I posted earlier about my pressure to my vp44 and miss quoted the pressure.I just went out and rechecked my guage. I guess I was in a haste and miss read my guage.Cranking I get : 10 psiIdle I get : 12 psiFull load I get: 7 psiI usually don't use my truck for anything except go to the store, or an ocasioanal hauling of manure or maybee some rocks for around the house.Mostly just very minor things in town.I want to get a guage with more span on it now the one i have is 0- 100 psi so it might even be a little better

Ok I have been reading posts on fuel temperature effecting the vp44.No one is saying what is a good temperature for the fuel! How hot is to hot?How cold is to cold?If the overflow valve is not allowing fuel to return to the tank then you are stuck with the temperature that is coming from the tank.If the overflow valve is open then the temperature is what is generated under the hood and from friction in the pump and injector pump!So would a inline cooler be a improvement? then if the air is to cold it seems like it would be a detrament and you would want a inline heater.Just some thoughts in my head and I would like to see other peoples thought on this

Really cool guyMan I found the best guy to buy ECM from, they are called ECM Outlet. This guy is nice and likes to talk, shoot the small talk with you .Your not just a check # with him.Cost shipped to Tx is 540.00 not dirt cheap but better than anyone I have found. Oh and five year warranty, everybody else is one year, even Cummins remanHe also said that if your P/N on ecm starts with 394 (like mine of course) they are hard to find. He also says that there are about 40 ecm's out there for our trucks 01 - 02. 1-248-565-8308Joe

I read a while back somewheres that there's a resister you can put in to allow for higher trans pressure from aftermarket valve body and torque. Does anyone know where I can get one and instructions for install? Thanks, Donald

Anybody know what this does specifically? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320569115318&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MESELX:IT

  6. I have a thread on another forum, and m1973m's posts there, led me 'here'.Basically, it boils down to this:On Key-on, I bump the starter. With a fuel pressure gauge on the system, the lift pump (prev. owner replaced the lift pump (with what appears to be an Airtex E7153 or replica), as well as added a [crap] Mr. Gasket #12D inline pump (rated at 5-7psi, 35gph) back by the tank. The LP kicks on, and the pressure slowly climbs from zero - ~19psi. Once the LP kicks off, the pressure immediately falls to ~5-6psi. If I sit anw watch it for a few seconds, it'll bleed off to zero PSI.If I repeat, and as soon as it hits 19psi on prime, if I start it, it will fall to zero in a…

  7. I bought a Frantz bypass filter a good while back but have not installed it in part due to really crappy weather and in large part due to my frustration with finding what I feel is an adequate and maintenance friendly location to mount the filter and run the oil lines. I have read the write-up and looked at the pics of Mike's install. I may end up doing it this way in the end but I wanted to get as many pictures of how the filter mounting installation is done before I make my decision. I want to keep it simple and drill as few holes and cut as little as possible and hopefully not at all. I would appreciate it if you guys who have the Frantz filter installed show me…

Well here it is, after the fourth ECM on my truck we tried a test ecm from cummins, and the surge that has been there for two years is gone. HEY But the miss is still there. Ok we put truck on a delete box and what that does is it bypasses the elec. in vp and bypasses the ecm, truck ran like a dream, could not belive it if I had not heard it with my own ears. So we still think there is something going on with ecm. We know for a fact it fixed the surge. Put old ecm back on and instant surge is back. Ok one thing I have learned is there are about 12 different ecms out there for a 01 so when someone tells you there all the same - there not, I found out the hard way.

Ok so most of us would agree that two cycle oil in the fuel for the vp44 is a good thing when mixed properly ....my question is can we mix other products in as well for other benefits like the powerservice products or Lucas oil or xdp?

I was crossing the Hudson River and noticed I was down to an 8th of a tank, I soon would be headed off the beaten track and had 2 choices to get fuel after I crossed the bridge. I have Citgo run by some Moolah Jihadists, or BP run by some 2nd and 3rd generation Arab Americans, so I picked BP. I fuelled up, then I went into pay, I asked how is business as BP now a days, he said we are going back to Mobil in 2 weeks if that answers your question. He said it is not our fault. I replied it was just a bad accident, nothing no one can do about it now, take care.

I just recetnly installed a new lift pump in my truck. I put in a FASS DDRP. My fuel pressure at idle with the stock fuel pump was about 13psi. After putting in the fass it jumped up to about 20psi at idle. My question is do I need to be concerned about the fuel pressure being this high? Will it damage the injection pump? Do I need to turn it down or just leave it where it is? I was just worried because I've heard some people say that high fuel pressure can damage the VP44.Thanks for any help or suggestions.Mike

a while back my truck went bezerck. surging, little or no throtle response, cruise control coutting on and off, temp gauge swinging wildly from 0 to max and the engine was surging while indeling and me standing beside the truck. i was already having some dead pedal issues and had puechased a new vp44 from blue chip diesel. thinking that might be causing the problem i installed the injector pump with no change. I had multiple high and low voltage codes on the iat, tps, temp and map sensors. also had codes on the cruise control, tach, system voltage. did some test on the tps and replaced no change, replaced the temp sensor no change, clock spring nochange, speedo(on board d…

  18. I own a 2002 ram 2500 6 speed with the HO cummins, 145k, recently i was pulling my equipment trailer and upon taking off from a stop sign had what felt to be a dead pedal/poor throttle response, taking 2x-3x as long to get up to around 2000rpm than it normally would. Slight bucking would occur but more of the issue is the slow throttle response. No matter where the pedal position is, there is no change in throttle response, its just a matter of slowly building rpms. Even though the throttle response is slow, the truck will get up to 3500rpm. I did have a garage do a diagnostic on it and they claimed fuel pressure from the lift pump was sufficient. There is no excess ex…
