Owners manual, didn't want to wade through entire 60 page manual, (unless I get one)  

 

Question...Can I use this in my 2nd gen most of time but also move it to a different car when I want?    Or once you program it for a certain vehicle, that's it?

 

Question...Do all the features advertised work on 2nd gen's or do only show some, because of (age, or type of vehicle)?

 

Question...Would you buy another?

 

If I'm going to get something like a Quadzilla someday , is getting scan gauge worth the money? don't some features overlap?

You can move it around but the mileage settings etc are for 1 vehicle. 

 

Not all features work on a 2nd gen.  The Data Bus of a 2nd gen is a scary and strange place for most of these types of devices.   some things will work otheres wont, @Mopar1973Man can help you there

I would like to keep scan gauge in 2nd gen most of the time.  But also use scan gauge for pulling codes in other vehicles, 06 CRV and 03 Ford 5.9 triton.  

 

My real old trouble code reader is history.  Battery leaked all over.  My fault. 

But since I need another trouble code reader, thought scan gauge might be good idea...thinking I could use in 2nd gen most of time and when needed as code reader on other vehicles.

Get a obdlink tool. it's cheaper and do everything the scan gauge will.

Off subject, bit I learned my lesson the hard way too, I now take batteries out of anything I don't use daily.

Any of these tools can only see the available data on the OBDII port. So no matter what tool you use the same data will be available. So the sensor that the ECM reports on the ODBII port  is

• IAT Sensor (Intake Air Temperature)
• ECT Sensor (Engine Coolant Temperature)
• MAP Sensor (Boost pressure - Typically misreported)
• Engine Load
• RPM
• MPH (Actually from the ABS computer)
• GPH Gallons Per Hour (This is calculated)

 

No Fuel pressure does not report because there is no sensor on the ECM for fuel pressure. Now on 04.5 and up Dodge Ram's the Fuel rail pressure does report.

Absolutely true. Much easier to use and many different apps that do all kinds of different things. Like I've used OBDLink App and kind of like it but missing auto-connect feature. Dash Command is a good app and shows much more data than ObDLink and the ScanGauge II can plus capable of data logging.

I have SGII and it works fairly good. But there are much better options out there for alot less money as @Mopar1973Man  has posted above. I have used mine on other vehicles but never used the mileage feature. never felt the need for it

Exposing my lack of knowledge again.  Moparman which one would you buy?   Link has four listed.  I'm on a Samsung 7 with Verizon and have wives old tablet (if I buy her a new one). When obdlink is getting shipped  I could be learning about Blue tooth.  Car Radio place was talking about blue tooth.  Guess its needed with modern electronics.

I am the same old friend. I have downloaded one app in my life. It really changed the way the phone worked and I un installed it. Thats the last time I did that.

More likely you need to learn about your device you are going to use. Like my LG G5 phone can handle 2 Bluetooth devices at once. The second device could be an audio device as well. (Car stereo or Bluetooth head set)

 

Give you an idea of my vehicle setup...

 

Then finding out I've got a missing feature on my phone I've managed to add the feature back as a hack on a second phone number.

 

If you didn't know Linux and Android are the same family. Hence why I've got all Linux PC's, Linux Servers, and Android Cellphones.
