Hello, new member, 1st post. Long time dodge CTD owner. Have lurked on many of the Diesel forums but never joined one. This one seems more laid back and relaxed then some I read info on. I just picked up my 3rd 24v 2nd gen truck a few weeks ago. It's a stone stock 98.5 24v, just had a reman IP pump put on it less then 4,000 miles before I bought it. I bought a 1999 brand new in the fall of 1998, I could write a novel about that trucks healthy appetite for lift & IP pumps and my experiences with cummins and dodge about it. But that is not a new story. No one had an aftermarket fix for those trucks back in the day when they were brand new, like a AD/Fass. …

Hey guys, Im wondering who has ever experienced an issue with the kdp on a 24v? Ive read of the possibilities of the problem continuing into the early years, but Ive never personally heard of anyone thats had the issue themselves. Has anybody experienced anything, either with your own truck or a buddies or a customers vehicle perhaps?

I have someone on the internet wanting to sell me a complete NV 5 speed gearbox out of a 1999 3500.I do not need (at this time) an extra gearbox but what he does have is a Gear Vendors overdrive attached to the rear end of the gearbox. Have been looking at a GV overdrive for a while now and simply cannot afford the $3000 price. EDIT This $3000 is for a new GV overdrive unit, not the used transmission!Any comments on if it would be worth looking at a 5 speed tranny even if it did have the GV overdrive with it? Personally I like the 6 speed box but would really love another high gear to lower my RPM's on the highway. If I did this could either swap the 6 for the 5 speed wit…

This is the second time my truck has done this. I helped a buddy pick up his newly acquired dodge dually and I had to winch it up onto his trailer. When I get done winching, the truck is idling at 950 and won't come down blipping the throttle or brake. I drove it 15 miles miles home and it was still doing it when I got home and every stop sign in between. I came in the house for a couple hours and went back out to reset the apps and cranked it before I did, it fired up and idled perfect. This happened last time I pulled a truck onto a trailer but I had to reset the apps to get it to idle back down. I guess this is a safety feature so the batteries don't get low?

Since I have had my truck, the stock oil pressure gauge has not worked. The people before me installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge on the pillar but I want to put my fuel pressure gauge there. Is there any way to test the oil pressure sender? I just want to make sure thats whats wrong. The gauge in the dash just sits at 40 psi any time the key is on. I also have the code p0522. I believe that is for the oil pressure being out of range or something. Thanks!!! - - - Updated - - - I read through the p0522 code article already, I was just wondering if anyone had a similar problem with their oil sensor before. I am pretty sure its just the sending unit but I dont…

Last night my buddy (so I can only go off what he tells me happened) had my truck and got a phone call this morning about a dead truck. Code read was p0122 early this morning (I believe this can be from spinning wheels in the snow?) and now the code is the p1693 companion code. I don't have a reader to check further into that one.He said that the truck just stalled out on him... literally just died.Quarter tank of fuel, 18psi fuel pressure when I bump the lift pump.No drips or leaks. I cracked numbers 1 and 3 injectors and he said he saw fuel from #1 but didn't say it was spraying or anything.Over the past 10-15k miles the truck has randomly died maybe 5 times but starts …

I've been having problems with my truck hesitating after about 10 minutes. Felt like a fuel supply issue. After seeing my fuel heater actually smoking I pulled the relay and have not had any problems with hesitation, and actually it seems as though I have a bit more power. I've read a lot on several forums about symptoms similar to mine, but no one has mentioned the fuel heater circuit as a potential cause. I just wanted to let the forum know that I had this issue that seems to be cured by disabling the fuel heater. No idea why this would cause a hesitation problem, except if the fuel got so hot that the VP would shut down, but I've never seen codes to indicate this.

Hi everyone. My truck runs fine all the time except when I start it and when high idle kicks on it gets to about 1000 rpm's and the truck dies. I have turned off the Quadzilla xzt to see if that helps but it doesn't change anything. Just wondering if its a Quadzilla issue or an engine issue?? I'm thinking its something to do with the chip but let me know because I have no idea if it isnt that.Thank You!!

Since my last oil change when I put in 0-40 synthetic oil I've noticed increased blow by up to where there is a fair size of a spot on the floor. Is this an indication of an overhaul in the near future or is it not a big worry short term?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I need some help, I recently acquired a wiring harness from a manual for my manual conversion and I need to see where the neutral safety switch plugs in under the dash. Could someone take a few pics and post them up of the mechanism that fits onto the slave cylinder shaft and where it plugs in at?

So interesting development on truck. Lately after initial startup the truck lopes real bad and would probably stall unless I gave a little fuel. After some throttle she's fine and first return till next startup Thinking air leak or ECM issue at startup that levels off Leaning air leak Fuel psi is steady at 15 psi before and after

I just installed a Pacbrake on my truck and the warm up feature is not working. It actually worked for 30 seconds on first startup but not any more. Just wondering if anybody here had thoughts or experiences. I ran a wire from the activating solenoid to the battery so I could turn it on manually and that works but it back feeds power somewhere and turns the HVAC on when I energize it!

After reading Mikes thread about the ball getting stuck to the spring I figured I'd check mine today.yep the ball was pushed into the end of the spring bit. back up to 16 at idle and the lowest I could get it to drop to wot was 13.5.What a mess what do you guys do to keep from losing alot of fuel. I clamped the hoses but it still was a diesel bath. Do they make some shut off valves to put in line with the big line hoses??Luke

The other day the wife picked my truck up from inspection and said it smelled like coolant. I never had any issues before so I looked for leaks. Found none. Took it out and it seemed to take forever to get to 190 but it smelled like coolant before it got there telling me it was warm. The temp. (scan gauge and factory gauge) would go as high as 204 and then all of a sudden drop to 188 in a matter of 20 sec or so and then climb back up and repeat. What gets me is the radiator cap is cold even after a 1/2 hour drive and the bottom hose is cold but the top is hot so the stat must be opening. I thought the stat might have failed 1/2 open which would explain the symptoms so I …

I've been trying to figure why I have what feels like a fuel starvation problem about 10 minutes after startup. Talked to Eric at Vulcan and he suggested that maybe a line was sucking air. I felt around up at where the lines attach to the fuel tank module and both lines would slide around on the nipples. This seems like it could be the problem as if there were a slight leak, as the truck sat for a while the fuel pickup line leaking would allow the fuel to lose vacuum and cause an air pocket, that after startup would work it's way up to the engine. You guys that have some experience with this stuff...Is this normal? How do those lines clamp to the nipples? Since I ca…

I really just want to see if it is just me or if others have the same luck. 3 years ago i smoked an airdog 150. Bad seal between motor and pump burned it up. 8 months thirteen days on that one. Replaced with a raptor 100. 123 days later, bad seal, smoked motor. Replaced with a raptor 150, Big lines from DSV to VP. A year and change later. Dead. Opened it up and I'm telling you, no magnets left. Just a big pile of soot and carbon inside. Replaced with a warrantied 150. Eight months to the day, same thing. Dead. Only this time, brushes as well. I rigged up a stocker with some fittings and hooked it to the biglines of the Raptors, plugged it into the raptor harness and …

Hi Guys, my truck started hesitating while driving it this morning. This happened a couple of weeks ago when I started driving when it was cold and the problem seemed to go away when warm, so I thought the Smarty was limiting fuel till the engine warmed up. This morning it hesitated (feels like fuel starvation) after it was warm, did it for about 10 minutes and then everything was fine. I just got home and pulled the codes from the Smarty and got 2; P0602 and P1693. In reading other posts here I get that the 0602 is a normal code because of the smarty changing the fuel map, and the 1693 is a companion code usually in conjunction with something else. So I have a circu…
