So I am getting tired of going to the local parts stores to get codes read and reset on my vehicles.  What code reader do you use?  I have read a little about needing a DRBIII(R) scan tool, OBD II scan tool???  What do I need for my truck?  Want to ensure what I get will work for all vehicles that I have.

This is what I use.  There are a couple of different versions, but this one will allow me to read from GM, Ford and Dodge.  It is very easy to use and plugs right in to your OBD port and connects to a smart device via Bluetooth.

Really any ELM327 device will read codes on any vehicle newer than 1996

@Hawkez looks like a good product, only drawback for me is I am an iPhone IOS guy (yeah I know don't throw any hard objects).  The IOS version of that tool doesn't seem to have Bluetooth capability.

Ios can't use bluetooth, they require WIFI.  

I'd just get a cheap-o android tablet or phone just to use with the OBD so you always have something in the vehicle to scan codes with, and if it 'went missing' it wouldn't be a huge blow to the wallet.

This scan tool has been the best money so far exceed ScanGauge II by a long shot. Cordless so you can have you tablet out by the engine and not have to keep hoping back in the cab to see data. 

I have an SGII which came in handy yesterday.  I installed my BD stealth cover and had to turn the ignition on with the APPS disconnected to test the connection.  That caused me to get a P0122 code which  I was able to read and delete.   

I've upgraded to the OBD Link dongle. I love this over the ScanGauge II which is corded and no data logging. The OBDLink does data logging which is nice so you can drive and review logs later on.

I'm working with ScanTool.Net to resolve some app issues and add a few bonus things too.

Update i have decided to go with Blue Driver...a little pricier but does not have the connection issues OBD Link has with iOS devices.  If I had android I would go with OBD Link Bluetooth.

There is a bug for 4.2.2 and 4.2.3 firmware right now being resolved. Then I'm working on getting the auto connect feature added along with adjusting for MPH for oversize tire trucks. 

Coolness.  Auto connect would be great.

I tried looking it up, but no luck. I received my Blue Driver today. Amazon orders deliver on Sunday. I hooked it up to my wife’s Subaru and my Tahoe. Impressed so far with the interface and the ease of clearing codes and seeing historical codes. The live data logging is very cool as well. Can’t wait to use it on my dodge. But my new battery cable and cable ends took a misrouted to Hawaii.

Sorry for the late response haven't been on for awhile.  I really like my Blue Driver.  I have read data from dozens of cars from guys here at work to neighborhood buddies to car shopping with my son.  Have not run into any issues other than it is so small that I have forgotten to pull it from vehicle when leaving!!!  I really like the software.  It saves scans in a database so you can pull the information up later when not at the vehicle.  Good buy for sure.
