So just started to have this issue. Drove to the grocery store the other day and the truck acted normal. Finished shopping and started driving and the truck would shift into OD. Stayed in 3rd. Pushed the OD button and it didn’t light up to indicate off. Drove it home, cleaned the battery terminals “saw a YouTube video about that” started the truck and the button worked. Shifted through all gears, checked the fluid all was normal. Drove it to work this morning, shifted fine. Next little trip I took about an hour later same little issue came back. 1. Where should I start troubleshooting? 2. Is it ok to drive to and from work like this? Thanks for the help! 1996 12valv…

I'm building two 47RH transmissions and I need converters for them. But, I don't know which brand of converter to go with. Has anyone had experience with or know anyone who has had experience with PATC transmission converters? https://transmissioncenter.net/shop/8dxx-with-steel-stator-option/ They have a buy one, get one for half off special they have been running. A triple disc, billet cover, aluminum stator would be $1,000 each. Or I could go with Goerend for $1,050. Ultimate transmission has a triple disc for $1,200. A local small business by the name of Torque Converter Works also has a triple for $1,200. Torque converter Works uses a Sonnax stator, p…

I got spoiled on my 50's resto...parts books had really good visuals and exploded views of parts. I bought the parts books for the 94, but so far I haven't found what I'm looking for: Since I'm converting from auto to manual, I'd like a nice few pics of the trans rear mounting set up. Thanks in advance.

Afternoon .. this might not exactly be protocol … I am in the middle of prepping for a trip pulling a trailer with my truck .. I have owned it for a few months and have been slowly working through the issues created by the previous owner … my latest upgrade was a new tps because of a random lock /unlock converter issue .. That issue is fixed I think … what it does now is something I can recreate consistently and it may be nature of the beast so to speak … for all intents and purposes it shifts firmly through all gears .. the lockup is what I would consider slightly slow but I don't have another auto dodge to compare it to and all the other dodges I have access to are manu…

Hi there. I have Chrysler 47RE automatic transmission that comes out of a Dodge Ram 2nd generation with a Cummins 5.9L diesel 12 valve engine and I want to use it in a hotrod in a standalone configuration. Can you please assist me with how to power up the transmission control module? I have the transmission control module and the wiring harness. Can anyone please help me with the pin connections or a wiring diagram?

My grandparents used to take me to Colorado every summer when I was little so when they told me they were going back I was excited. They left Saturday morning and I left Sunday morning in the 98 12v. Other than a ball joint fiasco, I haven’t had any problems out of this truck and after I put a heater core in a few weeks ago, I thought it was road ready. My scan gauge was acting up halfway through my 13 hour trip but I didn’t think that was much of a problem. I get about two hours from camp and stop for fuel and there is a miss that has never been there before. Egt’s have been running hotter than usual since I got up in the high altitude and it didn’t have as much power as…

Maybe this is the best place to post this?Theres a cummins big engine guru here that i cant remember his name. I'm trying to get more breaking from the big cummins. I'm dropping solenoids or butterflies at 1800-1500 rpm. I've rewired so all solenoids come on all the time the 3 way switch is gone but still losing engine braking at high rpm. 365 has no trouble idling with switch on sounds like only one solenoid is on. At and idle I flip the switch motor just about dies then powers through and idle at about 700rpm chugging right through the brake. I'm not entirely sure how the system even works. Thank for any help.

I have never had a stock truck with gauges but I just put this cheap digital egt gaug/probe in and it seems like temps should be higher than they are. https://www.amazon.com/Digital-Gauge-Alarm-Outputs-Sensors/dp/B01N6V9RZR/ref=pd_ybh_a_61?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=X4R7KMR9CE7QKT1P3PSB First start idle was about 165* after a minute or so and then I stomped on it after I got the coolant up to temp and it took nearly a full throttle run to 70 to get up to 800*. The only mods to engine are stock plate slid forward and star wheel turned a few clicks. Ive slid the afc housing forward but backed the smoke screw out so smoke is at a minimum without the truck …

Does anybody know what obd2 protocol a 1996 dodge ram 12 valve has. Looking to get a modern scan tool that will read my transmission solinoid voltage and pressures. I contacted Foxwel scan tools and said if it is ccd protocol compliant it will read. If I have this info its much easier to shop for a scan tool that will retrieve the most data from my 47re transmission. Thanks ahead for any info.

I have always bought complete injectors in the past but I like to tinker and meddle where I shouldnt so I would like to buy nozzles and set pop pressure myself. Its been a few years since I had injectors apart but I wondering about the size of the shims to set different pop pressures. I used to ride motocross a little and rebuilt my 4 stroke myself and have a box or two of the shims for setting valves and am curious if they are the same size, without tearing into my truck. Pop testers can be had fairly in expensively and id like to get one so I could play with pop pressures on this old 2 valver like I hear some of yall with 4 valve motors do.

These pictures reflect My "project" as I bought it. As you can see it has a 440/727 engine/transmission combination. In addition it is on a 1978 Dodge M300 MH chassis with 17.5 inch wheels. My intent on buying this was to restore it as a "truck", I'm not into the "slamming school", though I respect the right of others to pursue their vision; there are just too few of these particular trucks to deny them there place in history. Having said that, I always do what I call a performance upgrade to most of my projects; in this case I have opted to replace the 440/727 with a 1996 5.9BT low miles diesel and a 47re transmission. Following submissions will include the "teardow…

I have been having lockup problems I've tried everything to fix it new tps. Temp senor. battery reminals. And tcc/od noid and still coming out of lock up under light acceleration even with the lock up switch on. So today I tested the middle wire on the trans and have 12.24volts with key on and as soon as I start the truck it jumps up to 13.60 or so then driving down the road with multimeter in cab it jumps up even higher under acceleration when it comes out of lock up to about 14 volts. So I'm wondering if this would cause it to come out of lock up. If I go really easy into the throttle she will stay locked. Idk what else to try I'm about sick of messing with it any help …

Output shaft seal is leaking in the 98. It doesnt leave a drop in the drive but the underside of the cab is wet and the weep hole is wet. There is a little bit of play when I grab the output shaft, is this normal? I see there is an output bearing and pilot bearing. I dont want to replace the seal only to have to replace the bearing and seal soon after. Anybody with a with a 241 DLD wanna grab the output and see if its got a little wiggle?

Hey, this is my daughter's truck, '98 12 valve. Her fiancee was using it to pull a skid steer on a trailer and had to go through a soft spot in a driveway. He said he stopped and put it in 4wd (don't know if hi or low) and proceeded to go easy through the soft spot (or so he thought!)....... When the trailer was in the soft spot he said it almost ran out of power and almost stalled. He stopped, unloaded the skid steer and drove out. That is when he said there was no reverse. All he had was forward no matter where the shifter was even in park. Sometimes he said he could 'find' neutral, but reverse was forward and backward fighting each other. It doesn't seem to be a linkag…

So I’m looking to do a motor and body swap. I have a 1994 12 valve manual that’s burning oil and a rusty body. I also have a 12 valve that came outta a 1997 that had a auto transmission behind it but has a week injection pump (I’m told). So I’m putting different body on the 94 and want to put the 97 motor in the 94 frame and body. Can I put the injection pump from the 94 motor on the 97 motor with no isssues and was wanting to add a fuel plate to it give it a little more hp, should I be changing the timeing also? And was gonna go with a LuK clutch that can handle 400 hp and 1000 ft. Any input? Thanks !

Just enjoying the first time off I've had in a while and was browsing YouTube. I came across a video and it made me think of all the vehicles I built that crossed the line into poor reliability and poor drivability. I laughed my butt off at how much crack he had to spray into the turbo to get it started on a "chilly" 60° day.
