I have a 2001 Cummins 4x4 6-speed the truck starts and idles fine but I'm getting several codes and have dead pedal and the rpm on the tach drops to zero at idle

The codes are

P0122

P0238

P0341

P1689

What I've done so far is

Replaced apps with a timbo

Replaced map sensor

Replaced cam sensor

Cleaned every ground I can find

I'm really now sure where to look from here

Thanks for any help in advance

Ordered it from auto module source

  • verify none of your 5v reference sensors are shorting to ground.

First read over the diagnostics of each code. There is only 1 ground wire to worry about. The rest of the grounds are subsystems like lights.  Have you tested for excessive AC noise?

I'll start going through the diagnostics tomorrow after I get off work I see several references. To using a DRBIII scan tool which all I have is a basic code reader will that be a problem

The basic obdII tool will do good work.  Just foolow as close as possible

Thanks guys I'll try to start looking into ithe after work tomorrow but it may be this weekend before I really have much time I'll keep you updated

Also check the big connection on the firewall, it is the one with the white bale. The bale must be to the left.

So I went through the diagnostics I'm no longer getting the p1689 code on the p0122 and p0341 they both seem to point to the ecm being bad

I know it's been awhile but I figured I'd give a update I replaced the ecm and all is good

While buying an ECM sucks, if thats what it takes to fix it, not much else you can do. Happy to hear it is back on the road.

Yeah pretty much you gotta do what you gotta do the bigger hit to the wallet was the new quad adrenaline I just bought but that was more of a want than a a need
