  1. Can someone please tell me what transmission I have? Trying to troubleshoot why I don't have overdrive. And well... Sure help to know. All I know is that it's not the original transmission AND the previous owner (for whatever reason) put in a resistor (1kohm) between (looks like) the temperature wire and a ground. Below are the numbers I found on the transmission. And thanks in advance for y'alls help. (First time forum post). Number above pan, driver side. PK52118320 2016 3230 Number by gear box, passenger side. 283-2 Pic of pan

I had my truck parked for 7 days under the covered shelter. Havent started or drove it in a week. Been Raining for a week and off work. Saw a little wet spot stain on the concrete inside the driver front wheel. Turns out the power steering pump leaked a little out the cap like it was over filled but it hasnt been. Started the truck and backed straight back and then noticed no power steering and no power brakes. Stopped got out , checked the reservoir and had oil in it and as the truck idled for a few minutes I could see the oil inside the pump start flowing and pump working. Got back in the truck and the power steering and brakes were working fine…

I haven’t had a chance to look yet but my 98 12v should have two wires connecting to the tach pickup at the balancer. I need to tap into the wire with no voltage but I want to tap into it up on the fire wall. I’m horrible with wiring and color blind so can someone point me to which wire and it’s location, I need to tap into?

  5. Hey guys, so my truck will go into o/d when the temps are cool. I’m refraining from saying “cold” because it doesn’t ever get cold where I am. Relative to most of the world. Haha once my trans temp gets up around 100 deg F my pcm doesn’t send the ground signal to engage o/d. It will hold as long as I’m in it, but once disengaged it will not re engage as long as trans temps are above 100 deg. I checked the resistance that the temp sensor is sending to the pcm and it is accurate, as long as the key is off or the pcm is unplugged. As soon as I plug it in or turn the key on I lose about 400ohms resistance. Idk why. Plz help. I got a reman pcm f…

  6. I have a 2000 24 valve with a p7100 pump and I've been investigating a fuel knock that I've had since I've had the truck. I've replaced the injectors so my next step is the injection pump. I'm looking for the best/cheapest ways to test the pump without removing or taking it to a shop. Thanks.

Sometimes my oe oil pressure gauge drops to zero and I get a ding with a light. This usually only happens when I’m at a lower idle situation while pulling forward and the idle gets low or reversing into a parking spot and idle gets low (idle is set at 815). It’s only happened a handful of times until one day last week when we had a 75 degree day and then it was dinging every few minutes during slow driving or idling. When I bought this truck, a little over a year ago, original owner told me about this and had a new oil switch in the door but I put a new mopar switch in it anyway. Mechanical oil gauge I have shows 23 psi or so while the gauge in the dash drops to zero. Do …

Hi guys, I bought a broken truck! Now Im also fairly good at testing electrical components which is the only reason I laid down 3800 bucks on a 241k mile Truck. Oh and Diesels sound sexy :D and will pull my future projects easily. So I didn't have much time to figure out the issue on it. But the symptoms are, No tach, no speedometer, no lights(wait to start, check engine ect) and the trans was said to be in 2nd, topping out at 30 to 35. And also the coolant temp was not working (but I think that is on a different line electrical circuit, will confirm). Im going to buy a new coolant sensor just in case that one is bad, because I thought it was a direct connecti…

12 valve dually That's a little rough but in really nice shape with 123,000 mi on it. It needs a new cab front fenders and fuel tank straps. I'm just trying to figure out what the value of the truck would be roughly and how much I should pay.

  12. So we acquired a 97 Auto at the beginning of this month and it's got a couple problems, one of which is it has absolutely no cluster. The good ole Okie that owned it before me had a BD Torq Shift box (or something to that effect) on it that started messing up, so he started cutting wires to cut it out and it completely killed all the lights on the dash. So if anyone knows which wires are responsible and can point me in the right direction it'd be much appreciated! I'd look through a 97 wiring diagram if I could find one, but the BD box doesn't give pin-outs or anything, just wire colors and doesn't even tell me where the torque converter wire is either, just t…

I have an annoying issue with my 98. It over fuels bad at a certain tiny spot in the throttle but only on takeoff. Truck is a 5 speed with 215 pump with a home cut 100 plate. I have the plate slid halfway forward and if I back the smoke screw out anymore it will fall off. The star wheel has been adjusted slightly and the housing itself is about centered. Truck runs really clean up top and down low, except for this small spot in the throttle on take off. I usually ease into the throttle and miss the spot but once or twice a week ill accidentally find it and it belches thick black smoke. I have a needle valve at the afc on the boost reference line. I also have PDD Bosch 5x.…

Recently given a 1996 Ram 2500 12 valve 2wd automatic. Its got a few problems with it: Its in limp mode. 3rd only unless you manually shift. No tach. No speedo. No wait to start indicator. I assume no grid heaters are working because the truck doesnt feel like its cycling them when its cold enough for it. Voltage runs a bit high. Like 15-16.5 volts and it fluctuates in that range. Lights follow voltage fluctuations. It has an external voltage regulator so at some point it has had PCM related charging issues. No MIL. OBD ii doesnt want to work but it may be directly related to the fact that my scan tool is a 25 dollar special from a local autoparts place. Onc…

Hi. First post, though ive been lurking a while. Im trying to get my hands on a pdf copy of the powertrain diagnostics manual for a 96 2nd gen 12 valver. I am trying to avoid the 100 dollar cost involved in purchasing a used manual if at all possible. I have a pretty limited budget. thanks, and if this isn't the proper forum or way to all about them please let me know and I'll edit/remove this post.

So recently I have been having issues with my 01 not cranking. Normally if I "jumped the starter" using the brown wire she would fire right up. However things have changed. Now when I turn the key to on I get a check gauges light, and the dash show 8-10V. I tested my battery voltage and both batteries show around 12.7V. Then if I can get her to start she shuts off after less than a minute. Any ideas on what it could be? Update: The radio also states that I have 10.7V. Could it be the battries?

guys my engine is a 1994, i hadn't really paid much attention to the dipstick until i was looking at my 97 parts tuck this am. the dipstick in my 1994 is part #3926194. it has a 1" rubber hose extending the dipstick tube an extra inch. my 97 dipstick #3923128 slides over the stock tube and creates a tight seal, the 94 kind of just butt's up against the rubber hose... not the best setup in my eyes. side by side comparison the 97 stick is about an inch longer, which might make sense as to why my 94 has a 1" rubber extension there to space it out? the safe zone on the 97 is also about double the length. it was showing full or just a hair under full on the 94, its showing a …
