  1. I was out of town and I pulled onto road and the truckstalled. The day before it was loaking but drove fine. Got Error code 1689 (ECM Comm failure) Noticed no Fuel pres. Installed new Lift pump and newfuel filter... No fix Friends shop looked at it and run 12v to Inf Pump pin#7 andGrnd to #6(?). Truck ran for 30min. ECM failure!? ECM replaced butneeded programmed. Dealership tried to program but continous failures (notenough power to ECM). 1 week later no one could figure it out so I had it towedhome. Won't start, no fuel pressure and lift pump does not turnon. No power to VP44 pin#7, constant 12V on Blue with red tracer…

I have an H/O 6 speed exhaust brake 2001 3500 with 15300 miles now I was stumbling around here and found a thread on cleaning these sensors so I went ahead and pulled them out and and they where very black to say the least now I pulled a pretty good hill just to see where I was at on the EGT and boost then claened the sensors and the same numbers came up didn't seem to help right off the gitgo now should I notice a difference long term or should I be looking at somthing else. Truck seems to run fine no problems but you know could always use more power. Also I do have a banks performance chip don't remember witch one maybe this is over ridding these sensors any ideas?

So, looking under the hood one day, checking the oil level, I noticed a hairline crack running right between cylinder 3 and 4. More than likely and I'm putting money it, the funky color I was seeing under the turbo on th manifold was probably this same crack, but I bet it has now traveled. If not though, and regardless, how much of this is a problem and do I need to worry? If this is a mandatory fix, what do I need to go with? - - - Updated - - - Nobody, eh?

Started truck getting ready to go to work. Backed out of garage Turned onto highway went about 100 yards lost all power started missing. Got turned around and started back to house noticed DTC and no fuel pressure. The code was p0216. No time to check anything, jump into the wife car get to work. All day thinking 1500.00 for new vp 44. Remembered no fuel pressure, checked when I got home' put key in turn to on lift pump runs. Bump engine lift pump runs for 20 seconds. Thinking one time thing. Pull onto road lose all power. So start checking wires. Found one rubbing, no break in insulation but taped it and put cover over it. Also changed the relay for the fuel heater/diese…

I pulled the transmission out of my truck Friday to get rebuilt and I'm looking at upgrading the flex plate. I've been doing some reading and by the sounds of it some guys replace them and some don't. I don't race nor do I plan on racing so the 29.3SFI approved flex plate would do me no good. I was leaning towards a billet one but 400 bucks is kinda outlandish in my opinion. The factory one is probably fine, but I've read they break or crack under stock power. As long as I have it this far apart I just assume replace it with something I know will be good, rather than have to tear it all apart again later because it broke. I see BD has a forged flex plate for 350 bucks, …

So I did the wt ground mod on my truck, and also decided to clean up the spaghetti that was on my battery terminals for all my accessories. I wired in two battery bus terminals, and ran all my accessories to them(including the quadzilla module), and ran the power to the positive off the old alternator post on the pdc. Well, that was a mistake because my stupid self didn't crimp the terminal good enough for the wire that runs from the battery positive post to the pdc. It arced inside the connector, and shut the whole truck down. I fixed it right away, but it dumped the programming on my quadzilla. I managed to reflash it, but now it doesn't read the map sensor, and the tru…

I bought a 1999 4x4 auto with about 104,000 miles a couple years ago which idled fine, but when under any load would smoke alot .... no modifications. I did not know any better and thought it had O.K. power until I rode in someone else's 24v. Well I looked for everything that would cause smoke. Ended up being a bad injector, replaced with RV 275's and now have good power. My question is, would me running the truck for about 15,000 miles, and I don't know how long before I bought it with bad injectors, cause issues with longevity of the motor. The truck now has 170,000 and runs fine and does not blow oil. Also the short block only had about 40,000 miles when I bought it.Sor…

Ok, I'm changing axle seals on my 00 2500 and run into a problem I've not found anywhere else. The next step is to remove the carrier. The passenger outer axle is out as is the driver axle. The diff cover is off and the cad cover is off. The remaining passenger intermediate shaft is slid all the way to the drivener side as it should be. It is making contact with a pin in the center of the carrier so it literally can't move further. All that is left is to remove the shift nut from the cad housing and remove the passenger inner shaft. Youtube shows this as an easy process. On my truck, there isn't enough room for the shift nut to come out. It looks like …

  11. Hi everybody, I'm a new member here, but have been lurking for some time learning as much as I can. My first truck was a lifted 01 f350 with the 7.3 psd. It had an exhaust leak and possibly bad injectors, and was lifted way high with 38's. Not my style truck, and was more than I felt comfortable tackling myself (I was 20). I found an immaculate 02 cummins with 115k miles, totally unmolested with a paint matched canopy and bed rug. I was in love from the first time I saw it on craigslist. Went and bought it the next day with a small loan. Fast forward about 2 years today, still have it and love it. It now has 140k on the clock and I have done oil changes and fuel fil…

So I came out to my truck this morning and saw a pretty good size puddle under it. Now my parking lot at our apartment complex just got re-sealed the day before, so I figured that helped with the size of the puddle but when I saw it running off I got worried. SO I babied it to work and parked in on a flat surface and waited. It took about 2 hours before it started dripping, at first I thought it was coolant but it wasn't, it was oil. I crawled under and I saw the oil dripping right from behind the harmonic balancer. I am assuming that it has to be either the front main seal or from the timing cover. I have never attempted a front main seal, so what do I need to loo…

  13. Any ideas? Truck sat for a month, batteries disconnected. The fuel tank was topped off before it was shut down, and the darn thing seemed to be running fine. Return after a month down South, charged batteries, reconnected them, attempt to start. No wait to start light. Electric lift pump ran for maybe a minute, not much fuel pressure. Bump starter, wait for fuel pressure...nothing. Crank engine, fired once and disengaged starter but did not run. No check engine light. Tried several times, but now not getting any fuel pressure and no fire from engine. Finally dragged out my DRB III (its the only tool that can reliably read these early 1998.5's) and can see message: …

Hello all, I have a Isspro oil pressure gauge(R17211) due to arrive hopefully Monday and wanted to know if I could mount it on the drivers side in what I believe is an oil gallery. I have been looking at threads on the forums and most I find most are about the CR's. Looking to see if this is what I think it is and if it is has anyone used this as a location for the sender. Otherwise I will use the port on the oil cooler/filter housing.

  15. have been noticing a drop in power and loud engine noise from the drivers side under heavy acceleration for a month or more and started digging on the weekend. I found my boot coming off the intercooler on the drivers side has about a 3 inch slit in it caused by the inner fender. Could'nt see it until i started pushing on the boot because of the road dirt build up on it.Now just to figure out where i'm going to buy a boot

So I have been having some surging issues under light pedal. It will consistently do this on any program I have on my quadzila, but no issues when turned to factory? I just installed a timbo apps and when I had cover off there is a sticker on the VP44 stating remanufactured. I bought the pickup 4 years ago from original owner and he never mentioned that the injection pump was ever replaced. Did they come from the factory remanufactured? Just seeing if anyone has seen this sticker on a pump from the factory

  17. I need some help identifying the electrical connectors on this fuel filter head I got from ebay. It accepts a fleetguard FS 19596 7 Micron fuel filter with the water separator at the bottom and and electrical connection at the bottom. As can be seen from the pics, the filter head has a connector on the side, and 2 plugs, which are tied in together. The FS 19596 filter, as can be seen, has a connector on the bottom. I am looking for 2 things: 1. What type of connectors are these, as I plan on getting the correct mating partner for each (i.e. are they deutsch, multi lock, etc) 2. What are the connectors used for. I know the one connector on the side is de…

  19. So I have a 99 24 valve Cummins with 7x14 injectors, bigger-ish turbo, delivery tubes, and lift pump and no tuner on it. When I shift into any gear when the truck is warm it feels like the truck either has to much load on it or tries to overcompensate and it just stalls out. The Tranny is stock. Was told it has billet converter but I’m not positive. It only does this after the truck has been running at operating temp. First start up in morning it shifts fine no issues. Any ideas???

  20. i just installed a used but known to be good vp44. before doing so i never had any of the issues im about to mention. when removing old vp 44 i was rolling over alternator by the alternator pully nut to clock vp44 at 12 o clock my when my ratchet inadvertently touch the positive battery post just for a split second. after installing new pump every thing seemed fine until truck warmed up. when truck warms up and i go to put in r,d,2,or 1 it stalls if i give it some throttle it stays running. sometimes it will start right up other times it wont when it doesnt sometime the lift pump runs for 25 seconds sometimes it doesnt run at all after cracking (not sure if this is tc tr…
