I can't help let y'all know that my truck is almost in primer. Should be getting base/cleared mid April sometime. Won't be long!

Welp. After owning this truck for 3 years without clear coat, I've finally got it fixed. I couldn't be happier.

Don't get too envious, bc you are looking at $700 worth of used rust free doors right there!

All the better to paint. Enjoy.

Man, I need rockers, cab corners, doors, fenders, box, .......... I think I'll keep on driving for a while longer. Some day I'll be rich and buy a rust free one with all upgrades already done. I'll keep dreaming,  never know.

Are you painting this yourself?

No but I have done some prep work like swapping out both of those doors, and I flap wheeled the roof and sanded hood to prep for my Buddy at work. He used to be a body guy and has done lots of custom paint work and he's doing it the rest for me!

I've got two trucks that could use a paint job. 02 is get rather beat up looking with all the rock chips. 96 Dodge has lost most of the paint on the roof and hood now. Looking at grey primer.

New paint makes the truck almost feel new again, what color you going with?

keeping it stock. two toned black/silver.

I had thought about a vintage color like this but opted to just keep it stock and spend the money on higher end paint. I'm doing omni plus base/clear.

Two toned black and silver, for some reason, those two colors on a second gen totally makes it :thumb1: . Don't know what it is about the darker colors on our trucks, but, IMO it makes even newer trucks not look as good anymore.

Yeah. I agree with you. I would rather have solid color with any other color but black/silver for some reason. Red/silver is not too bad but black/silver rocks!

Looking good Mr trucker. I am jealous.

Looks great!!  Color scheme reminds me of my dads '79 Bronco.  I bet it feels like it drives better even though it mechanically doesn't.

Nice looking paint job...

Suggestion for you... Being your truck looks exceptionally great now you better look into securing your vehicle with a good alarm and/or defeat switch to prevent starting of the truck. Ask @TFaoro he got targetted as well for having a pretty truck.

Nice,  looks like a quality paint job. Be careful throwing that firewood in thier.

Thanks everybody. It is a great feeling to know that my clear coat is not turning into rust!

Good suggestion Mike.

01 cummins-My father in law has graciously offered his farm truck for hauling wood so if there is a change I'll be getting into tight spots, I'll gladly take him up on that offer!

That truck is beautiful.

Please find a way to secure it though... I got home last night to find a stolen second gen on my dead end road.  There was a police car and another pulling out with the crook, they caught the guy and was hauling him off after the chase ended on our dead end road :thumb1:

BTW, I just think these second gens are going to become a classic. They look so nice in the styling.
