Here's what I have, ambient temps have drop pretty good around here. From 108 to 94 today, a pretty good drop, enough to lower egt's? Probably not. I adjusted valves Sunday from 10 - 20 to 8 - 18. Here's the kicker, my egt's have droped overall 150*. My weight is 11k so I am used to seeing high egt's as a norm. I am driving a usuall route when I notice my gauge is lower than normal, I think its stuck so I give it the gas it goes up and I think this is strange. I am thinking this is big news, so I call Mike, he's like yea yea man I like your new found temps but I got to go, can I call you later Kicked to the curb! Just kidding Mike no biggie. I noticed the turbo spools fa…

After much back and forth arguing i decided to do a full build, my new job assignment more or less requires a truck that is 4wd capable, reliable and gets great MPG.and as such my 99 is well suited minus the missing trans. The problem is the job is in Philly, which is nothing but traffic, mostly going home that is, i'll sit in traffic for the first hour of my drive, once i get out of the construction zone im all good and its highway speeds from there. After a failed attempt at a shift kit install, i sent the kit back to DTt with my VB, where they have been sitting for a few months.I decided to just get a built transmission, i decided on DTT since they already have the shift…

In the quest for more power, Current plan is try to find a s480, not much luck, Thoughts of a supercharger always take top honors, even if just casue it looks cool. On the other forum with the superchargers, a previous setup he ran was triple turbos. Basically splitting primary turbo in half. More or less. What about using one of those 351 variable turbos parallel with my turbo. The vgt should spool quick get it going and then the bigger turbo will catch up, then the combined turbos would equal a big single that wouldnt normally be able to be streetable in a DD. Some high end cars have sequential turbos, but I am not sure if the other takes over completely or if they run …

I have hauled some heavy loads over the last hay season and I think my miss guidence from other people have swayed my beter judgement on EGT. Loaded or unloaded I dont exceed 1200*. I had 2 1600* mishaps unloded. I know that people will say that 1500* for a few seconds is ok and others say don't go over 1000 hauling heavy loads. What I would like to know is 3 figures..Unloaded sustained temp*Unloaded Max few second bursts*Sustained loaded temp*I wont hold you to the temp but I am curious on what people are running. This is all pre-turbo readings.

ETA: Update in later posts. Edge not most likely culprit! ---Rant part.Well, Guys, I need to vent. And if you have any suggestions, I am interested, because as soon as they will cut me a check for their un-fixable product, I am going to go with something else. I have had it with Edge Products Juice CTS. I have had this chip for 6 months and it has never actually worked, its been through (from Edge) three Juice Modules, two CTS modules, a new wiring harness (complete) and its been RMA'ed back to edge once for them to work on it. They said that they found an issue with it, and that it should work and sent it back to me. It got back without the pressure transducer that …

Hi guys, I've been lurking and learning on many forums. I got my truck back in August of '10, but I've learned slowly along the way. I love the truck and know there are things I'm needing to do to it, but I got hurt and sadly it took a back seat to so many things and then other stuff came up. I'm trying to catch up. I've got a leak inside that I noticed. There is a streak on the rear glass where it runs down. There is a little brown staining on the headliner on the passenger side. I don't know if there is a possible seam breach just back of the door on the roof, or if (in my opinion more likely) the cargo light that is on the back of the cab is leaking. If …

Question - does the chip matter when deciding between 100 and 150gph lift pumps? - If so, is it possible to figure out which chip/hp rating is installed? I took ownership of my truck in 2007, it belonged to my ex since 2005. He put a non-adjustable chip in the truck while we dated and shame on me for not remembering which one it was... I desparately need a new lift pump and afraid to buy the wrong one!

Any one ever use one of these if so whats your opinions ? Torque Converter Lock-UP The TS Performance Torque Converter Lock-UP allows you to lock and un-lock your torque converter at the speed of your choice. Most factory converters lock up at high speeds, and un-lock when off the throttle. This can cause increased temperatures due to friction between the converter and flywheel. It will also inhibit vehicle performance and fuel economy lock at high speeds. The converter can work in conjunction with an exhaust brake to help slow the engine speeds instead of relying completely on the brakes to slow the truck. By programming the conv…

The latest edition of Diesel Power Mag has an article on methonal/water injection. It focuses on improving emissions but also implies power improvements, lower egt's and better fuel economy. But as with other technical articles they give very little to no actual quantifiable data. Sometimes some graphs and pictures but it would be difficult for you to justify the install based on what info they provide. I am not looking for power increases or lower egt's as I am happy with my truck for how I use it, but I would like to pick up some additional economy improvement. "Snow Performance" advertises 6-12% better fuel economy on their "Tow-Max". There are 3 or 4 major manufact…

I recently tried to change my power level on my comp box and nothing would happen. If I disconnect all my connections, but leave the power going to the box I can change the levels. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I keep debating on whether or not I want to potentially screw up a good thing by installing some injectors to help with towing a little and possibly gain a mile or two. I have no intentions of anything over 75 hp sticks and I was even thinking of keeping it simple with some RV275's. But this isn't a "which injector is best" thread. What I'm wondering is how much HP has anyone put on the OEM 5 speed clutch before it started to slip? I dont really want or have money to justify purchasing a new clutch. So for this reason I have done nothing but if I could get away with some RV275's and keep from changing the clutch then that might work for me.

Heydumb question - but curious on ideasOne of the bolts at back of my transfercase is leaking more ATF. Its one of the black hex bolts that holds the tail housing (where rear drive shaft goes into) to the main part of the TC. So what are easy fixes options ?? Was thinking1) New bolt ....... *shrug* might provide a better seal2) Some gasket maker ?? But thinking most will come out when I torque it down ? 3) Some thread tape ?? Seems to be a good seal elsewhere with no leaks .......

I got my DSV and the grommet ripped on the DSII while dropping the tank. I emailed Vulcan for info as well but what would be a good way to seal the hole up? Its roughly 1 3/8 diameter. Obviously it needs to be diesel compatible. I am thinking I could use it as a hole to refill the tank from my bed mounted aux tank, which currently uses the vent tube.
