Drove the truck into work this morning and everything was perfectly normal. Left work at 5, it fired up even more quickly than usual, with just the tiniest bump of the key, and seemed to be idling fine. Backed out of the parking space fine, and it wasn't til I pulled out of the parking lot that I noticed it sounded off. And then it started chugging, forcing me to shift it into neutral and keep the revs around 1200 to keep it alive. I pulled into the nearest parking lot to see what I could see, thinking maybe one of the intercooler boots blew off or something, but they looked fine. I tried revving it with the throttle cable, and it builds revs pretty quick, and only as it …

My 99 3500 lost boost coming home the other day. No lights came on and after about 20 minutes it came back to life and ran great the rest of the way home. Now when I start it up and take off, it has no boost in the beginnning but will gradually build up to around 10-11lbs as the truck warms up. From there it's anybody's guess as to how it will act. Going from nothing to full power again. It starts great and has yet to throw a light. I just took it to our local Napa and had them plug it in to pull the codes and it showed nothing at all. Not even in the "Stored" side. I did try the APPS reset and that seemed to make no difference. It's showing 10-11lbs fuel pressure at idle…

I just replaced my injection pump and lift pump. I put a factory replacement raptor lift pump on. After bleeding all the lines the truck will start and run fine. Once you turn the truck off it will start and run for 5-10 second and shut off. After that it will not start back until you bleed the injectors again. Please help.

i have posted before about my 6 speed and it jumping out of 1st, rev, and 6th. today i was coming home and went to shift for m 4th to 5th and it stuck in 4th. it did shift into 5th but it took some effort to get it out. it now no longer will go into 4th. it pulls into the position but does not engage the gears. 3rd is clashing just a wee bit but working fine while in gear. it never made any noises just stuck ther in fourth until i forced it out. i am sure i have to either rebuild or replace the tranny. i have had a hard time finding any one who wants to work on that six speed. i know some of you out there have 6 speeds and i was hoping you have had some good experiance wi…

Hey all,I have had my oil filter head leaking for awhile all over the side of the block, so it is time to pull it off and replace the gaskets. I looked in the FSM for some guidance on what to do, but no luck. Is there anything special I need to be aware of besides draining the coolant? I bought 2 paper gaskets from cummins (the parts guy advised me that is all I should need). I figure the proper torque on the bolts should be 18ftlbs based on the size of the fasteners. Thanks,Chris

Has anyone ever replaced the bearing in the belt tensioner? is this something that can be replaced and if so who has the part number of the bearing? mine is starting to squeak and i figured that this would be the cheaper route rather than replacing the entire tensioner. thank you.

Sister graduated yesterday and somehow word is out that I know how to play with diesels and a guy hit me up with his 24V saying he wants to give it a tune up. This means set his valves (apparently has never been done, ever, after 160k miles) and check over some other things. I imagine being a 24V I should clean his map sensor and what else is there to check on those things? Now the thing is he went from 18 when new and has dwindled down to 12, I would think if his valves and sensors were off/dirty it would constitute the drop but what other things is there that would cause this? I don't think he has any codes or anything, just never had any maintenance done in it's li…

I got the quick connect w/ the big line kit. But it only goes to the filter. So from the filter to the VP44 is the stck line. Does anyone make a big line kit that goes the rest of the way. it doesn't have to be a quick connect. I have a standard cab & the connections were a pain in the neck to find a place to make work. Sort of looks rigged the way I have it. I'll see if I can post some pix!Thnx, Dave

I am wondering if there is anybody here with an exhaust brake on a 2nd gen with automatic tranny? Do they work good together? There are transmission controls available that lock the torque convertor while braking but do they only lock up in overdrive and drive, or in gears below that? I've been trying to cut through the clutter on everything that's available but not having much luck. Hopefully someone here can help me out. Also what's the best brand to be looking at? Thanks!

well this morning my check engine light came on so i cycled the key and came up with the P0122 and P01693 i know the 0122 code has to do with the TPS which would make sense as i was bugging moparman last night trying to trouble shoot my exhaust brake not working and started digging into the APPSi guess i could start by clearing the code and seeing if it comes back..correct? it may have thrown it when i was digging in the apps? or maybe i screwed something upalso.. mopar i forgot to mention maybe like 8 months ago i did have a dead pedal issue but i think it was a bad connection on my edge plug where it ties into the map sensor with the Y.this same time is also when it fir…

The guy who does the horseback rides from our vineyard has a Dodge 99 3500 dualie. His truck quit running the other day. The dealer said he had a 251 and 253 code. They replaced the VP ($1453), the intank module ($695), labor ($795), and misc. items for a total 0f $2995. He doesn't know anything about his truck. He pulls a 5 horse trailer all the time to our place. We have a very steep hill to get here. Anyways, I was telling him the importance of 14 psi minimum, and an after market fuel pump. He went back to the dealer and they told him that this was a new and improved pump! It only needed to put out 10 psi! They told him everything would be fine with this setup. Now he…
