  3. Says it all. It did it once a couple of years ago... then nothing. The only possible leak source is the clearance lights on the cab roof. I know NOT to climb on the cab roof, it'll oil can for sure. I could not reach standing on the door sill. I'm thinking of maybe a padded stepladder against the cab.???Russ

I need some help with a problem I am having. My check engine light has come on on my 01 3500, when I checked the oddy the error codes showed P1596 and 1693. I use the truck as a hotshot and pull some pretty good loads with the truck. I also noticed that my tach would go off and on, when it went off and zeroed out I lost 30%+ in power. As soon as my tach started working, power resumed to normal. I had a buddy of mine run his diagnostic tool on it, btw he's a retired diesel mech, and his equipment show "eng mod" but no error codes. Finally, I did take Michael advise and ran the oddy past the error codes to P-done. It went straight to mileage and showed no more codes. At thi…

I broke the plastic latch on my rear sliding window. I bought one of those plastic replacement kits from the auto supply store. It lasted about three weeks. So I went to Home Depot and bought a metal latch use for windows used in the home. They come in different types and sizes. I selected the small black metal latch type (see photo). As you see it fits the sliding truck window frame just fine. Even used a couple of Original drill holes for mounting. Where the part of the latch cups you have to bend it just a bit to catch the locking half. This fix works great and easy to use.

I figured these are worth they're own thread. I've just recently stumbled onto them. They're by fab series. I'll mainly post pictures and links between my spelling and phone auto correct pictures and links will explain best. I'm excited to call and get prices. Can build some super beefy steering with these offset links. http://www.fabseries.com/ Lots of stud tapers to choose from

Have a friend with a short in his tail light circuit. I isolated it to be forward of the connector near frame under drivers feet. Lots of wires there. Where do i find a schematic? The wire is a 14 ga black. I cut it prior to the connector. Spliced the wire going to the rear to a long lead and temporarily ran it to the left headlamp circuit breaker. Wire going forward has a dead short. Overhead council and dash lights are also dead.

This last week my steering has been slightly heavy after applying the brakes, checked the brake pedal and turn engine off and pedal is solid straight away Question is, are the accumulators available separately ?? as this would be a much cheaper alternative for me shipping wise, checked rockauto and only showing a complete unit I resealed the hydroboost a couple of years ago and it looked fine just worn out seals due to me using ATF DOH

Ok electrical is not my speciality, I have running and headlights. My back ups are out too. This phenomenon happined 2 months ago, lasted a day or so. I fiddled with the tilt on steering wheel and rached under dash and wiggled some wires went away. This time did the same thing, NO change! Now When I have a 6 pin trailer hooked up, I can accuate the break control and I have trailer Breaks and break lights on truck & trailer. HMMMM sound familer to anyone, hay Rogan chime in anytime... I know some of the culprits might be, fuses, flasher/ Turn Sig relay, Multifunctional switch, Emerg flasher switch... what do I add to the list to Ck this Wknd???? - - - Updated - - …

  14. I'm a pro welder Looking to extend my 2002 3500 dually from 60" (56"actual) to 84" so I can put a 10' morgan dry cargo van body on it.Frame questions: To do this I'll need extra frame rail material which I'm hoping to rape from another salvage frame. My question is this:Are the 2500 frames the same as the 3500 frames the same material thickness, bolt holes & dimensions etc? I already know length variables exist depending on quad cab short bed etc. Just wondering about all the mounting holes for the axle, & material thickness etc. Thanks

While removing my inner front fender cover I found two wire connectors [male and female] with many fine wires. they were attached to the lower rear of the drivers side wheel well and just inside of the outer fender and exposed when removing the inner fender cover. It just does not look like any electrical engineer would design a wire harness to just hang like this and not secured to anything for protection. Have any members found the same wiring on your Dodge/ Cummins. 1998.5, vp44 4x4 5 speed.

The leather on the front seat bottoms is starting to go bad and needs to be redone. Over the years I've heard about and seen some of the work out of upholstery shops in Tijuana for a third to half what it would cost here in the States . Tijuana is about 55 minutes south of me and my son goes down there from time to time so getting the seat bottoms there is no problem. Does anyone have any recommendations or experience with a shop there?

  17. So my OD hasn't worked in a while and I just had my transmission built a few months ago. Took it to the shop and they said this wire is the reason it's not working. Could this be it? It's a twisted pair wrapped. I haven't found any spot where it could connect to, and I've searched top to bottom. Any help would be appreciated

Is there anything that’ll clean up UV dye? I’ve sprayed engine degreaser, citrus degreaser, and brake cleaner under my hood. But the UV dye seems resilient.

My new Mustang has spoiled me with its heated seats but unfortunately I can’t drive it in the snow. I found this universal seat heater at work and decided to give it a try. It was pretty easy to install as the factory covers kind of snap on. I didn’t even remove the top cover, just opened the bottom and had enough room to slide it up inside. There was plenty of space on the switch panel for the new switch as well. It works great, I put it on high and it heats up quickly. I usually drop it down to low after a bit though. It costs about $70 and took less than an hour to install.

  20. Does anyone know where to get in-dash gauge clusters (or backings) that come in non-stock colors? For example: If you bought a set of Autometer Cobalt gauges for your pillar, and wanted to change the color of your speedo, tach, fuel level, engine temp, oil pressure, etc..., to a deep blue to match the Cobalts, how/where would you go to do it? I've looked a bit, but have found next to nothing except replacement stock dash panels. Sam
