What’s going on here? First question, steering gear/ pitman arm. Should the teeth be showing? I’m guessing not. It’s torqued to 185f/lb.

On Monday I took my alternator into the local shop and he called me yesterday to tell me it was just worn out. He showed me this morning the brushes were virtually gone and the slip rings were worn down almost 1/8” (radius). Why I didn't take photos I don't know, other than I really needed to be on my way to work after just buying a new one from him. I asked him it he thought it could be the OEM unit, and he said almost certainly. Not bad life at 346k miles! I put the last +70k miles on it. SURELY at some point it was rebuilt, or maybe someone swapped in a unit from a salvage truck; the little plastic cover has the Chrysler symbol on it.

So im driving down the road with no heat and windows up. Its cool out but nice, all the sudden Im feeling air, I check the ac vents and air is blowing through them. I rotate the knobs to try and stop it and its constant air flow. What happen? I bought a new vacuum line 3 weeks ago, the line from the pump to the passenger side of dash. Its all of the sudden outside air blowing through the dash vents. This is really going to mess up the ac on a hot day.

Hey all. So, truck runs on one battery due to previous owner making their own compounds in the garage and putting them in and deleting the battery. I'm wanting to get 2 fresh batteries and do everything back the right way (and sadly may buy all new cables for 300). I'm wandering if anyone has a diagram that will show every ground and wire I need coming off the passenger side battery? Also, is there some sort of isolator or something that may be removed? If not removed but disconnected, where would it be? Any suggestions are appreciated so I can get this done correctly! Haven't had issues starting her in 25 * with no grid heater or plug but I want the truck done right and …

What should have been a 15 minute maintenance job has turned into hours of frustration. Leave it to me. Putting in new suspensionmaxx end links and figured I’d replace the 22 year old sway bar bushings while I was at it. Measured my sway bar, 34mm. Ok, go to parts store, figure even they can’t mess up non critical bushings too bad. They send me home with a set. Huge gap, 5mm, called the parts store they said it’s normal. I’ve never done a feasibility study on polyurethane, but I don’t think these are right, no way they’ll torque closed. Even online all I can find are 30, 32, and sometimes 33mm bushings for these trucks. I. Really don’t think it’s an aftermarket bar. Anyo…

Been doing a R/H/S rocker panel, step and wheel arch on a 04 Ford Transit van for a customer, started Friday morning and by 2.00pm ish I'd run out of MIG gas so off to get another gas cylinder, It's a bit tight on our drive at the moment due to small plant, trailers, 2 Rams, piles of logs etc and while reversing and turning hard to get out of our gates I just caught a wall, took a very quick look out of the side window and no scrapes on the wall so off I go. The gas supplier I use is about 6 miles away and after about a mile I heard something, I assumed it was the 2 gas cylinders in the bed which were ratcheted to my 5th wheel rails moving around so I pulled over onc…

It is very straightforward to change out the wiper motor and little gearbox. Comes all in one. You first need to to mark where the stop position is with tape on the windshield so you can line up the wiper in the correct stop/swing position when placing them back on the splinned spindle. The wiper swing arms/ linkage, motor all comes out in one assembly (4 bolts) so you can change out the trans and motor and lithium grease all the moving parts on the bench. Important note... If you run the wiper motor with the blades off the hubs to see if the lubrication has increased or improved the motor speed you MUST first run the motor to the full normal stop position Bef…

Is this a common leak due to a bad seal, or does it look like it’s not seated all the way? Never noticed it before, but had the transmission built 1,000 miles ago. Would the trans shop had messed with this? It’s not a massive leak but I can see where it’s spinning and throwing oil all around.

My battery post are on the verge of breaking and trying to avoid the expense of new cables. If you do a search for these it comes up with like three connections on each terminal. If someone wouldnt mind checking these out? I tried to get a pic to post but I'm not good at that at all.

Hey folks the lower power port in my truck works well, however, the cigarette lighter (upper). Will often take 10 seconds or so to power an accessory like a USB charger, and sometimes will go out for a minute. Any thoughts on theories on low/ intermittent power from the cigarette lighter?

This is my passenger side brake hose. I guess my question is, a.) anybody had this happen? Did I hit something? On full lock it’s rubbing a metal line. B.) what would you recommend I replace with?

Two weeks ago on my way home from work I noticed my heat was on defrost regardless of knob position. I also noticed CC was out as well as 4wd. The next day everything was back to normal. Today the wife and I went to lunch and no vacumn again, after lunch it's working fine. I rebuilt the pump 5-6 years ago and replaced the lines from the pump to along the fire wall last summer due to crumbling connections. What could be causing a random loss of vacumn like this? I already ordered a posi-lok cable system for the axle as I don't want to be caught with my pants down in the snow.

Here it is again haha. I know, I apologize. So, I am in a bit of a predicament. For a while I have known my steering needs to be fixed. I know that my gearbox has massive amounts of slop and I just replaced all my ball joints, tie rods and lastly drag link maybe a month ago. With that being said, I am starting to get whining and groaning from the pump as well as it getting hard to turn to the right. I know that my pump needs to be replaced (fluid is clean as a whistle and was replaced about 2 years ago and since we really havent driven but maybe 5k in it since. Since my power steering pump is on its way out I will replace it and since my steering box has slop and leaks, I…

Hey all, so I'm in need of more fuses for accessories and what not. The previous owner when hooking up the quadzilla used some type of pigtail add a fuse which had a small metal piece that was flat and then the other end went down around the pin on the #9 engine fuse. I'm wanting to do an actual add a fuse but I have 2 accessories already running off ignition hot sources in the fuse box and there isn't room for me to put the add a fuse on #9 for the quad. Geno's garage I believe used to sell a "painless" wiring fuse box for ignition hot sources but I can't seem to find it these days. I want to run the gauge cluster and air dog to the new block so I have room to do the cor…

Follow if you can… I have a Ramsey worm gear winch rated at max 280 amp draw Winch originally came with #4 awg cable Charts say #4 cable good for 100 amps at 9.4 feet I am installing Anderson power pole SB175 quick connectors to be used with the winch and homemade #1 awg jumper cables. (Passenger battery with connector by the grill at the bumper) Chart says #1 cable good to 200 amps SB175 good for 175 continuous amps according to Anderson. Largest size cable compatible with SB175 is 1/0…but charts say 1/0 good for 300 amps at 8 ft…this is well beyond the 175 amp rating. So I’v…

Came outside a few days ago and there was a 1/2 quart of ps fluid on the driveway (truck was idling). Ordered a brand new pump with reservoir from Napa and having a guy install it this week. Did I read something on here one time about a vacuum pump seal having to be replaced along with replacing the PS pump? Also, can’t say I fully I fully understand the hydroboost system, are there any considerations my mechanic should know while he’s doing this job? I’ll be keeping the old pump as a backup and rebuilding with a seal kit, just didn’t have time to fool with it right now so bought a new one. Any tips I can pass along to this old guy would be appreciated. Goal is to get ano…

When I bought my truck about 8 or 9 years ago the rear brakes had been over heated and would shudder when the rear drums got hot. I have replaced the shoes and drums once and had 3 different shops do rear brakes including drums , shoes, Ebrake cables hardware and had them check everything that go with it. The last time was in Oregon ( I live in Wi.) when I was in vacation in Oct. when they overheated on the way there and again they have self adjusted back to the point that they drag and the pedal has moved up to the top of the travel. I have 2 question. 1 Can anyone think what else to check. 2 What components do I have to remove to get rid of the self adjusting and jus…
