Consider this a good tech reference, I have found it really useful for some of the odder items that I have needed to find over the years for different projects and whatnot. Not really directly Cummins or Ram related, but great stuff anyway. Billavista is a wizard from Canada and RCAF officer who has spent the past 20 years or so posting this stuff on Pirate4x4. Now, he has his own site. Below are my favorite and most useful articles that you guys might like to peruse. When the guy says Bible, he means it. His articles are very very through and have lots of great pictures. Gear Setup Bible http://www.billavista.com/tech/Articles/Gear_Setup_Bible/ind…

1999 3500 2WD with 4 wheel ABS Got an ABS warning light (along with a brake warning light). Rear sensor was replaced by previous owner - no fix. Took to dealer to run the diagnostics, results point to a R/H front ABS wheel sensor. Before I order the part (OEM MSRP = $200), I was wondering if there was a method to check the sensor with a meter or something. Is it possible that the sensor is just dirty with brake dust, or do the connectors get corroded? I guess I could compare the ohms resistance reading from the rt front with the value taken from left front. Any other tips or tricks would be appreciated. Thanks, Joe in St Louis --- Update to the previo…

Just replaced my drivers seat foam with @Genos Garage durafoam. Wow what a difference! So much more comfortable. I sit a little higher now. More leg room. If yours is worn I highly recommend it!

I'm curious to know of the 4 wheel ABS system can be retrofitted onto a truck with a 2 Wheel ABS system. Anyone know if it's possible?

Hey guys, On my 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Diesel I installed the 2" Thuren coil springs and shocks. My truck now sits "front high." Based on the attached photo would you kindly assist me in determining if the rear block kit is lifted or is it the OEM standard height? I was told that my the rear suspension looks to be stock height as the 2nd gen trucks have factory 4 5/8” blocks. Can someone please confirm? If I want to balance my truck back off, what size blacks should I get?

Got in the truck the other day to go to town, and when I get to the end of the driveway the brake pedal goes straight to the floor, no resistance at all. Good thing I'm used to downshifting coming to a stop. Anyway, get the thing back home and the master cylinder's empty, and no sign of a leak anywhere. I had last driven it three weeks prior with no problems. Refilled master cylinder, worked the brakes, and refilled again, let sit. Checked two days later, refilled master, checked for evidence of leak and found nothing. As it sits right now, I've got about a quart of fluid into it, very spongy pedal, ( I know I have to bleed them) and still no evidence of a leak anywh…

I have an issue that appears mostly when cold but it is getting more frequent. If I hit the brakes even halfway fast the pedal will kickback at me and then go down. In really cold weather I can feel this action in the steering also which leads me to believe it may have something to do with the pump. I bought this truck a couple of years ago and the brakes have always had a lag on releasing. The light will stay on for a couple of seconds after releasing the pedal so I just wanted to get some opinions. I have the usual wander on the highway and I figure I am going to have to replace the box at some point but I do not think this is part of that issue. This is a TWO wheel dri…

Hopefully a quick question. Just got a mk345pc charger for my boat to charge deep cycle batteries. It's a minnkota 3 bank charger that charges and maintains. It has an option to equalize batteries and recommend every 30th charge on deep cycle battery. I called minnkota support and asked if I can use their charger on regular car/truck batteries and they said yes. This charger puts out 15 amps per bank. I guess my question is will it hurt to equalize my truck Batteries? Reason I'm asking is I checked voltage to my batteries and it was at 11.8 and the other day it was hard to start after sitting for a month. But after driving that day it was fine. They are 5 years old…

Hi all, thought my 5/8 hoses were leaking before my transmission cooler but it appears to be my cooler instead. What are my options as far as what is available? How difficult is it to change out? Can I bypass it for right now? It's hay season & I need my truck. Thanks,Dave

I have the manual but it is "woefully inadequate" in its description of how to remove the Cluster Bezel.Where do you pry, which way and what "tool" do you use to "gently pry" around the perimeter?Does the "band" that joins the cluster bezel to the dash come off or stay?Do you pry between the cluster bezel and the "band"?

Im trying to get some info on which is the best recommend coolant for my 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins 24Valve. Im going to change my water pump today and drain all the coolant, so i was wondering if there is another route to take verse buying the coolant at the dealership for 24.35 really not trying to go that route The parts man at dodge just told me as long at its the green i should be good. He said that the green all come from the same place just different labels on there. so if this is helpful everyone can now save a few bucks

Fired up the truck this morning to go to the tire shop for 4 new tires on the rear axle, got 1 mile down the road and the "check gauges" light lit up. Voltage low on instrument cluster. Thought maybe the 150amp breaker tripped in the charge lead. Nope, it was fine. Turned around and went back home. Pit a voltage meter to the stud on the back of the alternator and she read 12.8v. I guess it's time. Ugh!!! If it isn't one thing it's another!

hey guys and gals: Currently having an issue with my ABS/Brake light popping on then staying on- doesnt happen 100% of the time but a majority of driving time they are both on! I have replaced the rear axle speed sensor as well as the transmission sensor. The speedo needle will bounce very erratically and the brake pedal will sometime fall while sitting at a stop. I am thinking i have a booster problem or a proportioning valve issue. the left front tire will sometimes lock up hard under medium brake application. All the brakes lock up fairly easily on wet roads though. I have done full brake jobs with new wheel cylinders in the rear and …

Hello as the title states my tach will not read past 2000-2200 RPMs. It seems like it ready correctly while cruising and idle but stops right around 2-2.2k. I went ahead and gave it full throttle with my quad logging at it shows it actually going to ~3200RPM with the audio sound of it hitting the limiter. Is my gauge cluster just bad or am I looking at something more in-depth? In my long quest of fixing this truck i'll be replacing the VP and injectors in the upcoming week and want to ensure I don't have a ECM/PCM issue possibly. I've considered removing them and having them sent off for testing but I'm not getting any check engine lights or codes that i'm aw…
