I read the post from Mopar1973man about the alternator causing the tranny to lock and unlock. Does this cause the TPS to cause the locking and unlocking. I checked the volts at the battery with the truck running and it was 14.86 on both batteries. When I switched to AC the passenger side battery varied between 10.35 and 11.50, the drivers side battery varied between 11.35 and occasionally jumped to 15. Would this be enough to cause the TPS to lock and unlock. Bob

I had my truck tuned pretty good with the stock injectors and would only lightly haze at WOT. Now that I've added 5x.012 injectors I smoke like a freight train from 1/2 throttle on up with the stock HX35. My question is how much smoke can I expect to tune out without loosing too much performance? Is it just going to be smokey until I upgrade the turbo or should I be able to clean it up pretty good?

A couple years ago I had a slight head gasket leak by the thermostat housing and ended up over torquing the head bolts by 5 or 10 ft lbs to stop it. Not exactly a smart move I know but was in a bind, 3 hours from home, and trying to leave a location. A lot of things have happened since then and I smooth forgot that I ever did that until I noticed a water leak today. It's leaking from the exact same spot as before so I see a new head gasket in my future. Now I've read a buch of different things about the cause of a leaking HG including a cracked or warped head, both of which would suck. With 300k miles on the truck how likely is it to be something…

Hello, I was wondering if I could get some input from everyone. I have the opportunity to trade a 2004 Miller Bobcat 225 Welding machine for a 1995 4x4 2500 Reg Cab Auto....the truck has 412,XXX miles and the front suspension was rebuilt about 10k miles ago. Now there is an issue with the trans, but I believe it to be the governor in the tail shaft of the trans, it has first gear and reverse. The truck runs and has been sitting for a little over a year, the paint is faded and there are a few dings on the body but not much. Oh, and the tail gate is missing. The back right window on the sliding glass is broken and the front main seal is leaking on the engine. With the …

Hello to all. I am new to the site. I was looking on the web for a issue I have and came across this site. There's a lot of knowledge here and hopefully it will help me out and learn me some stuff. I have a 96 ram3500 5.9 cummins. I replaced the front cover gasket, had injector pump rebuilt. I rebuilt the transmission. I got her all back togather and runs great. Except my altenators not charging and I have no power to transmission. When I check with a volt meter at the 2 small wires on altenator they get 12.6 volts when keys turned on and within 2-3 seconds it counts voltage down to like 0.6 and stays there. Never changes running or not only as soon as keys on for couple …

I currently own a 99 24 valve 4-door, it is being sold to my younger brother because it is a 5 speed and uncomfortable for me to drive. I had no intention of replacing it now but to wait and look for another 24 valve automatic.A young man who owns a A/C and automotive repair shop did some work for me and I explained what I was doing. He brought in a 97 which automatic, it needs paint but not too bad condition inside or out. 229,000 miles and was used for hauling a 40 ft toy hauler all over the country from coast to coast. The owner owns a transmission shop and at one time was big into racing. This 12 valve is quite compared to my 24 valve. The 12 valve also drives great, …

Hello everyone, I hope someone here can help me out. I have a 94 Ram 2500 2x4 NV4500 that I what to swap transmissions with my 01 Ram 2500. So I am looking for the pinouts for the 94 and a 96,97 or early 98. The 94 pcm will give me the Pin outs for a 12 valve and the 47rh and the 96,97, early 98 will give me the pinouts for a 12 valve with the 47re. I want to do this swap because I prefer to tow with a manual and the 94 is in the process of having the body from a 78 Ramcharger put on it and I prefer to race with an auto. Any inputs? Thanks Brian

Ok, I have a 96 dodge 12v in a 1956 ford truck . No computer, and I was planning on hooking up a computer in it to run the transmission. I have the dreaded 47re . So my question is how do I power up the computer system and what wiring do I have to hook up to make it work? Any help would be great thanks in advance.

I noticed my lift pump is leaking around the primer boot and was wondering if this can be repaired? The boot isnt torn and the pump itself is only about 4 years old. Am I correct to assume that this leak is letting air in the system?

I was doing some electrical work under the hood today when I realized just how ratty my wiring looks. Loose wires floating around, electrical tape peeling off, plastic loom cracking and breaking, just a mess of problems waiting to happen. I didn't want to wrap it all up in regular electrical tape, which will end up peeling off and making a mess, so I started looking for actual wiring harness tape. During my search I came across this company http://www.tesatape.com/industry/automotive/electrical_systems/wire_harnessing-abrasion_protection. I was a tech at a John Deere construction equipment dealer for awhile and I'm almost positive this is the same tape that was used …

Used 4 wheel drive recently on snowy roads. The 4x4 light did not shine or was late in shutting off at different times. Any ideas? The 4 wheel drive was operating properly. Just a light issue.

My wastegate actuator quit working so I ordered up another one on Ebay. With the turbo off the truck I've been playing around with the rod adjustment. So far I've managed to stave off boost creep until 25psi whIle still fully opening the wastegate at 33-34 psi. This is without a boost elbow. Can anyone think of an issue with adjusting the rod this way? I wouldn't think there would be an issue as long as the wastegate fully opens at the desired psi.

From around 1700rpm on up there is a slight popping/sputtering sound while accelerating from 1/2 throttle on up and it gets worse with a load. The first thing I did was install a fuel pressure gauge to help diagnose/ eliminate possible causes. The results are as follows: Idle: 22psi2500 RPM (no load): 38psiPressure never drops below 20psi while doing a WOT run. This is the truck's current setup:*100 plate and AFC full forward. *Stock injectors that were cleaned, pop tested, and shimmed a couple years ago. *1st Gen air filter (was on the truck when I bought it, been meaning to do a BHAF). *Stock HX35 in good working order, minor amount of play and zero contact w…

Regardless of throttle position my 1-2 shifts happen at 5 mph or less. Sometimes it will start in 2nd, drop to 1st, then immediately shift back to 2nd. I've adjusted the TV cable to no effect. Manually shifting the trans results in perfect operation. The trans was rebuilt by a local shop who screwed me over pretty good so I'm not exactly sure what's actually been done to it. The VB should have a DTT shift kit still in it, which I had installed about a year before the rebuild. My 1-2 shifts have always been the way I described, even before the shift kit and remained the same after the rebuild. During the build all of the electronics in the VB were supposed to be replaced b…

First, thanks for the help and hand-holding through my oil cooler failure - no more oil in the coolant, and oil analysis shows no coolant in the oil. Still have a minor coolant leak - I think I have it localized to the thermostat seal rings but not sure. Could be head gasket but no indication of gas in the cooling system - it is an external leak, whatever. Did y'all know that antifreeze fluoresces in black light all by itself, without any fluorescent dye added? Weird. Anyway, temperature gauge was acting like the thermostat was stuck open - taking forever to even budge off the peg and never really getting up to temp, so I took changed the thermostat out. …
