I ran acroos this post that pretty much describes a problem I've been having for some time now.

First post that clearly explains why miss in idle when warm and why ac on it goes away. Any rpm above idle runs fine.

One other question. When this happens is ac off idle is missing or ruff, if I turn the engine off then re-start ruff idle miss is gone why??????

From all the reading I've done on injectors seems the one's called rv275 seem very popular and majorty say they work very good.

Anyone have any other thoughts comments on replacment injectors?

Is it good idea to replace the connect tubes or just a new O ring k?

Thanks in advance

Injectors are wore out. As you add more load the VP44 increases pressure slightly to the injectors and the pop off spray is better. Where with everything off the injector start to miss because the nozzle is more pissy and not popping correctly. I would highly suggest you pull the injectors and have them pop tested.

I still have my oe crossover tubes and just replaced the o rings. As hard as that steel is I am not sure you could wear them out. I chucked mine into a dill and used a scotch brite to clean the end at the fuel line up and there was not a mark on them.

I love my rv275s. Easy upgrade, nice little boost of power, small mpg gain. If you do go for them get genuine Bosch. They aren't much more than others.

Do the RV275's smoke any? I'm having the same issue and would like to get some, but I don't want a ton of smoke.

You might see a mild puff of smoke without a tuner. With an Edge Comp I was able to roll a good sized cloud on level 5x3. Now with the Quadzilla Adrenaline and good tuning I'm capable of more power yet and zero smoke but I'm running +50HP injectors.

I ran my RV's with my Banks tuner, 75 hp, and with no tuner. Neither set up showed  any appreciable smoke. Like Mikes says a little puff now and again. Still have them with the Comp and I can blow some smoke with it. Not intersection black out clouds by any means but smokier than my other set ups. If you are stock of mildly tuned you will like them. They are a nice little bump in power and mpg as mentioned above.

I'm running an edge comp with a 47re that has BD stage 3 build kit installed. Do you think the RV275s would make enough extra power with this setup that I would need to reconsider more transmission work?

I hope 40 hp would not do that to you, but I would not know. My stock clutch held up to them and the 75hp tuner, but thats a manual. We need an auto guy.

What does a "Stage 3" entail?

It is basically a master rebuild kit with some billet internals like accumulator and band strut and anchor and I believe this kit is one that has been designed to hold an extra clutch and steel per clutch pack. The item number is 1062003. I also have a B&W deep pan with a BD single disk billet converter and a Derale 15900 cooling it all. I do also have a Transgo shift kit installed. My main concern is the input shaft needing to be upgraded due to the added power with a shift kit. I don't know from experience, but I have heard the shift kits will break shafts even at fairly low power.

Ordered the rv275 injectors from dap, now to deciede if I install them or find a shop to do it, that I trust to not screw it up. I've reviewed the material and video's on this site, for injector replacing great stuff thanks. Looks like a straight forward swap out the old for the new. Anyone know how many hours labor the books say this job would take?

One more question, does everyone recommend replacing the valve cover gasket? Mine's orginal 15 years old.

They are spendy, I'm thinking yes it should be replaced?

 Is it leaking?

If yes replace

if no don't worry about it

Mine is 15 years old also and it is not leaking. They are made of rubber and re usable until they do start leaking.

  • 2 weeks later...

Been trying to figure out if my 01 has a bad injector. Today it started to miss in park when warm. Also been white hazing when cold. Thought I even noticed a fuel knock. Any thoughts would be appreciated before I buy parts for no reason. Thanks

I would start with checking codes. Tell us more about your truck.

Finally got the new injectors installed this past weekend.

Thought I’d share that it has solved my ruff idle and loss of power on the high end and I’m hoping this will bring back the 2 mpg that I’ve lost for some time. I've attached pictures of old stock injectors appreciate any comments on if they look normal for having 231k miles on them. Seemed to be a lot of carbon bulid up, not sure if that normal or not.

Few things I noticed when doing this job, the lines where not that bad getting off, in 2 groups. However, getting them to seal (at cylinder head) was a pain, and of course #2 is the one that did not want to seal. In retrospect perhaps I should have attached and torqued lines at cylinder head, then at injector pump.

I ordered a torque wrench for the job, it was defective when I got it so had to guess (went by what was said in the pepsi video hand tight then snug them up), this next weekend going try get hold of good torque wrench from a local auto store on a tool loaner program and check torque on lines at cylinder head.

Anyone have a brand torque wrench you would recommend?

The fuel lines have never been cracked open before and some of them, from factory where torqued a lot.

Thanks to all that posted and the articles on this site great information, and DAP for a great set of injectors.

Those really don't look bad for the amount of miles. The best way to keep carbon from building up is getting things good and hot. If you can get the EGTs over 1000 for an extended period it should burn the carbon off. I regularly get mine into the 1300+ range and have never pulled a set that look dirty (I've had 3 sets of injectors in my truck)

As for torquing I wouldn't worry about it. Tighten them up so they don't leak and call it a day. I've never seen anyone use a torque wrench on them and never seen anyone have issues. If it's leaking tighten some more!
