so i finally found a use for my old electric lift pump.  using it as an oil extractor for oil changes.  works like a champ, tested it on the bmw. got all of it out (6.5qts) in about 5 minutes. so no more back breaking “get under things” to change oil.

i just take the 5 gal bucket and pour into the recycle bin at the parts store. it should be able to run backwards.

I also did take it apart to find out why it failed and the bearings they used are very very cheap chinese bearings that are allowing play in the rotor and causing a harmonic which slows the pump down.  so now i have a fuel transfer pump or oil extractor!

I suppose it's only going to work with newer vehicles designed to use dipstick as extraction point and boats. Or am I missing something.

if it has a dipstick which my car and the cummins has, it will work

i can also use it as a fuel transfer pump

Takes a pretty stout pump to suck 15w-40 up from 3 feet below. I doubt any FASS would be up to the task .

it pulled cold 10-40 from the bmw so yeah its strong but crap bearings

When trying to find installer for new fass SW diesel in Phoenix told me they have sold to some ag company that sucks some kind of syrup out of trucks that has 6 or 8 ft lift.  Don't if true or not but sounded good.

Have you tried to see if the motor is reversible? You know, reverse the pos and negative battery clips, maybe it run backward to be able to suck oil back out of the bucket and into recycle bottles?
