I read a while ago someone used a different valve stem seal to try and make them stay on the guide better or seal better can't quite remember which and who it was. Question 1. What is the valve stem size on a 24v Question 2. What is the guide diameter where the stem seal sits The reason for the 2 questions is I'm right now repairing a Perkins (POS) 4.4 RJ build in a JCB 416 loading shovel that the tip of number 3 injector dropped off, only the very tip below the injector holes so very small and luckily it imbedded straight away into the piston and did not go through a exhaust valve. This has been ongoing for about a month…

98.5 24v auto trans Back in Sept I was playing around and got on the truck pretty hard, oit of no where it fell on its face and check engine light came on. Turn the truck off an back on it high reved on start & high idle. Got codes for grid heater(always have it since I bought the truck), apps sensor & no bus code. No luck with the apps reset and after digging around i realized there was only 1 nut(which had backed off some) holding the vp on and it was some what loose. I replaced the apps With a cheap Amazon sensor to get me by and got new nuts for the pump. I did check the main pump nut an it was right an toqued to spec. After replacing the apps, I bled the…

I want to preface this by saying I have gone to all the local auto parts stores looking for a map sensor and had to order one. But last night, I was wondering what the best way to get the map sensor looks like it is too thin to get a socket into, and I couldn't finagle a wrench onto the head. Any help would be immensely appreciated.

I have been feeling the need to do a write up on this for sometime now. The more and more I learn about how tuners work for our trucks the more I feel like there is a serious amount of misinformation out there that REALLY needs to be corrected. What you guys pay your hard earned money for should return results beyond what some guy's distance friend thinks is awesome. This is not meant to explain the deep in's and outs, rather a rough idea of how things work and why some setups are good and others are not. First let me explain how our trucks work on a basic level when you push the pedal down. IE: How does the VP44 know when and how to fuel? Info taken from vp44 CAN …

First of all a big thanks to everyone. I have been lurking around and this forum has helped me a lot. I bought the truck recently so im not sure what all was done but it was built for compounds and they ran that some and it looks like they about caught the firewall on fire and went to the S300. I was told it has an upgraded pump. I don’t know. It’s green or blue I’m not sure if that helps. I have the tune dialed in for driving around and up to 5th gear. Pretty sure the map is good for what I have as I bumped everything up 2 and it was just straight smoke. I did try a big injector tune I found on there that started at 70, went…

So I was changing the tune in my 2000 when the smarty cable got disconnected. Now I keep getting "error comm time out" when it tries to restore it to stock tune. Is the ECM toasted?

I've had this truck for many years. Drove it 5 hours from Houston and use it on the farm only. Always had the no bus code. Starts, runs no issues at all. At first I looked into it. Speedometer also wouldn't read. I replaced the speed sensor and followed the wiring and connections back to the dash. Now speedometer displays 15mph when not moving.. It does move but never bothered to compare speed to actual. It does also have a parasitic drain on the batteries if left connected. Previously I had followed wiring and connections and no change to the no bus. No other lights or other issues known. If he batteries are week the it won't start and the 4wd l…

Well gang I finally had my hydrobooster failed and started leaking out the output shaft. So I ordered on Friday and Pirate Jack's rebuild kit and put extra on freight getting the kit here fast. So hang in there there's more videos and write up as an article. Also there will be a track bar install soon too I'll do a video of the diagnosing of it.

Has anyone ever measured the amp draw of a VP44? I have been having some weird issues with one I just bought, so I did some logging and what I'm seeing is that it pulls about .2amps when it is idling smooth, then it jumps up to between 12 and 18 amps and the engine starts to run rougher, then it drops back to .2 and smooths out again. I'm curious if that is normal or the sign of a bad pump. Luckily I have a Blue Chip VP44 that works great, and I'm building a brand new ultimate bullet proof engine, so if this one is bad its not the end of the world...

Just got my new Quadzilla installed today, should have done it some time ago. Just one thing I did not see mentioned in the instructions for the IQuad or anywhere else. On the IPhone you should change the wifi settings for the IQuad. It should be set to manual instead of automatic in the Configure IP setting Set the IP Address to (in my case) 1.2.3.14 the Subnet Mask to 255.255.255.0 and leave the router blank This will allow the Iphone to connect to the Quadzilla and maintain LTE connection for interrnet. Hey all, title says most but will go into more detail. sometimes on startup, the engine will start, then die for half a second and come back on. Like if you were to turn the key off while running and quickly turn it back on. This happens occasionally and then a few weeks ago, it would start and then die after a few seconds. It did this a few times before it was just cranking. Finally got it started and it ran fine. This has all occurred after my o Reilly vp pump replacement … and I’m definitely worried it’s the pump. Any insight is appreciated!

Several years ago when I changed my front diff fluid I was pretty sure I over filled and it vented some fluid and pretty much clogged the prefilter on my BAHF. Today while changing my ac compressor I could see that it has vented again. It has been near 4 years since I changed it. What would make it vent fluid now? I have a trail down the inner fender well.

Got a good story for you guys. Had a bad ecm that worked on the truck for a week or two, then intermittent no start. Put a loaner ecm and started right up, but had limited peddle as it was a fleet truck and derated. I used that for a few months, and then took it to a Cummins Workshop today to have it flashed back to factory settings. Now, the loaner wont fire, and my family had to drive 5 hours to get two different ones. Now, neither of those will fire also. I am completely confused as to what is going on or what the Cummins company could have did, and my truck is stuck at the Cummins shop. Thanks.

Proceed at you own risk, this is not something that is approved by anyone as a safe to use device. Parts that are used to make this are only that, parts and we're not designed for this kind of project. For those that don't want to spend thousands on expensive units and don't quite trust china special sold at many places, you can make your own out of bottle jack. I've also tossed the idea of buying hydraulic cylinder type pump made for body work. It already has a hose that would be easy to adapt to fittings or just adapt right at the pump as it's threaded. But since I had this 4ton jack for last 10 years not doing much I decided to use it. Keep in mind no…

I am creating this thread to help people get The driver installed on Windows 10 if they have never done it. I will not help outside of this thread so DO NOT PM me in regards to it. If you are feeling like this helped you please shoot over a donation to the site. It takes a ton of time and effort to keep something like this going. The Quadzilla Flasher program requires NetFrameWork 3.5 Ensure you download that and install it if you don't have it already. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21 *****For Windows 10 you must follow the Embedded PDF to a T. ******For Windows 8 the step 1 process will no…
