So I ordered a steering box brace from Spohn Performance. It arrived a couple days later, and I will say, seems to be a pretty class A piece.Well, it won't fit. sorta. It's the right part, and is made properly. HOWEVER, I also run a plow in the winter. The truck-side bracketry (spreader bar, torque arms, etc.) are all kinds of interfering with the installation of the new bracket... I'll investigate more this evening, and see if I can slightly 'mod' something to gain the clearance I need..Otherwise, the new steering brace will be up for sale...

I 'thought' I had started a thread on Cab Lights before, but the search turned up nada.. At any rate, I installed clear lens/amber LED cab lights this past weekend. My truck did not have them from the factory, so I bought some EuroLite 9-LED ones for a Ford, from eBay for $70 delivered. I liked the Ford-style ones better, so that's what I went with. They arrived in a box, no instructions, no packaging, only an invoice, lights, and packing peanuts... Since my truck didn't have cab lights, I had to drill.. In a nutshell: [*]Drop headliner (phillips screws hold visors, pinch clips for overhead console, T20 for pass. side grab-handle, T20 for…

New member, new owner, first post. Picked up a '99 3500 quad yesterday. Been reading the owner's manual and it seems the truck may be equipped with the remote keyless entry system, but I have no transmitters. Reasons I believe the truck is equipped with the system is that the doors automatically locked shortly after pulling out of the parking lot, and the interior lights stay lit for aprox 30 seconds after the door is closed. The truck also has many other options like power windows, power seat with lumbar adj, overhead console with compass/trip computer, auto dimming mirror, etc., so RKE would seem like a logical option in this truck. I'd like to get a transmitter (or two…

I want to install the BHAF further onto the fender than typical. I like this heat slick heat shield. Furnace duct heat shield: http://www.directcon.net/drkayak/Ram/Heat%20Shield But further onto the fender. But then the OEM flexi intake tube will be too short & angled wrong. I found rubber eblows... but that would require 4 more clamps & 2 metal or plastic tubing pieces. I was wanting a clean install. Rubber elbows in all sizes: http://store.airflo.com/nextpage.html Nice Custom Metal extension elbow: http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-performance-parts-discussion/143145-bhaf-7.html but is not something I could do myself. http://www.amazon.co…

Hi, Dodge Manual states: 8Qts. to Lower Safe Mark 10 Qts. To Upper Safe Mark. Using ESN I looked up my Dip Stick number 3935648 and it jibes. It also showed 10Qts of oil. I change my oil as follows: I bring Engine to operating TEMP Pull it into shop with a Level Cement Floor at end of day. Place pan. Remove Drain Plug Let drain all night. The next day: I replace drain plug. Prime and Change Filter Replenish Oil. Problem/concern: I am only able to put just shy of 9.5 Qts in total, back into the Engine to bring it to the UPPER Safe Mark. Ive driven truck several miles, and it’s still at t…

So @KATOOM wants to know more about my mystery clunk. When unloaded I have a pretty nasty clunk/crash that can be felt in the floor. Steering doesn't seem to be effected though. It is directly related to when you unload the front suspesnion. From the drivers side it feels like it is coming from the passenger side, from the passenger side it doesn't feel as bad. Before we get into what I have replaced we need to look at the history of my truck, the PO must have broke the front axle as i have a 1994 d60 under the front rather than the 2000 that I was supposed to have on the truck, Things I have replace that made no diff…

Got a hot alternator like really hot, smelled it cooking. Looked at a few topic on here, started tracing wires. I previously rebuilt the whole harness-check all wires and re sheathed, tape, etc. My dumb a$$ forgot one wire the ground on the fuse box. Attached pic is what I missed. Is this wire straight to ground/frame? If it is I know which wire I need to use... Additionally could this mistake cause the hot alternator? Both alternator and batteries are old... alternator I assume to be original, batteries around 5-6 years. Batteries took trickle charge and started truck up fine. Thank you.

Hope this is helpful for y'all. For anyone that has an 00-02 Cummins with dual piston calipers up front and is in the market for front brakes, the 3rd gen brake upgrade is highly recommended. Everything is a direct bolt on. All you need is 03-07 caliper brackets, pads and rotors.. And if you have rear disc, you can do 3rd gen brakes in the rear too. The picture of the pad comparison isn’t my picture(forgot to take one), but shows you how much more surface area there is. And then the 3rd gen rotors are about an 1”+ bigger in diameter. This also requires 17”+ wheels. I went with the Stage 3 EBC Rotor and Pad kit which has drilled and slotted rotors and their Type 7000 Green…

Hey all, I noticed lately that either my ac is not as cold as it used to be, or I just hadn't ever used it when it was really hot (I normally use windows when my wife isn't with). Its still cool, just not ice cold. I have also noticed in the past that at idle my ac compressor will lock and unlock regularly. I was reading about ac issues now to try and see whats up and discovered that the locking and unlocking probably means my system is low on pressure. Now I'm looking for advice on how to deal with this. Should I try a do-it-yourself can from autozone? Ive been told in the past they are dangerous and not the correct way to service the system, but I've been reading a…

Started out just gonna clean out heater core etc then it turned into this. The entire cab is dismantled. Ha! Found some moisture issues, gonna clean up some wiring, put some new heat shield/noise damper in, blow out the dust, take out the whole hvac box and clean it, make some new door panels, redo my headliner, get seats cleaned etc. Any recommendations while I'm this far in? I honestly debated pulling the whole dash out and then building my own dash how I wanted it... if anyone wants to spark some interest in this I have a few ideas and pics. Door panels shouldn't be that hard to make, unless I just say screw it and buy some new on…

Hey gang, Okay a friend of mine just installed a set of used GS gauges I got in on a trade. He has the wires all hooked up and such, grounded to the battery and all. Well his fuel pressure gauge isn't working quite right. When he turns the key on, the other gauges sweep over and back down to zero. Well the FP sweeps up to 30 psi and stays there. Then when he starts the truck it drops to about 26ish psi, then once the truck starts, it goes up to about 33 psi which is the end of the gauge. My question is this: This there a way to test the sensor without just replacing it?? Fuel pressure doesn't drop with heavy throttle either and the truck doesn't appear to have any after…

Wacky Sudden out of control truck and camper on the freeway the other night, was a front hub bearing. It threw me into the fast lane, scared the hell out of me and finally got it off the road in a very squirrilly fashion . $340 towing bill and spent the night in Les Schwab for morning repairs. At least I had a place to sleep. I got repaired before noon and got home but the ABS lite is still on... pain. My question is has anyone figured out a way to lube those factory hub/ bearings? I heard they last an average of 100,000 but longer if you lube them by removing the ABS bolt and squirt grease down in there? They can be a pain getting them off too unless you lube…

To start with ive always hated the silver rockers, and this past winter pinch weld in the drivers door started to rust. I had planned on getting the rust stoped and having the rockers line x color matched to the red. ive got a quote of $1400. At that price line x is out of the question I've convinced my self that i would like the black rockers better than silver with rust spot in drivers door lol So has any one used any of the DIY bed-liners? How have they held up? what is your opinion on red trucks with black rockers?

I have some aftermarket POS on my truck now from the previous owner. I am looking to get a factory 6spd. shifter knob or a nice aftermarket one that doesn't feel like I am throwing around a piece of paper. Any ideas? The one I have is literally falling apart.

With temps above 20*F I have about 15-18 psi. When it gets colder out I have right at 11psi. The other day it to -2*F. The truck started and held at 11psi. About 5 mins later she started dropping psi and soon hit 1psi. The truck started to stall so I turned it off right away. So later that day after the temps got to about 15*F I started the truck and it held 11psi. I took it down the road and about 10 miles later it went up to 17psi and held. When I got home it jumped down to 11psi again. Any ideas? My airdog going bad?

I am doing a brake job, first one since owning the truck, and in order to get the rotors off the front, I need to remove the Caliper bracket correct? I was having difficulties getting those 12pt bolts loose and looked up their torque specs at 210 ft/lbs! Is that correct and does anyone have and tricks you used to get those bolts off? It feels like my socket is going to break. Thanks for the help.

Hey all, been quite a while since I been on, had alot going on. Stepped out of the Military-may go back in?, moved into a new house, jobs, kids etc you know. Had the truck LITERALLY completely torn apart: re-sealed engine minus head, completely rebuilt the NV5600 and transfercase, new clutch - which is making some very strange noises, sound deadened the whole cab, re-sealed the hvac box top to bottom, new heater core, evaporator, drier, headliner, wheels and tires; I mean the works! Ill have to maybe make a post with all the pictures? I don't know how to add that many pics though. If youd like to see it all give me a shout and how to do it and ill throw it up. …

Well I ran out of beer cans to keep up with this rust bucket so I believe it's time to address it before the whole thing rots away. Got some slip on rockers and cab corners on the way from eBay $210 shipped for both sides. I wanted to get all 3 back, inner, outer but for that kinda money I can almost buy a rust free cab and maybe I still will one day, buy a whole truck to rob parts off like @That Guy just did. Another option I had was to have a local metal shop bend me some rockers out of ss but when I shoed him what I was doing he said he tried it before for others with bad results and lots of wasted time, so my dreams and hopes went down poop tube when he told me that. …
