20170803_221641.jpgI hate to admit it... I spent 700 on a set of Morimoto D2S HIDs. All I can say is these are top notch headlights compared to the sport headlights I just replaced. Now I didnt have to do all the heating and removal of the lens. I found a site called http://shop.retroshop.us that sells complete HID solutions fully assembled. All you got to is install and wire it up. They are even aimed and pretested before shipping.

Here is exactly what I selected.    Give them a call they are very helpful in explaining the options.

  • Lets stir the pot a bit more. I just put some new clear housings on and stuck a set led's in them.   Only the back rounded portion of the housing has a reflector. The marker has no reflector

I'll most likely stick with white lights.  I know these will fit where the normal factory fog light typically is installed. I've been out measuring and seeing what I can make fit.

Where did you source your housing?

While I think they look weird on the trucks I sure am jealous of the light they put out and the pattern.

I agree, they look goofy.  Mine have been on for months and I'm just starting to be ok with the look.

Hell with what it looks like... I'm happy with performance. Like myself I've got 2 hour to drive yet tonight to get home.

I got them from Amazon. SPPC Crystal Headlights Black With Corner Light For Dodge Ram - (Pair) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JBIAC3W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_6N2HU7OzdHBNS

Do NOT even bother using them without the projectors as the reflectors are complete trash. They also have these stupid caps that cover the tips of the stock halogen lights that need to be removed. They are held on with a single philips head screw so removing them is easy. After they are removed you will see a pillar which must be cut off in order for the projectors to fit properly. The chrome reflector scratches VERY easily so either be really careful or do what I did and paint it matte black.

All in all they work great with the projectors and are pretty cheap at ~$80 shipped.

Ok thank you for the link. Did you go with the D2 or the H1?

@Explosives87

I went with the H1's as they are much easier to install and put out a ton of light. I would also highly recommend you order the retro rubber adhesive. It's only $12, makes reattaching the lenes stupid easy, and one roll will do about 4 of our headlights.

When installing my Retro shop units I stumbled onto a way to position the units in place w/o the need to move the bumper. You need to remove the black plastic top and then it takes sliding the old units out forward and sideways without tilting the unit much. There's a very narrow path to get the majority of the housing out from the fender then out sideways. I did it once then took me an hour to replicate it again. I should've videoed it. Hopefully I don't need to do it again.

There is only one method for us with sport bumpers.....and that involves loosening or removing the bumper.

Day Time Running Lights ..... compatible ?

Well... Ummmm... Errr... Just zip tied to the handle holes of the batteries... That another job I've got to do yet.

I bolted mine with SS self tappers on the inside of the fenders, just behind the batterys in a cavity you see when you take lights out. There was just enough room to put 3 screws in from the side through that smaller hole.

Aren't Halo's considered daytime running lights? You might check your local laws.

Yes they are.

I didn't like the look of a big gap around eBay special housings, so I got a tube of black silicone from menards for 3 bucks and filled the gap. I figured it will come off easily enough if I wanted to pill it off. Looks much better imo.

I bolted mine to the radiator support.

Went to install my hid and found out that harness is coming up short to the driver side. Anyone run into this problem or has everyone had plenty of wire left over to wire from either side?

No issues here. Plenty of wire to travel driver side to passenger running along the top of the radiator zip tied to the battery cable.
