I have removed my cruise servo and before I throw $100 at a new one, I want to make sure this one is actually bad. Ohm meter reads 4.5 between ground pin and one of the others, 8.5 ohms to the other two. I can apply vacuum and apply power to check solenoid operation if needed, does anyone know if it takes a 5 volt signal, or does PCM send 12 volts? The idea of hooking volt meter leads to the truck-side plug and driving over 30 MPH to see if the PCM sends a signal just seems like a last resort. EDITS: I can confirm it takes more than 5V to operate the solenoids. Also, I believe mine is bad because when I applied vacuum and en…

Had some weird things going on coming back from Atlanta last night. Stuck in slooow traffic thru down town the engine jumped in idle to a bit over 1000 rpm. It also started surging about 250 more rpm up down in an even pattern for about 10 seconds. Did it it again 3 or 4 times getting thru town. The temp gauge dropped out also. Matter of fact it would only do it while the temp was out. Not sure how they are related. This happened a few more times on the rest of the trip except very little surging but had the elevated idle. It also only did this at very low speed or idle. Sitting at my sons work waiting on him so I can have a warm dry place to check it out. So I pull…

So yesterday I was driving in winter like conditions, busted through two snow drifts, shortly after that my dash went dead except the tach. 'No bus' was displayed in the odometer and my over head consol had 'CCd'. I was able to get to a small town only about 70 miles from home before the batteries gave out. I just put on an ecm and pcm from a 99 manual, so I am not sure if the ecm gave out or if it might be an electrical issue? I tried to read the codes with my Smarty but it seems that it can not find the ecm, it just keeps telling me to turn the key off then turn the key on. I do have a down load on the Smarty so I am also wondering if the ecm is toast is there any …

So, I can't find it anywhere anymore, but I thought I saw a thread on here talking about using toilet paper in an oil filter container. Anyone know about it and if so, is it still available?

I've heard conflicting information about how much vapor pressure exists inside a Cummins during normal operating temperatures. One guy said it was outrageously high while another said it can't exceed the radiator cap pressure rating. Is the pressure greater inside the engine than inside the radiator?

I recently had problems with my airdog turning off on me. I would un plug the relay and plug it back in and it would work fine for a little and then turn off again. I changed the fuel filter tonight after more miles than I'm willing to admit and its feeling a lot more responsive. Now the thing that's weird though is when I get around 7 lbs of boost it sounds like the airdog is spoiling along with my turn. I'm guessing it's because it's under higher fuel demand than when at idle. It's an Airdog 2 4G 165GPH. I put a WIX 33627 filter on it. It's been fairly quiet until now. Anyone have any ideas as to what it might be?

02 5.9 QC dually 6 speed. 200k. Just what it sounds like. I noticed power steering fluid on my floor matt, appears to be dripping off of my brake push rod. Issue is intermittent, does not leak constantly. I know the brake power assist is by the power steering pump. Just wondering if anyone has had this issue and how difficult is it to repair or get the brake booster thing out of there. Is it just a seal to be replaced? or do I need to replace the brake booster assy? Do I need to crack all brake lines & remove the master cyl? Thanks!

Anybody see a boost reading on a Scangauge II showing Boost 0.1 cold engine and 21.3 after it warms up? While cold it drives like a slug, but when warm drives like a dragster. Thanks for any comments.

Okay so i bought this truck and drove it with no problems except for having to rebuild the weak auto trans , but i was driving it for about 15 minutes and got it good and hot then i stopped at a store and when i came back outside to leave, when i started my truck back up the engine started revving uncontrollably up and down like i was stomping on the pedal really fast on and off. I turned it off and caught a ride from somebody else and when i came back later, it started up just fine and i drove it home. Ever since, this has happened maybe 4 times and once it happened while i was driving. I got to a red light and the truck shut off, when i tried to start it back up same th…

I just did mine and realized what to do but, need some input on this idea.First of all I want to point out that the bed rib frame right in the way over the tank lid is very thin gauge steel. So my thought on this is to go ahead and cut it out of the way and place new steel reinforcement that makes it removable and stronger than original. My idea is simply to add steel reinforcement that sleeves/ slides inside both ends of the cut away bed rail and bolt them together with a few bolts. It would need to be rectangular tubing that fits inside the other just like a reciever hitch does with square tubing. When you want tank top access you simply remove the two or three bolts and…

I have not even began to locate my problem, but its pouring the rain so I thought I would get ideas from you guys in the meantime. I was working on my jeep down at a friends house last night, had about 3/8 tank of fuel and after sitting on a steep hill for a few minutes, both running and not. When I returned to my truck it was showing low fuel light and gauge was down past empty. I of course checked to make sure I had not had a leak or fuel line come off and I did indeed still have fuel. I thought it might have been just because of sitting on the hill, but the gauge remained below empty and light on for the entire 35 mile ride home, and I stopped to put about 10 more …

I was looking at Genos Garage checking out there auto trans pans. It claims to include trans filter extension, gauge tap, and magnetic drain plug, and up to 4 extra quarts of oil. 270.00. Are they worth it?

Long story short I was checking on my dad's cattle out in the field and got some really bad wheel hop and the exhaust came apart. Not a big deal I thought but after looking it over the Po who put the 4in exhaust on didn't get one of the pipes together and put the clamp on it egged out the one side and I can't get it back together. my question is can I cut about 1 inch off and put it back together or is this pipe flared on the bell side.
