck let it warm up for about ten to twelve minutes an went on my way might i add it is around 48 to 50 degrees here whe…

Finally got around to changing fuel filters at 54k miles. Don't look bad for 54k miles. No loss in fuel pressure either. Those where install 220k miles I just changed them at 274,500 miles.

  5. 2001 Ram 2500 w 5.9 HO, 6-Speed, external fuel pump - Stock - I had 2-3 times where I had the Dead Pedal issue, so while tinkering I decided to give it more power for towing so here is what I did AirDog 150, pulled bed, installed draw straw 1/2 inch from the bottom of the tank, Ran outlet right into VP44. - Removed old filter and pump off the side of the engine and capped. 7. Currently I have a FASS draw straw and a sump with a new Airdog DF 100 system. The new Airdog system is hooked up to a sump and currently the draw straw is plugged off at the fittings. I recently got a Carter for a back up pump. I would like to keep the sump for the Airdog and its filters and run a fuel line close to the VP44 with shut off valve. And then hook up the carter via the draw straw thru to the stock fuel filter on motor then to a shut off valve. With a shut off valve on each line, I would open that valve for the line I’m using at the time. Then install pressure gauge, then to VP44. And install a toggle switch for on/off switch to each pump. Questio…

  8. I am not one to normally post problems, due to i have not found many things that have not already been discussed. I have 2002 ram 2500 auto, 4x4, 24v, sport that has some major things going on with the modules, and can bus signal. I am getting readings from +3.5-4 volts -3.5-4volts. ref should be 5 volts overall limit. The injection pump has been tested standalone( cummins module) we have scoped the obd2 port on canbus+ and can bus-. the ecm has been disconnected to verify a change in signal limits( no change), and we are still having problems with out of limits voltage readings. More info... It had a tst powermax 3 stacked with a ts mvp tuner. The truck has been returned…

So earlier this week I put the big line kit on from my factory filter to the VP44. After checking all the connections I went to the car wash and powerwashed under the hood around the starter, whole factory fuel filter unit, and around the inlet for the VP44. This morning was 36 degrees and the truck started fine and drove about 30 miles on the freeway headed out deer hunting. Pulled up to my friends house and then the RPM gauge drops to zero, CEL on, and the truck started almost like hiccuping or bumping RPM up. Backed out and drove it down the street and the truck seemed to drive fine. Pulled over, shut it off, waited about a minute then turned it over. Tru…

I went to start my truck the other week and when I cycled the key my pump sounded weird like it was growling or pumping slow and it would kick off almost immediately even when I cycled the key for it to pump 20 seconds it would kick off. I called airdog and after a little bit of troubleshooting he figured my pump was going out so I bought a new and improved "4G pump". But the day I went to replace it the fuel pressure started to rise and eventually it sounded normal again and didn't have any other issues with it. So I changed out the pump and figured all was well. """I just changed the filters a couple months ago and have probably 300 miles on the new filters so we figur…

  14. Picked up a cater pump for backup pump just in case of airdog failure. Not sure what is best for pump, if I should mount it now or wait till I need it, if I ever do. Choices are: Carry carter pump under rear seat in plastic bag. ...Ready to go if and when I need it. Who knows when I might need it, but pump gets no exercise but is not exposed to weather, etc. OR mount it now next to airdog pump? ...Exposed to weather, and I'll probably will hook it up maybe twice a year to make sure still works. What would yo do? Thanks for your input.

I finally spent some time this weekend pulling and resealing my vacuum pump. I have been having some pretty good oil leaks as of late, also a ton of smoke ou tof the breather tube. I have also been having low vacuum issue at idle. Pretty easy to do, hardest part is getting the 4 nuts holding the PS pump to the back of the vacuum pump off. I highly suggest taking the truckt o a self wash place and power washing the area well before you start. Takes about 3 hours the first time you do it, prob half of that the next time you do it. I have been %100 drip free since rebuilding it so I am pretty happy. I also have plenty of vacuum n…

  17. I know a couple of times I've had my batteries disconnected anywhere from 15-30+ minutes. I've never done an apps reset (didn't know about it). I'm asking because I'm still having issues with my truck (at times) dropping in and out of lock up.. like yesterday was horrible. Just releasing the slightest of tension on the accelerator would cause it at 55, 65 and higher. Today.. no issue whatsoever tho.. Ran around 80 miles.. stop and go and highway.. never dropped out once. Not sure why it has good days and bad? I'm getting a TPS low voltage code every time I check and clear. I'm going to try the reset procedure tomorrow based on cumminsdog suggestion. And.. I still need to…

My 99 QCLB has 315k on it and is on the 3rd lift pump. The previous owner had the fuel pump replaced by the dealer the first time then used a big rig shop's replacement similar to the carter. So far it has been working great. The big rig shop also installed a fuel pressure dummy light which comes on only when with the wait to start is there. One of the banjo fittings on the VP44 is where the dummy light has been installed. Once the truck is running it never has come on. I mostly use the truck for hauling a little 7x12 utility trailer, camping, and pretty much any other excuse I can use to drive it. Reading through the different articles I see the first upgrade I sho…

I recently got my much needed gauges and hooked up fuel pressure first to check things out. When i bumped the starter for the 25 second run, it jumped to 24 and slowly increased all the way up to 26! Does this sound like a return line restriction? I have an adjustable overflow valve that is preset at 14 psi. What could be going on here? I think this is the cause of my rough running truck...
